Islamic terrorism is not a later invention. It continues what the earliest texts and the earliest biography already permit. The test is not later apology. The test is the Sirah, the hadith, and the verses the killers still cite.
What is counted here
Terrorism here means unlawful force, or the threat of it, against people or property, used to intimidate a society or a government for an ideological end. A theft for money is outside that frame. The bombings and mass killings in Nigeria, New York, Pakistan, India, Israel, Algeria, Indonesia, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, France, England and elsewhere, carried out by men who name Allah and the example of Muhammad, sit inside it. Muhammad’s own turn from preacher to organizer of killing tracked the growth of his armed following.
When fighting was permitted
Ibn Ishaq records that Muhammad had no permission to fight or shed blood before the second pledge at Aqaba. The order until then was to call people to Allah, bear insult, and forgive. That record does not make the later killing a distortion. Ta’if had already driven him out with stones. In Mecca he was already seeking a protector. No verse for blood followed those injuries. Guillaume’s Sirah places the permission after armed men in Medina pledged war on the Quraysh and departure was close. The verses later numbered 22:39–41 call it permission for those who have been wronged. Verse 2:193 then orders fighting until fitna is gone and the religion is Allah’s alone. The injury is the reason the text gives. The armed pledge is when the text gives it. As Muslim power grew, the killing moved from named targets to open campaigns.
Jews killed on command
In Medina the same sources record orders against Jews who were not in the field. Ibn Ishaq states that the Muhammad said, “Kill any Jew that falls into your power.” Muhayyisa ibn Mas‘ud then killed Ibn Sunayna, a Jewish merchant with whom the Muslims traded and mixed. When his non-Muslim brother objected, Muhayyisa answered that if the man who ordered the killing had ordered him to kill his own brother, he would have done it. Sunan Abi Dawud (Book 13, Number 2996) carries the same report: after victory over the men of the Jews, kill them. Ibn Ishaq and al-Waqidi add that the morning after Ka‘b ibn al-Ashraf was assassinated, the prophet said, “Kill any Jew you can lay your hands on.” Al-Tabari records the same order. Abu ‘Afak, described as about 120 years old, had urged Medinans to question Muhammad. The prophet asked that he be killed. The order was carried out. Tradition lays the siege of Banu Qaynuqa, the murder of Ka‘b, and the attack on Banu Qurayza on divine order. These were not battlefield deaths. The victims were targeted because they were Jews and outside Muhammad’s authority.
People of the Book, idolaters, and broken terms
The Qur’an, in the reading of the classical commentators, extends the same order to Jews and Christians as peoples. Surah 9:29 commands fighting those who do not believe in Allah or the Last Day, do not forbid what Allah and his messenger forbid, and do not follow the religion of truth, until they pay the jizya in submission and feel themselves subdued. Tafsir al-Jalalayn reads the verse as applying to the People of the Book and as requiring humiliation under Islamic rule. Ibn Ishaq explains the tax as compensation for markets closed when polytheist practice ended. In the frame the biography supplies, refusal of conversion or payment left death.
For idolaters the order is sharper. Surah 9:5 states that when the sacred months are over, the idolaters are to be slain wherever found, seized, besieged, and ambushed. Only repentance, prayer, and alms buy safe passage. Ibn Ishaq’s account of the “discharge” that preceded this verse describes a revelation freeing Muhammad from agreements with polytheist tribes after the pilgrimage, including tribes that held particular treaties, and authorizing attack once four months had passed. The raid on Tabuk sits in the same narrative as an action that took submission and payment from a Christian locality. Terms were set aside when power allowed.
Apostasy
Apostasy drew the same sanction. Sahih al-Bukhari records Muhammad saying that the blood of a confessing Muslim may be shed in three cases only: retaliation for murder, the married person who commits unlawful sexual intercourse, and the one who leaves Islam and leaves the Muslims. A further report says Ali burned certain apostates. Ibn ‘Abbas objected to the fire, because Muhammad had forbidden punishment by fire, and still affirmed the ruling: “Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.” Another narration from Ali quotes Muhammad on young people who will leave the faith like an arrow leaving game, and commands, “Wherever you find them, kill them,” with a reward promised on the Day of Resurrection. Exit from the community, like refusal to submit, is treated as grounds for killing.
October 7, 2023, about 6:29 a.m. Hamas Massacre
Before that morning the Muslim terrorists who crossed the fence had been prepared. The verses put into them were the ones that order the killing of those who do not submit, the striking of necks, and the subjugation of Jews and Christians: “kill any Jew that falls into your power,” Surah 8:12, Surah 9:5, Surah 9:29. That was the intoxication.
At about 6:29 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists opened the attack. It was Shabbat, the national day of rest, and the holiday of Simchat Torah, so many civilians were at home or with their friends and families. That morning more than 3,000 rockets were fired at Israeli towns and cities as cover for the infiltration from the Gaza Strip. In the first hours the count ran to about 3,700. Iron Dome intercepted many. It did not stop the Islamic assault. Civilians in the Gaza envelope have 15 seconds or less once the alert sounds. Ashkelon has 30 seconds. Tel Aviv has 90. Many Nova partygoers and other civilians ran into public shelters. Hamas terrorists Slaughtered them there.
Thousands of Mass Murderers then crossed the fence. Later IDF probes put the invading force near 5,600. They entered cities, towns and kibbutzim, murdering, raping and kidnapping babies, children, the elderly and whole families. Parents saw their children killed. Children saw their parents killed. Some of those children were then taken to Gaza. More Jews were killed that day than on any single day since the Holocaust. About 1,200 people were killed. 251 were kidnapped by Muslims.
Among the Mass Murderers were men drawing UNRWA pay. Israel named UNRWA terrorist employees who crossed with Hamas, joined the killings and the kidnappings, and held Israeli hostages. UNRWA did not expose them. Israel did. In August 2024 the UN’s own inquiry, still hiding behind the line that the evidence had to be authenticated, tied nine of its employees to the 7 October attacks and only then ended their contracts. Israel reported that hundreds more UNRWA Muslim staff in Gaza were operatives of Hamas and other jihad groups. The agency paid to feed Gaza had the killers of Israeli civilians on its books that morning. Sacking nine men after the dead were counted does not wash the payroll. It confesses it.
Terrorists burned people and pets alive, children among them, looted homes, set houses and neighborhoods on fire, took civilians and bodies, and filmed it. One terrorist called his parents from a victim’s phone and said he had butchered ten Jews, including the woman whose phone he had taken and her husband. In Ashkelon, Sderot and Ofakim, Israelis hiding in their homes filmed gunmen driving with rifles and RPGs, shouting “Allahu Akbar.” On Road 232 they shot civilians on the roads, in shelters and at intersections, then drove on to the communities. They shot the old, fathers and mothers with children, and teenagers. They also killed whoever was in the way, including foreign workers. It took hours to clear the streets. The raids hit Alumim, Be’eri, Ein HaShlosha, Holit, Kfar Azza, Magen, Nahal Oz, Netiv HaAsara, Nir Am, Nir Oz, Ofakim, Sderot, Sufa, Yachini and Zikim.
In Kibbutz Nir Oz about one in four residents was killed or abducted. The Kedem-Siman Tov family, three adults and three children under seven, were murdered in the safe room of their home. The Bibas family was taken from Nir Oz that morning, including baby Kfir. Shiri, Ariel and Kfir were later murdered in captivity. Their bodies were returned in February 2025. Yarden Bibas was released on February 1, 2025.
The Supernova festival near Kibbutz Re’im was an outdoor gathering. The site had been moved to Re’im two days before. More than 3,500 people, mostly aged 20 to 40, were there, with security guards and police. As the sun rose, rockets and sirens sounded. Muslim Gunmen in pickups, motorized paragliders and motorcycles fired into the crowd. Those who fled were shot. Those who reached shelters were murdered or dragged out. Survivors reported men, women and corpses mutilated and raped. The IDF’s April 2025 probe counted 378 killed, 344 of them civilians, and 44 kidnapped. It was the largest terror attack on a festival on record.
Rape and sexual mutilation of women, men and corpses were part of the attack. Nova survivors described it. Captured terrorists confirmed it under interrogation. The UN mission led by Pramila Patten found reasonable grounds for rape and gang rape at Nova, Road 232 and Re’im, and clear information that jewish hostages were subjected to sexual violence in Gaza. Hostages later freed or rescued said they were beaten, sexually abused and tortured. The terrorists filmed kidnappings and sent them on Telegram. Families learned that way. Hamas later released further videos, including of hostages it had killed in captivity. Almost half of the 251 hostages were also foreign nationals, among them Americans, Argentines, Thais, Nepalis and Filipinos.
The acts that followed were the acts the earliest biography already records. Jews were killed because they could be reached. Humiliation was filmed. A child in the house was not spared. The hatred on 7 October was not a break with Muhammad. It was an attempt to repeat him, and in the houses and the shelters to go as far as his example had already gone.
One Islamic chain
The texts and the earliest biography authorize fighting until religion is Allah’s, the killing of Jews who can be reached, the subjugation of Jews and Christians by tax or death, the breaking of terms when it pays, and the execution of apostates. When Hamas cites that inheritance and carries out mass killing, rape, burning, and kidnapping, it is applying the permissions in Ibn Ishaq, the major hadith collections, and Surahs 9 and 2. It is not inventing them. Set those permissions beside the dead, the hostages, and the filmed boasts of October 7. The correspondence stands.
Wellington says
Terrorism has been integral with Islam from Islam’s inception. As just one example from the Islamic texts themselves, Mohammed himself stated, “I have been made victorious with terror” (Bukhari Hadith 4.52.220). Over 50,000 documented Islamic terrorist attacks worldwide just since 9/11 confirms Islam’s enthrallment with terrorism all the more.
And here’s what is most important: No other religion condones such rot. To the extent that other religious believers engaged in indefensible violence in the name of their faith, they were doing so contra what their religious tenets asserted. Not so with Islam and the single greatest reason (there are others of course) why Islam is indeed the turd in the punch bowl of world religions. And this is all the more apt since, ironically, Islam in its many schools of theology, both Sunni and Shiite, look upon non-Muslims as the equivalent of human waste.
Got that wrong, Islam. Big time. You’re the turd among the world’s major religions. Easy call.
