Jihad Watch stated on Monday about the now dropped Liberal Government Guide to Understanding and Combatting Islamophobia:
“The 60-page” propaganda report is “the latest creation of Amira Elghawaby,” all while antisemitism runs rampant in Canada. From the time that Elghawaby — the former communications director for the National Council of Canadian Muslims (formerly CAIR-CAN) — was appointed “Islamophobia” czar by the Trudeau Liberals, there was widespread backlash, and the Quebec government demanded her resignation. Still, she persists on her mission. Last year, Elghawaby also defended an antisemitic pro-Hamas rally at Mount Sinai hospital in Toronto, and she recently endorsed a Liberal government guide advising workplaces to learn about Islam from Muslims and permit special religious privileges for them.
The guide went so far as to call it “racist” to criticize anti-Israel activists who support Hamas, and it defined both “sharia” and “jihad” as “benign terms that are misrepresented by Westerners.”
The good news: the federal government has now dropped the dangerous new guide, which also says that sharia is “a means ‘to establish justice and peace in society.’” Obviously the Canadian government has dropped this guide because of backlash. The guide is also shamelessly antisemitic and hostile to the State of Israel:
But here is the continuing problem: Canadian taxpayers should not be paying the wage of an “Islamophobia Czar” to push her Islamic agenda over and above all other creeds in Canada. Nor should anyone in Canada be kowtowing to the aggressive National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM), where Elghawaby served as communications director. Now the NCCM is on the back of Marco Mendicino, the new chief of staff to Liberal leader Mark Carney because Mendicino is pro-Israel:
The National Council of Canadian Muslims said in a statement it is “greatly concerned” by the Liberal MP serving in that role given his position on the Israel-Hamas war, such as opposing decisions of the International Court of Justice and a ceasefire in Gaza…..
“We remain concerned that an individual who lacks appropriate judgment… does not have the requisite expertise to help guide Canada amid extremely delicate negotiations with the Trump administration.”
Lacking judgement just because he supports Israel? That reasoning is just as absurd as Elghawaby’s Guide to Understanding and Combatting Islamophobia calling it “racist” to criticize anti-Israel activists. The NCCM’s foreign agenda has no place in Canada, and neither does an “Islamophobia Czar.”

The federal government has dropped a new guide that, according to critics, deems it “racist” to criticize Palestinian advocacy or extremism.
The guide also defines both “sharia” and “jihad” as benign terms that are misrepresented by Westerners, with sharia defined as a means “to establish justice and peace in society.”
It’s contained in “The Canadian Guide to Understanding and Combatting Islamophobia,” a document published last week by the Department of Canadian Heritage.
The report endorses the idea of “anti-Palestinian racism,” an activist term with such a broad definition that it technically deems any criticism of Palestinians or “their narratives” to be racist.
“Public discourse often unfairly associates Palestinian and Muslim identities with terrorism,” reads the guide.
The new guide specifically links to a definition of the term circulated by the Arab Canadian Lawyers Association. Their 99-word definition says that it’s racist to link the Palestinian cause to terrorism, to describe it as “inherently antisemitic” or to say that Palestinians are not “an Indigenous people.”
The term is broad enough that merely acknowledging the existence of Israel could fall under its rubric. The definition describes the Jewish state as “occupied and historic Palestine,” and its creation as “the Nakba” (catastrophe). “Denying the Nakba” is specifically cited as one of the markers of “anti-Palestinian racism.”…
