Quebec Liberal candidate Valérie Assouline has been brutally berated and called out in a contrived “shocked” reaction over her 2017 expressed disapproval of public Islamic prayer and her accusation of former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of having a “pro-Islamist ideology.” A heavily biased story about Assouline appears in the far-left, social justice publication Rover News. “Voters in Saint-Laurent ‘Shocked’ by Liberal Candidate’s Comments on Muslims,” by Christopher Curtis, Rover News, September 14, 2026:
A Quebec Liberal candidate is under fire for once posting that she would boycott a zoo because it allowed Muslims to pray on its premises.
“When we take our children to Parc Safari, we do not expect to see an itinerant mosque,” wrote Valérie Assouline in a social media post sharing a 2017 video of Muslims praying at the zoo. “I will go to Granby Zoo this year. It’s disappointing.”
It was not her only comment targeting Muslims.
In 2017, after a federal judge awarded $10.5 million to former Guantanamo Bay inmate Omar Khadr, Assouline accused then prime minister Justin Trudeau of having a “pro-Islamist ideology.”
Assouline, who is running in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent district, has been interviewed on the far-right Lux Média. The podcast is owned by André Pitre, a man who traffics in COVID-19 conspiracy theories and warns of creeping sharia law in Canada. The candidate’s controversial posts have been circulating in the Saint-Laurent riding, where roughly one in four residents is Muslim.
“We’ve gotten hundreds of messages from community members about (Assouline),” said Stephen Brown, CEO of the National Council of Canadian Muslims. “At first it was mostly people and institutions in the riding. But over time, we started to hear from other communities in Quebec and even outside the province.
“This thing has legs. A lot of people in the province were really concerned. And they were confused.”…
Consider the many reasons why Valérie Assouline may have thought Trudeau had a “pro-Islamist ideology”:
- Trudeau paid jihadist Omar Khadr 10.5 million dollars for the allegedly cruel treatment Khadr suffered in Gitmo; Trudeau made up silly excuses and said he also felt the frustration of Canadians when questioned about it.
- Trudeau also accused the Conservative Party of “Islamophobia” for inquiring about jihad terrorism.
- He met privately with Joshua Boyle, a suspicious former Taliban captive who faced 15 criminal charges.
- He heavily and passionately advocated for returning Islamic State jihadis, and welcomed any immigrants that America rejected.
- His government tried to reopen relations with the Iranian regime, with his Iranian MP Majid Jowhari starting a petition to do so.
- His sharia-supporting MP Omar Alghabra represented Canada at the 44th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. Since when was Canada an OIC state?
A Macleans article stated the truth about Al-Qaeda’s Omar Khadr, whom Trudeau rewarded with Canadian tax dollars:
Unrepentant and unconvincing. He vehemently denies his father’s al-Qaeda connections—“I know my father, and I don’t accept anybody saying that he’s a bad person”—and compares bin Laden’s training camps to mere martial arts clubs. He skirts around certain questions (about 9/11, his siblings, his father’s death) and when shown a home video of himself expertly wiring and planting improvised explosive devices, he can barely watch the footage. “What’s the point?” he asked. Not once does Khadr accept even a shred oresponsibility for his lot, consistently shifting the blame to everyone else…
And Muslim prayer in public places, which has ramped up in many Western cities globally, isn’t like prayer in any other religion:
Protesters perform Maghrib (sunset) prayer outside the Israeli consulate at the intersection of Yonge and Bloor.
Two separate pedestrians express anger at the roadway being blocked by this demonstration.

Muslim public prayer isn’t quiet or humble; it is designed for public intimidation and activism to advance a supremacist ideology.
It doesn’t take a genius to see the reality in Assouline’s views, which were not expressed in a bombastic fashion. But how dare she criticize Islam! Woe be unto her! Only Christianity and Judaism are allowed to be smeared without fear of any consequences in Canada, which has been called one of the most antisemitic countries in the entire world. See also HERE. And now the CAIR offshoot, the National Council of Canadian Muslims, is on Assouline’s case, as it was on mine when I was fired by the Trudeau government in 2017 for criticizing Islam on Jihad Watch and in Iceland. See HERE.
The NCCM has distanced itself from CAIR, which was designated an unindicted coconspirator in the trial of the Holy Land Foundation, an Islamic charity that had links to Hamas, the largest terrorism funding trial in the history of America. CAIR was listed under the category: “individuals/entities who are and/or were members of the US Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee and/or its organizations.” The NCCM is a direct offshoot of CAIR. According to evidence presented in March 2015, during a House of Commons Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security:
The NCCM was founded in 2000 as the Canadian Council on American-lslamic Relations, CAIR-CAN, the Canadian chapter of the Washington, D.C.-based, Saudi-funded Council on American-lslamic Relations, CAIR. This Canadian chapter was founded by Dr. Sheema Khan, with the assistance of Mr. Faisal Kutty and others. ln 2003, as CAIR-CAN founding chair, Dr Khan swore an affidavit asserting that CAIR-CAN was under the direction and control of the U.S. mother organization. By about 2004, several significant former U.S. CAIR personalities and other associates had been convicted of terrorism-related offences, CAIR’s former national civil liberties coordinator among them. For a period during her CAIR-CAN chairmanship, Dr. Khan sat on the U.S. CAIR organization’s board. According to a 2006 National Post report, CAIR-CAN contributed payments to the Washington office from CAIR-CAN revenue
The governors of Texas and Florida have now designated CAIR a terrorist entity, along with the Muslim Brotherhood, in those states.
Assouline is a Jewish lawyer and founder and president of SOS Lawyers, a firm specializing in civil and commercial law and immigration. She is no easy pushover. It is outrageously obvious what the publication Rover News is doing: Amid myriad reasons to share Valérie Assouline’s concerns, the publication is completely one-sided in its coverage, in order to protect Islam and destroy the political career of a fellow Liberal who is unafraid to state the truth. Liberals cannot allow a fellow Liberal to have a different view, no matter how correct that view may be. They are vicious enough to opponents, but when damaging truth comes from within, they double down and bully. Valérie Assouline will likely fold under pressure, gaslighting or media propaganda. How refreshing it would be if she fights for her views and proves that there is still a speck of courage within the Liberal Party of Canada. If not, the Conservative Party of Canada needs her.
