Antisemite and conspiracy theorist Tucker Carlson has now been defending Hitler, claiming that the UK should have stayed out of World War II and let Hitler take over the Continent. His remarks can be found here: “Tucker Carlson claims UK had no reason to join WWII, appears to defend Hitler’s invasion of Poland,” by Goldie Katz, Jerusalem Post, October 3, 2026:
"I’ve never understood, why fight the second world war in the first place?"
Anti-anti-Hitler podcaster @TuckerCarlson argues that Britain SHOULD NOT HAVE FOUGHT THE NAZIS. A transcript of the discussion starting at 1:02 in this clip (watch before/after for context)…
Tucker: "The UK had nothing to do with it, at all, and they destroyed their empire and their country fighting this war that they still pretend was a good idea, but it wasn’t."
Jacob Rees-Mogg: "It was fundamental. It was the classic Good vs. Evil."
Tucker: "Has the UK benefited from it?"
JRM: "We did the right thing."
Tucker: "Is it a better country than it was?"
JRM: "To have defeated Hitler, yes."
Tucker: "So the UK is a better country now, it’s a healthier country now–"
JRM: "The allies would be speaking German!"
Tucker: "Who cares?"
JRM: "I do."
Tucker: "There are a lot of people in Britain who can’t speak English, so it would be nice to have, like, at least a European language spoken in your country!"

Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson claimed that the UK fighting in World War II was not a good idea and appeared to defend elements of Adolf Hitler’s justification for invading Poland during a Friday interview with former UK business secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg.
During the hour-long interview, as the two debated Britain’s historical role in European conflicts and the legacy of World War II, Carlson asserted that he “never understood why fight the Second World War in the first place,” arguing that the UK should not have defended Poland from Nazi invasion because Britain “had nothing to do with it at all.”
“Well, Hitler said that 15% of Poland was once Germany and it was given to Poland at the Treaty of Versailles,” Carlson continued, claiming that he was not defending Adolf Hitler. “That was German territory with Germans in it. That was his case. And by the way, that was true.”
But Hitler did not limit himself to taking back the 15% of Polish territory where ethnic Germans were living. He wanted to, and did, seize all of Poland. And more than Poland. He had already shown his intentions went beyond Poland in the Munich agreement of 1938, which allowed Germany to take over the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia, where all of the Czech fortifications were located. The vast buildup in weapons production in Germany showed Hitler was preparing to attack not just Poland but much of western and central Europe.
“The UK had nothing to do with it at all. And they destroyed their empire and their country fighting this war that they still pretend was a good idea, but it wasn’t,” Carlson said of Britain’s involvement in the Second World War.
Did the UK “destroy its empire” by taking part in World War II? All of its colonial possessions in Africa remained intact. India did achieve its independence in 1947, but that had been in the works long before World War II. Did the UK “destroy itself” by fighting so valiantly in World War II or did it win the admiration of the entire free world?
So Tucker Carlson thinks the UK should have not entered the war, but left the German war machine to devour the Continent. And after that conquest, he wants us to believe that Hitler would not have then turned his attention to the UK. That’s not what Churchill believed, and it is certainly not how the Nazis behaved, as the Wehrmacht rolled through Europe, and prepared its bombers and V-2 rockets at Peenemunde to launch the Blitz on London, while Hitler ranted against the British. History is clearly not Tucker Carlson’s strong suit.
He further alleged that “the idea that Hitler just randomly rolled into Poland is a lie… Hitler repeatedly said, ‘I do not want to go to war with the UK,’” he continued.
Who says Hitler “randomly rolled into Poland”? He made up a casus belli, a supposed attack by Poland. It was in fact a false flag SS attack, with German operatives dressed in Polish uniforms attacking a German radio station in Gleiwitz on August 31, 1939. Hitler claimed that Poland had attacked Germany first and that German forces merely “fired back.”
And as for Hitler supposedly saying, many times, that “I do not want to go to war with England,” that remark was clearly meant only to persuade the British not to enter the war until it was too late, after Hitler had conquered the Continent.
Rees-Mogg expressed surprise at Carlson’s remarks about Hitler.
“I’m very surprised you’re verging on defending Hitler. I think this is not really what you want to be doing,” he said.
“Yeah, I guess I’m just a secret Nazi,” Carlson replied before quickly asserting, “I’m actually not a secret Nazi. And hardly a public Nazi. I’m just someone who tries to think clearly about cause and effect.”…
Carlson is someone who refuses to recognize the Nazi threat to Western civilization. By arguing that the UK should have refused to fight the Germans, he shows himself willing to have had the Nazis conquer the Continent, and assumes that they would have then left the UK alone. But there is no evidence for this. Hitler always planned to conquer Great Britain, once the Wehrmacht had rolled over most of Europe.
Carlson asserted that from his perspective, World War II caused Britain to lose sovereignty and self-respect. “I don’t think it was a good thing for you at all,” he told Rees-Mogg.
What a farcical view: Great Britain did not “lose self-respect” from World War II. It emerged victorious, the nation that once stood alone against Hitler after much of Europe had been conquered and before the Americans entered the war. What can Tucker Carlson be thinking?
It was not enough for Tucker Carlson to be a raving antisemite. Now he reveals himself to be a defender of the Nazis, who in his view should have been allowed to take over Europe while the UK stayed out of the fight. He has no moral qualms about such a Nazi takeover. That is all you need to know about Tucker Carlson.

Britain’s mistake was not fighting Germany sooner.
During the 1938 crisis, high-ranking Germans secretly approached the British and asked them to stand firm against Hitler’s demands for territory of Czechoslovakia. They said they would overthrow Hitler when he started the threatened war. They would justify the coup to the German people by saying that Germany would have lost a war against the combined forces of Britain, France, Czechoslovakia, and possibly other countries.
But Britain’s Neville Chamberlain chose appeasement. The next year, Hitler took most of the rest of Czechoslovakia. The Reich was made stronger and the opposing countries lost Czechoslovakia. Importantly, Stalin decided that Britain and France did not have the stomach to fight Hitler. The USSR switched sides, forming an alliance with Germany. They then invaded Poland in 1939.
Britain and France finally went to war against Germany, but very nearly lost. Hitler “snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.” Had they stood firm in 1938, they would have avoided war if the German coup was successful. But even if the coup failed, they would have won at far lower cost than they ultimately wound up paying.

I was reading some of the YouTube comments, and some definitely agreed w/ Tucker on Britain’s entry into the wars, particularly WWI. Also one of them noted that he’d rather have German being spoken in the streets of England than Hindi. Again, w/o endorsing the Nazis, I’d say that he was right

It’s worth noting that Jacob Rees-Mogg,.actively took part in the 14 years of treason by the Tories.
Plenty of those in Reform UK now as well. I just hope they at the time were towing the party line and can now think for themselves.

This is all part of his belief system. I’ll explain it. Hitler is pretty big in pro Palestine circles, even in the Arab world believe it or not. Palestine has a book store called “Hitler”.
Anyway, Tucker is now fully on board with Islam and he is basically white washing all of their beliefs, their wars their geopolitical historical outlook. He wants us to doubt our history, our values.
He must align his sector of right wing followers precisely with the beliefs of Muslims world wide if they are to combine their forces and align.
Think about it. A Tucker supporting Christian and an Islamist begin having a conversation, and they agree on so much. Then the Muslim talks about how great Hitler is, how misunderstood he he is, what a victim he is… the Tucker supporter would be uncomfortable with this with his historical knowledge being Hitler was the aggressor and a person with bad intentions. Tucker is cleaning this up so they can seamlessly merge MAGA Christianity with islamism.
Not related, but even bigger than Hitler, a topic that contradicts islamism and Tuckers MAGA is the huge problem of Islamic persecution of Christians (since Jews don’t matter any more). This is tough for Tucker and his Muslims. They have just decided to become ostriches and stick their head in the ground and pretend Israel kills all the Christians, and Muslims protect them.

I watched the entire interview. Much as I disdain Tucker these days, Jacob Rees-Mogg came out as less than impressive. Also, while I loathe Tucker’s stance on Israel and the Nazis here, there were some points he made that made good sense
1. In WWI, he did raise a legitimate question about Britain going to war against Germany over Belgium, a country w/ which it shared nothing. Yeah, France had an alliance w/ Russia, but Britain wasn’t a part of it. Besides, the Second Reich wasn’t trying to conquer Belgium: it just wanted the right of passage through Walloonia into France, so the threat wasn’t the same as it was in WWII
2. On the threat to Britain in WWII, Jacob Rees-Mogg was right that Hitler’s statements were meaningless. But the assertion that Britain wants every sovereign country to remain sovereign was disingenous. If Russia was expected to respect the sovereignty of its neighborhood, would Britain – and the British Right in particular – Tories, Reform and Respond – tolerate the idea of Scotland or Wales or Northern Ireland seceding from the United Kingdom?
3. On the Treaty of Versailles, Mogg’s views were as clear as mud. Was the Treaty of Versailles unduly harsh on the Weimar Republic or not? Yeah, one argument was that it was more generous than the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk.but the other argument was that there was no way the Weimar Republic could be properous for at least 50 years. That was the mistake that the Allied side (not including the Soviets) avoided making in 1945. Mogg left no hints about where he stood, other than arguing that the Brits should have dictated the terms, instead of leaving it to the French
4. Tucker did make a valid point on whether countries far removed from our own should be defended w/ our blood. Like why would British troops be sacrificed for either Belgium or Poland, or today, why would British troops be there to protect Ukraine. Essentially, his point seemed to be that every country’s army should only protect their own borders
5. However, Jacob Rees-Mogg really sounded like a glorified bureaucrat when he said that the rubber dinghies washing up on England’s southern shores were a “civil” problem rather than an invasion, and did not require the Royal Navy. Instead, bringing up foreigners who overstay their visas. Reminded me of Jeb Bush in 2016, who said the same thing, and went on to be obliterated in the GOP primaries that year
6. Tucker did make a good point that if Brits ended up speaking German as a result of a Nazi conquest, that would be an improvement on today’s immigrants who can hardly speak English, and who seem to have made Arabic, Urdu, Somali and other non-Germanic languages the lingua-franca in Britain. That said, Tucker himself has bought property in Qatar – hardly an English speaking country, and whose people speak one of those languages of the invaders of Britain
7. Also, Tucker has gone out of his way in interviews to defend islam, describing the submission (that islam means) to imply submission to God. Given that, how exactly would he condemn those mass rapes of English girls all over England, when those are qur’anically sanctioned? And if he’s not going to condemn them, why condemn the invasion of England at all? Just b’cos locals now have to witness street signs in Nastaliq, w/ no idea about what they say or mean?
8. Towards the end, he asked Mogg about the arrest of people who chang “From the River to the Sea”. Except that nobody has been arrested for saying that, nor marching w/ Balestinian flags. However, people have been arrested for marching w/ 🇬🇧 or 🏴 flags, and interestingly, that was not one thing that Tucker chose to bring up
9. Tucker was also ludicrous in starting that Russians have more freedom than Brits in opposing their government. While it is pathetic that Brits can get arrested for thought crimes, in Russia, it is considered criminal to oppose the current war in Ukraine. He condemned Ukraine for cancelling their elections, but no sane country can have an election during wartime
10. While talking about Britain losing “self-respect”, Tucker makes a direct leap from 1945 – when the war was won – to 1997, when Tony Blair opened up Britain to mass immigration by Muslims, making that 52 year period appear like a black hole in time, rather than an era where Britain was reasonably prosperous by Western standards
While discussing 2014, Tucker happened to be in the right. The ouster of then newly elected President Viktor Yanukovich, who today lives in exile in Russia, was what followed his legitimate election, followed by a new edict making Ukrainian the sole official language of Ukraine, and prompting the Russian invasion of Crimea.
Tucker however was correct that the US, represented by James Baker, gave Mikhail Gorbachev a verbal commitment that in lieu of a united Germany being allowed to remain in NATO, that it would not be expanded eastwards towards Russia. Only thing about that pledge was that it wasn’t on paper, and I guess Russians resent Gorbachev for not insisting that it be ratified in a treaty. In 1997, when NATO started adding countries like Poland, Hungary, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania,… President Yeltsin too asked to join, but was rebuffed by Clinton. Thereby leaving the impression that the West hadn’t let go of its Cold War era hostility towards the Kremlin, even though the Kremlin was no longer a metonym for the CPSU and a World Revolution, and that nothing that the Russians did would satisfy the West
I also have no idea why Tucker was so annoyed at Britain losing India and its other colonies in Africa and elsewhere. Even Brits don’t seem to want that back, but here he is, thinking that it would have been a good idea had Britain never entered the war, but held on to its colonies as a result
I haven’t watched Tucker since he went rogue, and didn’t plan to here either. However, Jacob Rees-Mogg demonstrated exactly what’s wrong w/ establishment conservatives in the West – be it in Europe, Britain or America, when he refused to acknowledge the problems like islamization (which incidentally Tucker never brought up) have brought to the United Kingdom

Neville Chamberlain was not naive , he was slick His secret thinking was that he should not sacrifice British Lives for the sake of Czechoslovakia! He just pretended to be naive
Wellington says
No, I don’t think so. Chamberlain actually believed Hitler at Munich in September of 1938 that the Sudetenland was Hitler’s last territorial claim. All this came crashing down on Chamberlain in March of 1939 when Hitler moved in and took the rest of Czechoslovakia. This explains why even Chamberlain then realized that Hitler had lied to him and this is why Chamberlain then offered Poland the guarantee that he did, though as Churchill noted at the time this guarantee came way too late and with the inability to realistically enforce it.
Wellington says
For Tucker Carlson to be correct one has to believe that Hitler would have treated Britain as an equal once he fulfilled his goal of Lebensraum as outlined in Mein Kampf. This would not have occurred. Churchill knew this. Carlson doesn’t.

Tucker Carlson is stupid to say that the United Kingdom should have stayed out of World War II. He must be ignorant of history and out of touch with reality. Adolph Hitler was not only trying to conquer Europe, He was also trying to conquer the United Kingdom. Adolph Hitler had to be stopped with a major war to stop his conquering of the world. In years past I used to like the commentaries of Tucker Carlson, but not any more.
Wellington says
Correct. Hitler prophesized that the world would come down to five powers controlling it—Germany, Italy, Japan, Britain and America. Eventually, however, it would come down to two powers—Germany and America, and in the final battle for world supremacy Germany would defeat America.
All this was laid out in Mein Kampf. Churchill read Mein Kampf and thus knew what Hitler was up to. Others, like Chamberlain and Lord Halifax, did not read said work and thus were clueless all along (as were numerous other appeasers on both sides of the Atlantic, and still continuing with a fool like Carlson). And this is why anyone stating that Britain should have stayed out of WWII doesn’t know what the Hell they are talking about.
