Trudeau is seething, as I stated in an earlier article, and thinks he can deal with Trump the way he dealt with Canada’s Freedom Convoy.
This is what Trudeau thinks of MAGA patriots:
“What we’re seeing from these MAGA conservatives is an approach on going back on fundamental rights in ways we shouldn’t be seeing,” Trudeau said in a 2023 year-end interview with The Canadian Press. “We may think to ourselves, ‘This will never happen in Canada and this is just the Liberals bringing up the usual fear that they do.’ I’m sorry, it wasn’t ever supposed to happen in the United States either, and yet it did because of MAGA conservatism. The threat is real. What we witnessed was an assault on democracy by violent rioters, incited by the current president and other politicians…”
Some facts from Canada that don’t bode well for Trudeau in the face of his lofty threat to Trump:
- According to a new Léger poll, most Canadians agree with Trump on the border issue, while they lack confidence in Trudeau on ability to “successfully handle the new U.S. president and his tariff proposals.”
- Quebec Premier Francois Legault met with Trump in Paris to talk about the border and tariffs. Think about it. This is severely embarrassing to Trudeau as prime minister of Canada.
- Conservative Member of Parliament Jamil Jivani met with Vice President-elect JD Vance (whom he knew from college days) amid Trump’s tariff threats. Another embarrassment to Trudeau. No one has confidence in him.
Trudeau is already treading on thin ice. He might want to rethink his “big” threat to Trump to “retaliate.” Trudeau had enough trouble trying to play it tough with the Freedom Convoy by threatening to “crush them with tanks.”
Trudeau’s grand plan seems to be to sow further divisions among Canadians on the left-right divide and stir up rage against Trump. But he is failing miserably to secure support and confidence even before he starts dealing with Trump’s demand that Trudeau clean up Canada’s own immigration mess.

“We will, of course, as we did eight years ago, respond to unfair tariffs in a number of ways, and we’re still looking at the right ways to respond,” Trudeau said at an event organized by the local chamber of commerce in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The Canadian leader said there are signs that Americans “are beginning to wake up to the reality that tariffs on everything from Canada would make life a lot more expensive for Americans,” Trudeau said.
Late last month, Trump said he would impose a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico unless the countries did more to stem the flow of migrants and illegal drugs at the border into the U.S. Trudeau met with Trump shortly afterward at his private club in Florida to discuss trade and the border….

What sort of retaliation is Trudeau thinking of? Flooding the US w/ millions of new illegals from Canada? Well, Homan is not Majorkas. Slapping tariffs on US services, which is where the US has a surplus w/ Canada? Okay, but does Canada have enough supply to offset that on its side? The other thing that struck me – if he’s trying to divide Canada along political lines, how does he hope to have every Canadian behind him? Even patriotic Canadians – which I’m assuming would be almost exclusively on the Right – would agree w/ Trump’s take on this, which is not anti-Canadian the way he normally is vis-a-vis China or other international trading partners. So Trudeau would lose all conservatives to supporting Trump, while he looks to…. whom exactly? Chuck Schumer? Since in 6 weeks, he’ll no longer have Biden or Kamala to deal w/

Ironic, though, that he would bring up fundamental rights after what he did to truckers who didn’t want a dangerous, experimental vaccine in their bodies. That being said it appears Trump has confused Canada with Mexico. Illegal immigration from Canada to the U.S. is minimal. In fact there is a lot going the other way and it will certainly increase dramatically once Trump starts extraditing more people.
There is probably some drug trafficking across the border but it most likely goes both ways. In fact there is huge illegal gun trafficking from the U.S. to Canada.
None of these are a unilateral problem but require cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of both countries. It is happening now.

Certainly those “choir boys” exist and there have been encampments on university campuses in Canada AND in the U.S. The U.S. didn’t get its “muslim” and Anti-Semitism problems from Canada — they’re home grown.
That being said, Trudeau’s immigration policy is letting far too many muslims into Canada. Some will certainly jump into the U.S. but there are many. many illegal migrants entering Canada from the U.S. When Trump starts kicking more out of the U.S. Canada can expect a flood.
