It seems likely that someone at Flydubai was sympathetic to the jihad against Israel and wanted to see this Omani jihadi take down a plane full of Israelis.
“Omani hijacker who stabbed fellow pilot ‘was a religious extremist who refused to shake hands with women’: Israel launches probe into how ‘terrorist’ was cleared to fly as Flydubai jets are grounded,” by Isabella Machin, Daily Mail, October 1, 2026:
Israel is probing how a religious extremist from Oman who stabbed his co-pilot during a hijacking described as ‘Israel’s 9/11’ was cleared to fly….
A fellow pilot has also now claimed the assailant – who is believed to be an Omani national – was a religious extremist.
Speaking in Hebrew on Israel’s Channel 16, foreign editor and news anchor Yosef Yisrael described how he spoke to a colleague of the attacker, who wishes to remain anonymous.
In a translated version, Mr Yisrael reads out how the violent pilot ‘was someone characterised by very strange behaviour, especially around religious observances that were out of step with his surroundings [at Flydubai]. For instance, he used to pray a lot, and would not shake hands with women’.
Mr Yisrael said his source ‘expressed contrition’ and said Flydubai had ‘betrayed Israel’.
‘There is no other way to put it, we hired the services of a terrorist and nearly caused the deaths of 180 people,’ Mr Yisrael said the man told him. ‘Usually only Emiratis fly to Israel. It is not clear how he got on this flight.’
Mr Machchhar was hailed for saving the lives of those 174 passengers on board. While cruising mid-air, the hero was able to fight off his co-pilot in the cockpit and his attempts to sabotage the plane’s systems.
Israel is now investigating how the alleged terrorist was cleared to fly the plane bound for Tel Aviv, given Oman has no diplomatic relations with Israel and foreign crew flying into its airspace are strictly controlled.
Flydubai has now grounded all its jets to and from Israel as it probes the incident….
While flying over Saudi Arabia, it briefly issued a code of 7500, signalling unlawful interference or a hijacking. Officials feared the incident could have become another ‘September 11’ attack, adding that passengers had prevented an ‘Israeli 9/11’ by tying up the assailant….

Query: What Muslim in a completely sane, non-PC and informed world should be cleared to fly? Is anyone who really knows what Islam is truly all about perfectly fine knowing that a Muslim is the pilot on the plane they’re on? No way I would argue.
Muslims, you have brought this upon yourselves. Yes you have. Your scriptures are filled with calls to slay the infidel and your numerous schools of theology, both Sunni and Shiite, have no hesitation in declaring non-Muslims the equivalent of human waste. Your psychotic Profit (yes, the spelling here is correct) encouraged killing in the name of Allah and himself if obeisance was not forthcoming. Your religion is sick to its core, an insult to fine religions like Christianity, Hinduism and Judaism, and there is no excuse, no excuse at all, for continued adherence to this wretched religion. None.

Islam is bad says
Repost from an earlier thread …
The risk of allowing Muslims to serve as commercial airline pilots is unacceptable.
The potential risk is that the Muslim pilot will turn instant Jihadi, and crash the plane, killing all on board, as well as potentially killing people on the ground.
An Egyptian Muslim pilot, Gameel Al-Batouti, turned instant Jihadi and crashed EgyptAir Flight 990 in 1999. Gameel Al-Batouti was recorded saying “Tawakkaltu ‘ala Allah” (I put my trust in Allah) numerous times after turning off the autopilot and reducing the engines to idle in order to deliberately crash the plane into the Atlantic Ocean.
The pilot of the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 (MH370), that is believed to have been deliberately crashed into the southern Indian Ocean in March 2014, was a Malaysian Muslim pilot who probably turned instant Jihadi and killed everyone on board.
And now an Omani Muslim pilot has turned instant Jihadi in 2026 on this Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv and attempted to deliberately crash the plane, before his plan was thwarted.
The risk of allowing Muslim commercial pilots to control the lives of innocent passengers is too high. One can never be certain that a seemingly normal Muslim pilot won’t turn instant Jihadi. As Churchill once alluded, Jihadism in Muslims is like rabies in dogs – one can never be certain when it might suddenly present itself.
All commercial airlines should be banned from allowing Muslims to be commercial pilots. The risk is too great.
somehistory says
Yes, I was thinking of those other muzzie pilots who murdered many, but didn’t take time to research their names and times…..so thanks.
LINDA says
Yep ditto
Islam is bad says
If commercial airlines are unwilling to ban Muslim pilots, due to misguided pressure from the Left Wing allies of the Muslims, then the commercial airlines allowing Muslim pilots should be required to hold insurance that would pay out $1 billion in compensation for every passenger and crew able to be seated on the plane, with a further $1 billion per person later paid for anyone killed on the ground by the plane crash.
If political and moral pressure isn’t successful in preventing commercial airlines from hiring Muslim pilots, then perhaps commercial pressures arising from the financial cost of high insurance would dissuade commercial airlines from hiring Muslim pilots.
There are some jobs that it is too risky Muslims to allow Muslims to do.
LINDA says
Yep this is clearly unacceptable and ridiculous to let Muzz pilot planes i mean really come on folx have we not learned our lesson? PRAISE THE LORD that they stopped this from being another flight 93 type of deal and wow got it landed safely. And apparently IDF was gonna go fly to SA rescue all of them BUT SA refused so they all had to get on another plane to fly to Israel. I might have said no man bring me the IDF military plane rescue dudes or I aint goin anywhere! But I also get if they REFUSE then sux to hop on another plane. Just think bout the poor children traumatized by that. I might have been like Dustin Hoffman in Rainman beating my head no man not gettin on that plane. Anywho SA you suck for NOT letting Israeli military guys come pick up everyone from that atrocity.

It is really not clarified very well. The fact that a ‘religious’ guy wouldn’t shake the hands of women is not bizarre, but rather how they react to people offering a handshake. I know a religious Jewish guy who’s a long distance runner. He runs with others frequently but he very politely turns down hand shakes with women and most often apologizes and says something like ‘I’m sorry, my beliefs are that I only hold my wifes hand, or my mom or grandmother… please don’t take offense” In short, he’s very deferential about this and does apologize Now… if some guy, who’s a muslim refuses a handshake with women, but doesn’t actually apologize for the practice, then… he’s out there as it were. But for all those who sadly say that they have a fear of any muslim pilot, it is too true. When do you know when they’ve abandoned the rest of humanity and are willing to destroy a plane of innocents? This should be discussed frankly in the public sphere and you can bet that not only won’t it be discussed but leftists and muslims will rage that this is why they sometimes destroy things because people are so racist and Islamophobic.
somehistory says
When growing up, I was taught that the woman should be the first to hold out a hand. But I found over the years that most men don’t wait but proceed to hold out theirs to shake with me.
Telling the Truth, I have to say most of the time, I would rather not shake with them.
It’s a personal thing. It once was for the purpose of shaking weapons from the other’ person’s sleeve. Many consider it an insult if they offer, and it is declined.
I appreciate that someone tells me that they don’t shake hands,, and I don’t offer my hand very often., so I am not easily offended.
mgoldberg says
Again, if someone contravenes a custom, and apologizes it shows the quality of personal contact without dismissing the other. The guy I spoke about has demonstrated that any number of times and he’s very observant as a Jew but realizes that it’s important not to stand on ceremony and appear aloof and arrogant. There are people who do act at least a bit distant with there hands in their pockets modes but as Jews I never consider any of them capable of blowing up an airplane. And yes, I wonder about muslims because ‘Jihadists’ have a 1400 yr record of taking out others and I don’t mean on a date.

the individual mattes and each one has a right to personal choices.
Some groups of people are more easily trusted than others. Little old ladies are not likely to be serial killers, although there have been a few like Ma Barker…
Most groups of people who identify as Christians, and those who identify as Jews, can be trusted not to blow up, or deliberately crash, airliners.
But, as I stated, I’m not prone to handshaking, so if a man like your friend did not hold out his hand to me, I would not be offended, and I wouldn’t expect an apology.as I would see it as a waiting for me to go first.
muzzies are in their own category, so I have no expectations of shaking hands…I would not offer mine…. and I don’t want to fly with one at the controls.
Tim gallagher says
I suppose I hadn’t really thought about it but, with this near catastrophe, I thought why would Israelis get on a plane where the pilot could be a Muslim who would, no doubt, hate all Jewish people. In the report above it says that usually Emirati planes fly on the route, but how would that be safe from Muslim scum with their murderous hatred towards Jewish people.

The Israeli passengers in that plane by using physical might to overpower that Muslim terrorist. That is the way by which such men should be dealt with. As the third President of the United States ,Thomas Jefferson, had so ,rightly and wisely, ,declared “With every barbarous people …force is law.”
It’s also very much worth noting that there definitely is something demonically evil about a religion which inspires some of its followers to become , as it is termed “Dangerous to self and others.”

How was a weapon allowed to be taken in a flight ?

Good question. Either security is very poor there, or–worse–some of security agreed with his boarding the plane armed.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Another aspect that I saw brought up was from OpIndia, where They raised the question of whether Omani pilots can fly planes to Israel. Their main argument was that Israel has a policy of only allowing into Israel pilots from countries that have diplomatic relations w/ it. India (the country of Capt Smit Machchhar’s citizenship) does, and so does the Emirates, which is why FlyDubai was allowed in
But Oman doesn’t. While Israel and Oman did have clandestine friendly relations during Sultan Qaboos, that never materialized into diplomatic relations: when the Abraham Accords started materializing b/w Israel and some Arab countries. Emirates, Bahrein, Morocco and Sudan all signed it, but Oman didn’t: maybe they wanted to preserve their status as a negotiator b/w the islamic Republic and countries like the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia and so on
So that’s one thing Israel should enforce: that airline crew members are all from countries that have diplomatic relations w/ Israel. Incidentally, while they are at it, they should not include countries like Turkey in that

Let’s call this for what it is; Islamic Terrorism. It’s time to follow the old rules of the Law of War, and the Geneva Convention when it comes to these pricks.
Madeline Brooks says
Two things US airlines can do to protect their flights. 1) Post names and photos of all crew members, including flight attendants. These should be posted both well before the flight and just before boarding, in case a change has been made. 2) Failing that, start up airlines that can skirt DEI regs by promising to do ultra thorough background checks of all personnel. They will be sued, of course, but they will still have a loyal following. Call them the Fox News of the skies.
Ralph says
Mooslimes should not be in commercial aircraft whether as crew or passengers as they are inherently untrustworthy. The same exclusion should apply to any civilized nation (i.e., non-Muslim) in that all Mooslimes should be deported. They don’t play well with others and others would be well to ostracize them for their own survival.
Raj Dave says
I presume the islamophiles would consider it Islamophobia if one refuses to fly on plane that has a Muslim pilot.

Flydubai co-pilot who tried to crash plane was ‘religious extremist’ — how was he cleared to fly?

Looks as though he was fired from his Omani airline–not surehow he wound up flying for Dubai.
