JD Vance slams Mehdi Hasan for likening White House ban of Associated Press to attack on free speech

The left’s flawed sense of reality, its shoddy reasoning, and its routine false equivalences are evident here. The leftist media’s coverage of the Gaza war focused on the numbers of the dead in Gaza, which were compared to the numbers of the dead in Israel. Scant, if any, mention was made of the use of human shields, nor of Hamas’ intent (along with that of the entire Palestinian resistance). There was also immediate amnesia about who the aggressor was on October 7. 

The left is characterized by a thoroughgoing absence of reasoning and clarity, even to the point of blurring the lines of defining a man and a woman. 

How can one possibly compare the freedom of expression overall to someone visiting the Oval Office or being welcomed on Air Force One? One is a constitutional right; the other is a privilege.

Also, did the leftist media forget that in August, while Joe Biden was president, at least 442 reporters “lost their credentials since the White House press office” suddenly “changed its rules for journalists to be eligible for permanent passes”?

But now the leftist media is screaming foul over the AP ban, while applauding the actual crackdowns on the freedom of speech that are taking place in Germany.

US Vice President JD Vance and the American journalist Mehdi Hasan exchanged heated words on the internet over free speech. It all started when Hasan tagged Vance in a post on the social media platform X, which talked about the White House ban on the news agency Associated Press for not using the changed name of Gulf of Mexico.

Taking a dig at Vance’s latest remarks at the Munich Security Conference, Hasan wrote, “Hey JD Vance, I know you’re busy lecturing the Europeans on free speech, but have you seen this?”

Vance replied in the comments to Hasan, describing the difference between not giving a seat to a reporter and jailing people for their views.

“Yes dummy. I think there’s a difference between not giving a reporter a seat in the WH press briefing room and jailing people for dissenting views. The latter is a threat to free speech, the former is not. Hope that helps!” Vance wrote in his response. ….

    • Vance is terrific but Mehdi Hassan is another Muslim deceiver seeking to Islamize America and the West under Islamic Law, Sharia. Under Islamic Law, it is a Crime against Allah for Muslims to neglect performing Terrorism against Non-Muslims; Jihad means warfare against Non-Muslims to ESTABLISH THE RELIGION, ISLAM(Quran 9:29; Muslim Law Manual – “Reliance of the Traveller”, o9.0 and more).

    Mehdi-evil also posted “Make American Planes Crash Again” on X, apparently thinking he’d get no blowback from that either. Of course he claimed it was just a joke.

      The mozlum goon claimed, after “backlash,” that it was ”a joke,” ‘a poor choice of words,’ and the backlash was due to the ‘phobia.’

      The “dummy” hasn’t yet gotten to know his “limitations.” Perhaps Mr. Vance can assist him in learning.

      I bet Medhi thought he could take pot-shots and never expected Vance to repond, given his position.

      So I’m glad he got put in his place. There’s millions of terrorist-loving idiots like Medhi out there, he speaks for. I have zero sympathy for him and he got someone fired for making a joke about the Hezbollah terrorists so Medhi to me is just another Osama bin Laden type…I think Vance sees him the same way.

      This showdown btw the West and Islam is inevitable…I hope our elites figure out that Islam is an enemy ideology and has no place in our countries and we can start deporting them all.

    • Yes to both. The sooner this showdown begins, the better; I agree with everyone here. The UK’s and the EU’s surrender proves that it’s hardly too early. The arrogance of Mehdi-evil is proof that islam is confident that the US will fall just as easily and Vance is clearly telling him with this retort that we won’t.

      • Well, I can’t know what’s in Vance’s mind but I’d like to think he’s making clear that he’s speaking with full backing from his boss and taking personal pleasure in a) painting a solid contrast to his predecessor Ms. Word-Salad-Hyena-Laugh, and b) putting entities on notice that what went before will not be tolerated now.

I also noted the German “representative” at one of the conferences CRIED in response to J.D Vance’s comments. I thought to myself: (I am half German, my mother and I were born there.. father was Army).. post ww2.. the German people have totally lost their culture and Identity and apparently all the men are now BETA MALES..   8. Our thoughts are with Syria’s Grand Mufti, Dr. Ahmad Badr Al-Din Hassoun, a man of peace and humility, whose house was recently attacked in Aleppo, but who is now safe outside of Syria.

    Hassoun is emblematic of an anti-sectarian, pluralist, unified Syria, explaining to investigative reporter Eva Bartlett in 2018 that

    ‘In Syria, there are 23 million Christians, and 23 million Muslims. My title is Grand Mufti of the Syrian Arab Republic, not the Mufti of a particular denomination.’” (1)

    His statement reflects those of most Syrians who do not define themselves in terms of religious labels and associations, who reject sectarian hatred, extremism and terrorism — all products and instruments of Western Regime Change operations.

    I remember meeting Syria’s Grand Mufti Hassoun years ago, in 2016, as Syria was being besieged by Western-supported sectarian terrorists, the same ones who now claim to govern Syria. He said then that profiting from arms manufacturing should be illegal.

    He was right. War profiteering has been a significant driver behind the war on Syria, as it is with NATO expansionism.

    What Dr. Hassoun may have overlooked at the time is the pernicious role of International Finance as leading war profiteers.

    International Financial Institutions helped set the stage for the war on Syria in the first place. Prof. Michel Chossudovsky notes in “SYRIA: NATO’s Next “Humanitarian” War?” that IMF guidance in 2006 included austerity measures, a freeze on wages, the deregulation of the financial system, trade reform and privatization … leading to unemployment, “social unrest and mass protest.” (2)

    Syrians were (by design) ripe for productive change, but not the fake “revolution” and Western-imposed sectarian carnage that would soon dismantle their country.

    Now that the elected government has fallen, with al Qaeda posing as the new government, International Financial Institutions are again circling Syria like vultures, keen to profit from Syria’s Western-imposed misery.

    According to SANA news, “a roadmap for the economic vision” was discussed at a recent conference in Saudi Arabia, where the conference addressed “reintegration of the Central Bank of Syria into the international system, and the representation of Syria in the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.”

    Importantly, prior to the Western-imposed Regime Change War, Syria reportedly had NO EXTERNAL DEBT. (3)

    International Financial Institutions, seemingly far-removed from the mass death and misery that they helped to orchestrate, are in fact some of the key (though largely hidden) villains that will profit from the demise of Syria as a sovereign, pluralist, anti-sectarian nation. Big Finance loans and conditionalities will dictate much of Syria’s political-economy, largely hidden from view.

    Tolerance and pluralism are increasingly unwelcome in the “New Syria” fronted by al Qaeda/HTS’ Al-Sharaa.

    Largely unseen bad actors have played an important role in this well-planned catastrophe.

  9. While on the subject of Mehdi Hassan, he did a tweet a few days ago about the bodies of the Bibas family which raised suspicions: how did he know that? This was before Hamas started announcing that they were dead, and that the bodies would be handed over. I think it’s time Mehdi gets arrested and investigated for terrorist ties, particularly to Hamas (which I’m guessing he has courtesy his employer al Jazeera)

    And of course, Mehdi loves the pro-islamic censorship going on in Europe, particularly Germany, Sweden and Britain

      In the past few weeks, there have been several plane crashes…NY, AZ, one from the U.S. in Canada, a Navy jet in the Pacific and one other which I can’t recall the location.
      The mozlum was calling for more American plane crashes. Are there molzums involved in these?

  10. Lack of Freedom of the Press or not it’s pretty childish and petty for punishing AP for not calling the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America. The obvious implication is …

    • Every geographical entity is named after the country that it is in. Like Canada split the Northwest Territories and carved out Nunavut. Should others have refused to recognize it and kept calling Nunavut Northwest Territories anyway?

      The Gulf of Mexico is surrounded by both US and Mexico. As it is, Latin Americans don’t like it when US citizens call ourselves Americans, since they think that name applies to all inhabitants of both North and South America. So while Trump may have used “America” in “Gulf of America” to mean the US, those countries, including Mexico, could have used America to mean the entire American super-continent – both North & South America

      All that aside, AP thinks it’s okay to use terms like “gender assigned at birth”, “cisgendered” and push preferred pronouns in their style-guides, but they have a problem going w/ this demand from the US? How do they treat the Gulf – do they call it the “Persian Gulf” or the “Arabian Gulf”? The way Google does it w/ Google Maps is that if the phone/computer or whatever device w/ a GPS is in Iran, it’s called Persian Gulf. If in any Arab country, it’s called Arabian Gulf. Outside those two, it says “Persian Gulf (Arabian Gulf)”. For the body of water surrounded by Mexico, TX, LA, MS, AL & FL, it says “Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)” if outside both US & Mexico

      As for the AP, nobody has a right to be on Air Force One, or invited to any Oval Office ceremonies. AP is still there in the White House briefing room, like everyone else. What these companies like AP, CNN, MSNBC resent is that a whole lot of other people and organizations are being recognized by the While House Press Office as journalists and being given the same importance as they are, and they are no longer treated as members of an exclusive club. Being banned from Air Force One or the Oval Office is just icing on that cake

      Mehdi Hasan was bitching about AP not having that special status any more. Incidentally, why would foreign news agencies, even ones that employ American journalists, be entitled to entry in the White House Press Office? The first dibs on that ought to go exclusively to American news organizations, and after that, the Press Secretary can decide which, if any, foreign news organizations would be given the privilege of attending their press conferences

        • Ah, “childish”….used as an insult. But it isn’t really bad to be “childish”….My soon-to-be eight year old granddaughter doesn’t miss anything. She listens, she questions, she observes and notices things that adults around her completely miss.

          Freedom of the press means they can print what they wish and the government can’t clamp down on them except under certain conditions.
          It doesn’t mean that they can’t be restricted as to access.

          Did you have like comments about biden’s press people not allowing some reporters, not calling on some, etc.?

          As to whether it’s “petty”….the admin gets to decide what importance is put on the name used to designate a body. Mr. Trump sees an importance to the gulf being named something that, had it been so two-hundred years ago, none of the complainers would be complaining.

          Re: Biden. I’m not in favour of limiting press because one doesn’t like their political positions. For other reasons …yes.
          Of course it’s a privilege, if you like, to be included in the press corps covering the POTUS — it can be revoked for no reason at all.
          BUT to revoke it because they call the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of Mexico is just plain childish and petty.
          “Follow my dictates, however minor or irrelevant, and I’ll punish you”.
          Great way to decide who’s in the press corps.
          Great way to make friends and influence people.
          Great way to govern.

        • Thank you for the “granddaughter” comment. She already paints and writes stories. Has been doing those things since the age of about two. So, an artist, not a newsperson, most likely.

          The thing is, every president does things that displease some people. Just as every human does things that others who know them, dislike. It’s just that the U.S. president has such a high profile.
          If G. Washington had called the body ‘Gulf of America, who would care today?

          At least, Mr. Trump is not insisting that everyone call it what he said, as biden and his cohorts did about the whole ‘pronoun’ thing.
          The gulf does touch many miles of the U.S. of America.

          The “pronoun thing” was ridiculous and I feel is totally idiotic.
          Gotta laugh at the term “they” that’s somehow considered neutral and singular. With the wide variety of given names I have never heard before and which do not connotate a particular sex I find many news articles confusing.
          I like Jordan Peterson’s approach to the multi-gender issue.

        • Yes, Rarely, “they” once meant more than one person. And I have thought often about “The House of They.”

          When the name is not the usual American name, I too, get confused as to whether male or female. Some writers of ‘news articles,’ are written by people who are not very good at their chosen work. Misspellings, lack of proper punctuation, etc. make me wish for former times when writers actually had the ability to keep my mind focused on the article and not the pathetic writing.

          One thing which has often caused gritted teeth is with the use of “myself” and “yourself” instead of me and you. Or I and you.
          Instead of “I and a several others,” they’ll say, “Myself and several others.” and “One such as you,” it’s “One such as yourself,” Arrrggghh.

          Continuing to call the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of Mexico in its articles is a very, very minor thing and yet it has been so infuriating as to cost THE top US news service a spot in the POTUS media troop. Now THAT is petty and childish. I suppose it’s intended to keep the press perfectly in line if such a minor thing could raise such anger.DO AS I SAY…OR ELSE. It’s a good thing AP didn’t suggest that Russia was the agressor and not the Ukraine or the big cheeses might be investigated by the new FBI.
          Very childish and petty but also very telling.
