Canada: Conservative Campaign Director Faces Wrath of National Muslim Group Over ‘Child Sexual Exploitation’ Post

It’s happening all over again because it’s cyclic: a prominent individual says something to offend Islam, and the overarching arbiters of Canada’s free speech, the National Council of Canadian Muslims, moves in for the kill. “B.C. Conservative campaign director under fire for anti-Islam posts,” by Arden McLeod, CBC News, October 10, 2026:

The campaign director for the B.C. Conservatives is facing criticism over anti-Islam posts she shared on social media earlier this year, just days after the party fired another candidate over his own offensive posts.

Campaign director Katy Merrifield posted on X in June in response to a U.K. inquiry about child sexual exploitation: “F–k Islam. Defend Western civilization.” The post was later removed.

“We are deeply hurt by the comments made by B.C. Conservative Campaign Director Katy Merrifield … [and] several subsequent posts that demonstrate a pattern of promoting Islamophobic views,” the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) wrote in a post on X Friday.

This comes after the party dropped Joachim Agou, its candidate for Victoria-Beacon Hill, over offensive social media posts targeting Palestinians and Pakistanis that came to light this week, which the council said made Merrifield’s posts especially concerning.

Merrifield, who previously worked as head of communications for federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, is the campaign director for the B.C. Conservative Party and not a candidate.

She acknowledged her past comments in a post Friday, saying they stemmed from her experience as a rape survivor and from feeling “heartbroken, horrified and angry” after reading accounts of sexual abuse involving young girls in the U.K. and the failure of authorities to protect them.

“I took down my original post within hours because my anger was directed at the extremism used to justify these horrific crimes, not at Muslims or their faith,” Merrifield wrote….

Katy Merrifield’s post may have been harsh sounding to some, but the sentiment reflected not only her own personal experience as a rape survivor, but also her outrage over how women are being treated in the name of Islam, with no consequences for the offenders. Take, for example, the latest news about hundreds of child marriages to Pakistani, Iraqi and Syrian men in Germany.

I’ve been on the same campaign team as Katy Merrifield. She is the furthest thing from a hateful person, and you should be ashamed of yourself for this desperate attempt to smear her.

Her first post was in response to a horrific mass rape and human trafficking case in the UK involving Muslim perpetrators. Their actions were reprehensible, as is the extreme brand of Islam, which are behind them. I say that without hesitation as a Muslim myself.

As for Katy’s response to someone else’s post about Pride; that post was discussing taxpayer funding, not anyone’s identity or right to live as they choose. Again, you’re grasping at straws.

Perhaps it’s time to consider why so many British Columbians are fed up with the identity politics you insist on pushing.

That the NCCM is expressing “hurt” does not trump the well-being of girls and women who have suffered unspeakable abuses as a result of what’s deemed acceptable in Islam. Muhammad married Aisha when she was 6 and consummated the marriage when she was 9 (Sahih Muslim: Book 16, Hadith 82). According to Islamic law, Muslim men can take “captives of the right hand” (Qur’an 4:3, 4:24, 33:50). The Qur’an says: “O prophet, indeed, we have made lawful to you your wives to whom you have paid their dowries, and those whom your right hand possesses of those whom Allah has given you as spoils of war” (33:50). 4:3 and 4:24 extend this privilege to Muslim men in general. The Qur’an says that a man may have sex with his wives and with these slave girls: “The believers are successful indeed, who are humble in their prayers, and who shun vain conversation, and who give alms, and who guard their private parts, except from their wives or those that their right hands possess, for then they are not blameworthy.” (Qur’an 23:1-6)

The infamous and massive Muslim rape gang scandal and attempted coverup by authorities (precisely to appease aggressive Islamic lobbies) is a wakeup call to all in the West, or should be.

NCCM (formerly CAIR-CAN) is an offshoot of CAIR, yet has stated this in past about any connection to Muslim Brotherhood:

….The writers absurdly claim NCCM’s predecessor organization, CAIR-CAN, was founded by the Muslim Brotherhood, a foreign political group. This is patently false. The public record shows our organization was launched in July 2000 in Ottawa by prominent Canadian Muslims led by Globe and Mail columnist Dr. Sheema Khan.

Yet the NCCM is a direct offshoot of CAIR. According to evidence presented in March 2015, during a House of Commons Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security:

The NCCM was founded in 2000 as the Canadian Council on American-lslamic Relations, CAIR-CAN, the Canadian chapter of the Washington, D.C.-based, Saudi-funded Council on American-lslamic Relations, CAIR. This Canadian chapter was founded by Dr. Sheema Khan, with the assistance of Mr. Faisal Kutty and others. ln 2003, as CAIR-CAN founding chair, Dr Khan swore an affidavit asserting that CAIR-CAN was under the direction and control of the U.S. mother organization. By about 2004, several significant former U.S. CAIR personalities and other associates had been convicted of terrorism-related offences, CAIR’s former national civil liberties coordinator among them. For a period during her CAIR-CAN chairmanship, Dr. Khan sat on the U.S. CAIR organization’s board. According to a 2006 National Post report, CAIR-CAN contributed payments to the Washington office from CAIR-CAN revenue.

Like its parent CAIR, the NCCM bullies infidels into compliance, and reserves particular venom for Israel. This is what the NCCM has stated about Israel, while not holding Hamas into account for its use of human shields:

Images of Israeli attacks on Gaza, flattening mosques, ambulances, hospitals, and civilian targets. Images of Palestinian and Israeli civilians in immense suffering.

Canada’s largest Jewish lobby, CIJA, called the comments “sickening,” and said that the NCCM “fails to condemn Hamas violence targeting innocent civilians.” Understanding its link to CAIR makes such the NCCM’s comments less surprising. CAIR’s National Executive Director Nihad Awad stated in a November 24, 2023 speech that he was “happy to see” Palestinians breaking out of Gaza on October 7. He framed it as a “resistance,” as people “breaking the siege and throwing down the shackles” of their land. Even the White House under Joe Biden disavowed CAIR after that comment.

The NCCM has enormous control over the politics of Canada. Former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appointed Islamophobia Czar Amira Elghawaby to oversee Canadians, amid justifiable and refreshing backlash, especially from Quebec. She once served as communications director for the NCCM. Under her watch, the Trudeau government fired me in 2017 for criticizing Islam on Jihad Watch and in Iceland. See HERE.

Now ask yourself: is the NCCM really “hurt” about comments made by Katy Merrifield? Or is it (again) attempting to control Canada’s discourse and keep it in subjugation to Islam?

Its parent organization, CAIR, was listed as an unindicted coconspirator in the trial of the Holy Land Foundation, an Islamic charity that had links to Hamas. This was the largest terrorism funding trial in the history of America. CAIR was listed under this category: “Individuals/entities who are and/or were members of the US Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee and/or its organizations.”

The governors of Texas and Florida have now designated CAIR a terrorist entity, along with the Muslim Brotherhood, in those states.

The ultimate focus should be on Katy Merrifield’s fellow B.C. Conservatives, who need to take a strong stand for Canada’s history, individual rights and freedoms, as well as for its constitution. Kudos to Merrifield. She has refused to apologize and thus bow to the NCCM arbiters of Canadian thought as they attempt to force compliance to Islam. Merrifield needs support for her right to post her comment.
