Of course Trump knows what he’s dealing with and who he’s dealing with, so the saying, keep your friends close and your enemies closer, comes to mind. Trump’s last face-to-face meeting with Xi Jinping was at the end of October, in South Korea, on the sidelines of the APEC summit.
Despite China having a mutual defence treaty was North Korea, the two countries have a strained relationship. China has not provided North Korea with the assistance the country wants in developing nuclear weapons. According to the RAND corporation:
Beijing feared that North Korean aggressiveness could lead to a war on the peninsula that would affect China. Beijing has restrained but nevertheless supported U.N. Security Council sanctions against North Korea’s nuclear weapon tests for the same reason—but also because it fears potential North Korean nuclear weapon threats against China itself.
This comes as welcome news given North Korea’s recent declaration that it intended to strengthen its nuclear arsenal in the face of the war with Iran.
Iran and North Korea share a longtime strategic partnership and friendship, which remains intact.
But China has a strong strategic and military partnership with South Korea. Trump’s meeting Xi Jinping can, one hopes, include discussion of how to control North Korea.
“Trump to meet Xi in Beijing on May 14-15′, says White House after delay due to Iran war,” by Jatin Verma, WION, March 26, 2026:
Donald Trump announced on Wednesday (March 25) that he will travel to Beijing in May to meet Xi Jinping, following the postponement of an earlier planned summit due to the ongoing conflict involving Iran. The visit, now scheduled for May 14–15, had initially been planned for late March. Trump described the upcoming meeting as a major and historic occasion, adding that he also intends to host Xi and his wife in Washington, DC later this year.
“My meeting with the Highly Respected President of China, President Xi Jinping, which was originally postponed due to our Military operation in Iran, has been rescheduled, and will take place in Beijing on May 14th and 15th,” Trump said on his Truth Social network. Officials from both the White House and China are currently completing arrangements for the meetings in both countries. “I look very much forward to spending time with President Xi in what will be, I am sure, a Monumental Event,” Trump added….

Not a big fan of this meeting. Once the war is over, efforts should be made to divest from China, and reduce their threat to their various neighbors – Taiwan, Japan, India, Vietnam, Nepal, Bhutan, Burma….

Infidel,
The United States should also stop importing all of the junk from China that fills the shelves of Walmart.
There is no reason that the United States cannot make their own ball caps, etc.

“Man charged with planting explosive device at US military base had fled to China”
The terrorist planted the explosive near a welcome center at McDill AFB in Tampa, FL. He and his sister …one of whom called in about the bomb….fled to China. She returned the next day and has been arrested.
The explosive was real, but did not detonate.
McDill is a “command center”….and has some commanding going on regarding the war in iran.

The ‘source’ says they don’t know why she came back, James. Perhaps she’d rather be in prison in the U.S. than live in china….however that might be.
