Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a Muslim supremacist. He has called in the past for a pan-Islamic military force that would be strong enough to defeat the Jewish state. He is intent on encouraging Muslim separatists in non-Muslim lands to revolt; he believes it intolerable that non-Muslims should rule Muslims anywhere. And he has drawn closer to Pakistan, whose leaders share the same views. Both Turkey and Pakistan have been talking about the need for the Muslims in India to throw off the “yoke” of Hindu rule, and to demand their own homeland that might remain independent, or in the alternative, become part of either Bangladesh or Pakistan. More on Turkish insistence that many of the 200 million Muslims in India either be allowed to join those Muslim states, or to have a state of their own, can be found here: “Could India face a sectarian civil war?,” by Michael Rubin, The Sunday Guardian, October 25, 2026:

There has always been an undercurrent in Pakistani and Turkish Islamist discourse that no Indian Muslims should live under non-Muslim rule. On 6 August 2019, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said Pakistani founding father Muhammad Ali Jinnah had “supported the two-nation theory to give the Muslims of India a separate homeland that is free from bigotry and racism.” Khan did not stop at the partition. He added that one day, “India will only be a country for the Hindus.”
On 16 April 2025, Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir declared, “Our forefathers thought that we are different from Hindus in every possible aspect of life… We are two nations, we are not one nation.”
Whereas much of Pakistan’s earlier rhetoric focused on Kashmir, in recent years, as Pakistan’s ally Turkey has pivoted toward a more Islamist foreign policy, Pakistan and Turkey have signalled sectarian ambitions beyond Kashmir.
At a 25 September 2019 UN hate-speech forum Turkey co-hosted with Pakistan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked, “In India, how will we defend Muslim youth who are being whipped, beaten by machetes and even sentenced to death just for eating beef?”
Speaking to young cadres from his own political party just five months later, Erdogan lamented the situation of Muslims living under Hindu rule. “India has become a country where massacres are rampant. What massacres? Massacres of Muslims. By whom? Hindus,” he declared….
The irony, of course, is that Muslims enjoy far greater rights in India and Israel than in countries ruled by fellow Muslims. In Freedom House’s latest annual rankings, Israel scores three points above Senegal and Albania, the high-ranking Muslim majority states. Freedom House analysts have historically been unfairly antagonistic to India, but even Freedom House acknowledges that India is far more tolerant and democratic than Indonesia, than any Arab country, let alone Pakistan and Turkey, which score [low on the Freedom House scale] alongside Algeria and Iraq.
The further irony of Munir and Erdogan’s complaints, of course, is that both Pakistan and Turkey are the antithesis of tolerance. When Pakistan gained independence, it had large Christian and Hindu minorities and even considered major Christian and Hindu festivals as national holidays. Today, many Christians and Hindus have fled, as state-incited pogroms and maliciously applied blasphemy laws take their toll. And, while Pakistan supports the Khalistan movement in India [for a Sikh homeland], it fails to mention its eradication of Sikh communities in Pakistani Punjab….
In 1947, just after Partition, Hindus made up 15% of West Pakistan’s population, and four years later, only 1.5%. In East Pakistan, Hindus were 30% of the population in 1947, and today are 8% of the population of Bangladesh. Christians in both Pakistan and Bangladesh have suffered from persecution, including false charges of blasphemy, as in the celebrated case of Asia Bibi, sentenced to death for supposedly making derogatory remarks about Muhammad; the Pakistani Supreme Court reversed her conviction, but she had to flee Pakistan for Canada lest Muslim vigilantes carry out their own death sentence.
It is far easier to incite Muslims to embrace extremism than to de-radicalise them. India faced a dry run in the 1980s as the Khalistan movement [for a separate Sikh state in Punjab] rained terror across India; should even one-tenth of India’s 200 million Muslims respond to Pakistani and Turkish online radicalisation, India will face a civil war that at worst will be existential and more likely will hobble India’s economy and investment for a quarter century if not more. Unfortunately, too many in India’s government and elite circles fail to understand Pakistan and Turkey’s ideological outreach and desire to export their sectarian goals. India sleeps at its own risk.
Turkey and Pakistan have been voicing their support for Muslims in India to rise up against their “Hindu oppressors.” There are 200 million of them; they are rapidly recruiting jihadis, thanks to agitators who can spread their message through the unstoppable medium of the internet. Will India find itself in a fight to survive in its present borders, with Muslim terrorists attacking government institutions across the land? Will tens of millions of India’s Muslims manage to throw off what they call “Hindu rule,” most likely in the contiguous states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal, and create either a separate state under Muslim control or merge with Bangladesh? This Muslim revanchism, promoted by Turkey and Pakistan, is no longer a fantasy. It is a real threat.

what would happen if India were to incite the Hindus living in pakistàn and bangladesh to declare themselves independent from their respective islàmic governments ?
gravenimage says
Actually, we know what would happen. Muslims would slaughter all Hindus n Pakistan and Bangladesh. This is happening now–but it would be instantaneous then.

Hindus hardly have the numbers in either country to pull off something like it. Unlike India, whose secular dictators Nehru and Gandhi insisted on not expelling Muslims en masse, Pakistan did what it could to expel all Hindus and Sikhs from their territory
India should retaliate in other ways. Quietly encourage the Taliban in destabilizing Pakistan and keeping it permanently insecure, so that even the Chicoms can’t do much. As far as Turkey goes, as I suggested below, India should gang up w/ Armenia, Greece and Cyprus, as well as recognize the PKK as the true representative of the Kurds. Don’t do it in Iraq, Syria or Iran, but definitely do it in Turkey
Edmund Carey says
Why don’t the Muslims of India simply GO TO Bangladesh or Pakistan? They don’t have to agitate or rebel to get a country. They already have two.

If they did that they would have a harder time taking over India.

This is the real Erdogan. A man who would like to see Muslims kill Jews and Hindus and doesn’t mind that triple the number of Muslims will die. He is a madman. He should be banned from visiting the UN or traveling to a civilized nation.

Erdogan wants to be the new Caliph…
John Smith says
Most definitely Gravenimage, Erdogan’s goals are to resurrect the Ottoman Empire and place himself as the new caliph. But it doesn’t end there. His ultimate goal is the conquest of Israel.

Endogan visited Trump in the White House. Trump praised him as a great leader. Trump wants to sell him F35s. Go figure.
Taffy says
The 30 F-35s in contract with Turkey have not been delivered because Turkey bought S-400 air defense systems from Russia. We will not deliver a single plane to Turkey as long as they possess an S-400 radar, because it will allow experimentation to tweak the radar parameters to maximize reflections from the F-35 and thereby make it detectable. The contract gives Turkey an option for another 70, but my guess is that as long as republicans are in charge, Turkey will get zero.

Taffy,
Yes, that is the way that I understand it.

Based on Israel’s performance in Iran and Lebanon, I believe that they can hold off an assault from Turkey, although on paper atelectasis wTurkey has the upper hand. Israel doesn’t want to engage. They just want to be left alone. Erdogan should realize that his life would be in jeopardy if he credibly threatens to attack Israel. All he has to do is ask Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the cardboard Ayatollah if he should avoid any military provocation.
David Grisez says
Many years ago when the British left India they divided the land into east and west Pakistan for the Muslims and India for the Hindus. East Pakistan became Bangladesh and West Pakistan became Pakistan. Now Erdogan wants to divide India up again. What Erdogan really wants is for all of India to become a Muslim nation. The ideology of Islam wants the whole world to become Muslim. This is not going to happen.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
He has forgotten squat. One of the things Turkey celebrates is 16 Turkic empires, of which 8 were pre-islamic and the other 8 were muslim. They include the Ghaznavids, Timurides and Mughals – all 3 of which did their own genocides of Hindus, Jains, Buddhists and Sikhs over an 800 year period. Note that all of these genocides were Turkish driven, barring a few done by the Pathans/Pashtun/Afghans
On the current threat, India’s Foreign ministry is a disgrace, run by an ex bureaucrat. An India w/ any sense of prestige would have degraded, if not completely terminated, relations w/ Turksy. Unlike the Gulf countries that have something like 50 million Indian expats (mostly Muslim) working there, there are no significant number of Indians who live and work in Turkey. Which is why India ought to expand its military cooperation w/ Armenia, Greece & Cyprus. I hesitate to add Israel to this list due to Jerusalem’s alliance w/ Baku
One more thing India could do – officially recognize the YKK and the Kurdish independence movement in Turkey. They needn’t do that in Syria or Iraq, much less Iran, but they should make it clear to Ankara that they are mutual, civilizational enemies for whom there is no redemption EVER!
Gurek says
India and the West should recognize that the threats of Turkic supremacism is as real as the threats of jihad.
What Turkey did in the past 103 years? Deporting the surviving Christians, banning the Kurdish identity, culture and language, promoting Turkish supremacism.
This is one of the reasons why Erdogan is not that different from Mustafa Kemal. Both of them oppressed minorities and promoted supremacism. Yet there are so many idiots in the West who like that dictator Kemal.
