Kashmir: Islamic terrorists ambush Indian army patrol, murder four

Islamic terrorists ambushed an Indian army patrol on Thursday, killing four in the country’s Muslim-majority region of Kashmir.

“At least four people, including two soldiers, were killed when militants ambushed an army vehicle in India’s restive Kashmir on Thursday night, officials said,” Reuters reported Friday.

The attack was apparently carried out by the Pakistan-backed Jaish-E-Mohammed terrorist group. “The People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), which Indian authorities say is an offshoot of Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-E-Mohammed, claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement circulating on social media,” the news agency added.

The terror attack comes after a recent warning by India’s border police, the Border Security Force (BSF), that jihadists from Pakistan were attempting to infiltrate through country’s mountainous border as the winter sets in.

This is the second deadly attack of its kind on Indian troops in recent days. In early October, terrorists in Kashmir executed a soldier after taking him hostage. These terror attacks are part of a jihad declared by Pakistan-backed terrorist groups to carve out an Islamic state in the northernmost part of India.

The attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla on Thursday, in which two Indian Army soldiers were killed in action and two civilian porters lost their lives, is proof that Pakistani terrorists are deliberately targeting Kashmiri locals to evoke fear in the Valley, the Army has said.

In a statement on Friday, the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said the brave soldiers, whose vehicle was attacked in Baramulla’s Butapathri area, demonstrated their commitment to countering the “inimical agenda of Pakistan-abetted terrorism in Kashmir”.

The Army vehicle was targeted on Thursday and two soldiers, Rifleman Kaisar Ahmad Shah and Rifleman Jeevan Singh from Kashmir’s Anantnag and Haryana’s Sirsa, were killed in action. The statement said the response by the two soldiers and other troops forced the terrorists to retreat, leaving a weapon behind.

“Indian Army salutes the bravery of Rifleman Kaisar Ahmad Shah and Rifleman Jeevan Singh, who despite being hit responded and forced the terrorists to flee, before laying down their lives in this cowardly terrorist attack,” the Chinar Corps said.
