The persecution of Christians in Egypt is intensifying. Take the case of Dr. Augustinos Samaan, for example, an Egyptian Coptic Christian scholar and YouTuber sentenced to five years of hard labor under the country’s blasphemy law for creating educational videos comparing Christianity and Islam on his channel, which has over 100,000 subscribers.
He is also enduring torture in addition to suffering the passing of his mother, who died from grief after his sentencing.
We must never forget the Christians persecuted under sharia. And we must do all in our power to free them from it.

On Jan. 3, Egyptian Christian Augustinos Samaan was sentenced to five years of hard labor after he was convicted of “contempt of religion” and “misuse of social media.”
Samaan has a YouTube channel on which he posts apologetics videos comparing Christianity and Islam. Because of these videos, he was arrested on Oct. 1, 2025, and his pre-trial detention was extended in 15-day increments until the court sentenced him in January, without ever allowing his defense to see his case file.
He was convicted under Article 98(f) of the Egyptian Penal Code, which penalizes “extremist thoughts with the aim of instigating sedition and division or disdaining and contemplating any of the heavenly religions or the sects belonging thereto, or prejudicing national unity or social peace.” A five-year prison sentence is the maximum punishment under Article 98(f).
An attorney with ADF International now represents Samaan. He submitted an appeal of his conviction on April 24 of this year….

The US government should threaten to cut off the billions of aid the USA gives them every year and put Egypt on a do not travel list unless this man is freed and they apologize and repeal their blasphemy law. One thing Muslims do understand is money, and they love it.

I wonder if Trump will raise this matter with President Abdel el-Sisi – who is proving a total dead loss. This man a few years back called for reforms to Islam.
