The stupidity, the cruelty, and the madness of this man should now be clear to everyone. Trump has just announced that by the end of the year, less than two months away, he will stop American aid — $3.8 billion — to Israel. He is ignoring the fact that the United States had committed itself to giving $3.8 billion in military aid to Israel each year under a Memorandum of Understanding covering fiscal years 2019 through 2028. He claims, falsely, that Israel “doesn’t need it” — this at a time when Israel is still fighting a most costly, in every sense, five-front war, and is running out of expensive stocks of munitions — and that Benjamin Netanyahu “agreed to this.” No, he did not. Netanyahu had said, publicly, in both January and May, that over the next decade, he hoped that Israel would be able to do without American assistance. A decade is different from two months.

More on this new policy, that will do great harm to Israel’s security, and will delight Ilhan Omar, Abdul El-Sayed, Zohran Mamdani, Tom Massie, and Bernie Sanders, can be found here: “Trump: Netanyahu agreed to end $4 billion in US aid to Israel by end of 2026,” by Idan Kweller, Jerusalem Post, November 3, 2026:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally proposed ending nearly $4 billion in annual American assistance to Israel, US President Donald Trump claimed on Tuesday, announcing a potentially consequential shift in US-Israel relations on the morning of the American midterm elections.
In a telephone interview with Fox News’ Fox & Friends, Trump said the two leaders had reached an understanding several months ago under which the assistance would end by December 2026. Israel would remain free to purchase American weapons, and could receive additional assistance if necessary.
The hosts repeatedly pressed Trump to clarify whether he was referring to military aid, direct financial assistance, or weapons deliveries. He maintained that the arrangement would come to an end in December, without offering further details.
Trump also outlined the political rationale behind the move, arguing that ending US assistance would deprive Democrats of one of their most effective arguments against Republicans, particularly in Michigan, where support for Israel has become a central issue in a fiercely contested Senate race….
Obviously that didn’t work. Trump, in a panic over the midterms, wanted to deprive the anti-Israel Democrats of their argument about aid to Israel harming American taxpayers not by contesting that claim, but by surrendering to those who made it, promising to cut off the aid to Israel overnight.
According to the president, Netanyahu told him: “I think it would be appropriate if we do not receive aid.”…
No, what Netanyahu said was that he thought that gradually, over a decade, Israel should be able to decrease its need for American aid down to zero. A decade, not two months.
“Now, as far as paying Israel, Bibi Netanyahu and I have made a deal that we give Israel $4 [$3.8] billion a year, and we made a deal months ago that we’re stopping,” Trump said.
He added that the Israelis were comfortable with the arrangement because Israel had become economically successful….
Israelis are not “comfortable” with this “arrangement” — America cutting off aid by the end of the year. There have already been ferocious attacks on Netanyahu for having started Trump to begin to think about reducing aid to the Jewish state.
Netanyahu said, in a general way, that eventually Israel would no longer need American aid. He spoke of it taking “a decade” to taper off; Trump, putting words in his mouth, claims he had agreed to the aid cutoff being the end of this year.
In both January and in May, Netanyahu hoped that American aid could be “phased out,” could be “tapered off” over a decade, not cut off within two months. Trump is lying when he claims Netanyahu had suggested cutting aid off by the end of the year. But what can Netanyahu now do? Can he call Trump a liar when he needs American cooperation in dealing with Iran’s nuclear program?
Why would Netanyahu, who had made very clear that he thought it would take ten years for Israel to wean itself completely from American aid, suddenly have agreed to a two-month time frame for a complete cut-off of that aid, as Trump claims? Trump must be lying, or perhaps more exactly, can no longer distinguish truth from his misunderstandings and fantasies.
So that is where things stand: the Israelis are shocked at Trump’s intention to cut off aid overnight. The enemies of Israel are overjoyed. Netanyahu is being criticized at home for ever putting into Trump’s head the idea of cutting aid to Israel, and for not understanding that his “decade” of tapering aid would become in Trump’s mind “ending aid in two months.” And Trump has taken aid to Israel off the political table by ending it, surrendering to those who have been demanding that very thing. No good will come of this.

WTF!
Or let me put it another way, if Trump cannot be trusted to do what is right, who in the Hell can be?
What the Hell is going on?
John Smith says
I’m as baffled as you are on this one Wellington. But it might have been a different story had the people got behind him in these midterm elections, but they didn’t, they made a huge mistake.
Wellington says
I would argue, John Smith, that the time is overdue to consider the distinct possibility that Trump doesn’t know what he is doing.
The fact that he actually thought (and I believe still does) that he could make a deal with the horrid Iranian regime rather than from the outset announcing he would have nothing to do with it—and recognizing the son of the last Shah as the head of a government in exile–is itself dispositive of bad judgment. What, the way Trump has done things so far on Iran is optimal? I don’t think so.
Added to all this are other errors by Trump such as accepting that damn plane from Qatar, praising a dictator like Erdogan (Trump didn’t need to castigate this wretch but why praise the bastard?), making deals with Putin who is a serial killer on a national level, trashing Zelensky (and yes, Zelensky is far from ideal but that is not the point here), having one ridiculous pause after another with Iran and going on and on how that regime is begging for a deal, and also running at the mouth about his achievements in rally after rally, et al.
I understand full well that Trump is the best the West has right now but this fine man for whom I voted three times for President has been making many mistakes, especially in the past 8 months or so. Even many staunch Trump supporters I have spoken to have indicated they are getting tired of some of the things he says and does. And now there is this absolutely unnecessary garbage about cutting off aid to Israel, which nation is America’s best ally in all the world, bar none.
Not looking good, JS. Not at all.
John Smith says
Much of what you say here I agree with Wellington, but like us all Trump also makes mistakes. The way he sucks up to someone like Putin I find particularly deplorable. Which makes me think Putin may have something against him, that Trump doesn’t want to get out, just a thought. Taking the plane from Qatar and praising Erdogan, well these are debatable. Qatar doesn’t want to fall out with Trump and it’s not in our interests at the moment to fall out with Turkey or Qatar, so it may be best to just try to keep the peace. I do believe it will be a massive mistake if turns his back on Israel, and I’m more than certain he will. As I’ve been saying from the very beginning of this conflict, that this Iranian regime will not be toppled and they will obtain a nuclear bomb. The consequences of this will be catastrophic for the entire planet, and those that voted for the Dems in these midterm elections, can also be held to blame.

Is this a removing of the “wall” around the Land of Israel? Ezekiel wrote that Israel would be “without a wall” when “gog of magog and the hordes from the North” attack to carry out “much plunder.”

Trump made one horrible decision after the other in his second term, once again letting greed dominate, taking the bribe airplane from Qatar, not taking out the Iranian terrorist regime when Israel first attacked it and prevented Israel from taking them out, and ditching people like General Flynn, and listening to sleazeballs like Tucker Carlson and his sidekick, Vance. Trump sold out to muslim terrorist nations and sold out the free world, and notably America, screwing over Americans by price gouging them for oil, and seems to be playing directly into the hands of America’s enemies. What an asshat traitor.
Wellington says
I think you too harsh on Trump. I too have reservations about him (see my 3:49 P.M. post above to John Smith for confirmation of this) but he is still the best the West has and he has done great things like securing America’s borders, cutting government jobs by over 300,000 all the while under his tenure since January of 2025 seeing more than 1,000,000 private sector jobs created, bringing manufacturing back to America (something the foolish Obama said could never happen), by way of his policies reducing crime significantly in places like DC, et al.
Do you know of anyone better? I doubt it. If you do, name that person. Yes, Trump has erred but he is still the best America and the West has though America will need someone even better than Trump and I don’t know who that might be. Maybe Brandon Gill but who really knows?
Beans🫘 says
I agree Wellington. Trump has done a great job.
The American people have totally turned on Israel, the propaganda is super intense. Jordan and Egypt also get as much money as Israel. That aid will stay. Because Tucker or other leftists don’t bring that aid up, only Israel.
Trumps hand was forced or republicans would go extinct if they kept protecting Israel. The people have been brainwashed. Palestine is boss now.
Where this goes next, god knows. But I guarantee you this is not the end, our relationship will deteriorate quickly. Radical Muslims want Israel USA separated. The radical Muslims want Americans to support radical Islamic geopolitics. They do now.
Nobody wants to hear anything about Israel. Whoever supports Israel will already vote republican.
Taffy says
What Trump publicly says and the reality of the U.S. relationship with Israel are two different things. The IDF, Israel Aircraft Industries, Elbit and other high-tech Israeli firms work hand in hand with Lockheed-Martin, Raytheon and other US defense contractors to jointly develop edge of the art aircraft, weapons and defense systems. The billing and accounting may change, with money provided through the U.S. collaborative defense contractors, rather than directly from the U.S. government. One will not see aid to Israel as a line item on the budget.
Wellington says
Yes, two different things sometimes, but in this instance what good purpose did Trump’s statement achieve? Sheer silence would have been preferable.
