The jihadis strike within Jordan because it is not a full Sharia state under the authority of a caliph or working toward a caliphate. When Jafar Hassan says that Jordanian authorities will fight against “radicalization,” he knows that this will be extremely difficult to do without angering Muslims within Jordan who know very well what the Qur’an says and will be enraged at the prospect of anyone being punished for acting upon those teachings. Hassan will nevertheless have to walk that tightrope if he wants his government to remain in power, and try to rein in the jihadis while not appearing to take any action that is “un-Islamic.”

AMMAN: Jordan’s prime minister, Jafar Hassan, vowed on Friday that his country would continue its fight against terrorism, after a police officer was killed and another injured in a knife attack in Amman.
Hassan condemned the killing of Cpl. Jawad Al-Salayta, who was stabbed while on duty on Thursday, and pledged a firm response to threats against the security and social cohesion of the country.
“We will strike with an iron fist against the hideouts of extremists and terrorists, and anyone who cooperates with them,” Hassan wrote in a message posted on social media platform X.

The recent deadly attacks have prompted calls within Jordan for tougher counterterrorism legislation. The speaker of Jordan’s House of Representatives, Ibrahim Tarawneh, said on Friday that parliament would work with the government to review existing laws, identify loopholes and strengthen measures to combat extremism….
Experts have stressed that efforts to address terrorism required measures that extend beyond punishment to include the prevention of radicalization and recruitment by extremist groups…

Even the Islamic world cannot contain many Muslims and this bespeaks a great deal. Volumes actually.

When the Jordanian army conquered the land on the Israeli side of the Jordan River, i.e., the “west bank” those Palestinians on the Israeli side traveled openly between the “west bank” and the “east bank”. There are relatives of each on opposite sides of the river. But when Israel conquered the Jordanian army, it left the Land of Judea or Israel but didn’t take its Palestinian people.
The same thing happened in Gaza. After Israel conquered the Egyptians, Gaza had its Palestinian- Egyptian population. After the war, Israel offered to return Gaza to Egypt as part of the settlement of the war. Egypt which was adament about Israel returning every inch of land it won in the war, said “no” to Israel and rejected the return of Gaza Why would it reject Gaza’s return when they were so demanding on every inch of the SInai? After all, Gaza has a very valuable Mediterranean coastline.
Because Egypt did not want anything to do with the people of Gaza whom they knew quite well. Valuable land was no match for horrible people who proved how horrible they are with attacks on Israel culminating on the murders / rapes / and tortures on Oct. 7, 2023. Egypt doesn’t want them.
And the world hates Israel which has over 2 million of their own Palestinian inside Israel who vote in Israeli elections. And now Israel is supposed to give Palestinian Arabs Israeli land.
As small as it is already, Israel is not going to be a postage size nation in order to to give the people who how shown Jews only Hate since 1929 even before Israel was re-born in 1948. And who are rejected by even other Arabs proven by Egypt and Jordan.

Your accurate narration, rick, serves as partial testimony to the conviction, one I subscribe to, that Israel has not been too harsh but rather too kind. It is a most bitter irony.
After the Six-Day War, Israel should have formally annexed the so-called West Bank as well as Gaza (at least it has more or less done this with the Golan Heights) AND expelled many from those two areas, much as the Czechs expelled Germans from the Sudetenland after WWII (and note that the Czechs doing this aroused no international condemnation, nor should it have, but had Jews done this, which they should have, it would have been another round of hysteria against the Jewish state—but now ancient history). What, the way things are now has been better? I don’t think so.
Israel, if it ceases to exist (it won’t but forgive the hypothetical), would be due to Israel being too merciful, not too harsh. Hell, I even think it would have been better for Israel to keep the Sinai. Those who would wish to refute my take here again I would ask the following: have matters been better by not doing so?
