How might leftists even attempt to debate UK Islamic scholar Haitham Al-Haddad, who is also chair of the Fatwa Committee for the Islamic Council of Europe? They couldn’t. Al-Haddad declared the truth regarding what Jihad Watch has been warning about for decades: that Islam does indeed aim to become a superpower. And not only a superpower, but THE global superpower, in the form of a global caliphate.
Haitham Al-Haddad is also surprisingly candid in admitting that an Islamic superpower means “oppression.” Islamic law is founded and sustained upon oppression — i.e., violence and abuse of anyone who opposes it. Infidels are viewed as opposing it as a matter of course; if they didn’t, they wouldn’t be infidels.

In a July 24, 2026 episode of the Islam 21c Podcast, UK Islamic scholar Haitham Al-Haddad, who serves as chair of the Fatwa Committee for the Islamic Council of Europe, said that “Islam aims to become a superpower.” He added that being a superpower is one of the aims of Muslims, but said it would not be a superpower like America, which he associated with oppression.
Al-Haddad said that historically, when Islam was a superpower, “atrocities like we see now” were not taking place, and that this is why Muslims should be a superpower. He quoted a verse from the Quran according to which Muslims are “the best nation” raised from mankind because they enjoin good and forbid evil. He elaborated that this is not because they are a passive nation, but because they are an active nation.
Haitham Al-Haddad: “I am clear that Islam aims to become a superpower. And this is the history of Islam. Yes. I’m not shying away from this. It is a fact, yeah.”
Interviewer: “Can we frame it like this? If you mean by ‘Islam aims to be a superpower’ meaning if we do what we should do as a Muslim community, Allah will gift us the power.”
Al-Haddad: “This is part of it, but to be a superpower, to be a superpower is one of our aims as Muslims. Not because we want to become like America. Why some people have a problem with this, because they think – again, it is a matter of language and connotation – they think that…”

Al-Haddad: “They think that, okay in their mind, in their perception, a superpower means oppression.”

I wouldn’t exactly call it being a “superpower”: rather, I’d call it the biggest geopolitical ideological threat to the world since Nazism & Communism. In fact, Nazism was just restricted to Germany, Italy, Spain and Japan (and some sympathizing countries in Latin America), while communism was the Soviet Union, China, Eastern Europe, random countries in Africa (Ethiopia, Angola, Mozambique,….)
islam, otoh, is a more solid, somewhat contiguous bloc – from Gambia continuous to Pakistan, and then skipping India, Burma & Thailand, there’s Bangladesh, Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia. There are some 50 countries that fall into this, and 7 non-muslim countries stupid enough to be members of the OIC

Then don’t insist islam is merely an evil religion. Islam is a hybrid ideology which does not fit well into western categories as it is culturally alien. The danger is in it being political.

I will insist on what I wish to insist. And if you think you can convince America judges, politicians, academics and lawyers that Islam is not a religion, I say give it a shot. It is not enough to come here to JW and say Islam is not a religion. Much, much more is needed and I don’t think you can pull it off. Finally, I have NEVER stated anything “merely” about Islam, including it being an evil religion. Done here.

Islam is obviously a religion of world domination. Its important therefore that the moniker ‘Muslim’ is defined clearly. For me a Muslim must believe in what Muhamad believed. Muhamad believed that Adam and Eve and heaven and hell are facts when like virtually everything in the Koran they are ant-scientific superstitious drivel. Racist hate speech I define as demonizing people outside your group and threatening them with violence. The KKK call black inferior people and name them insultingly as ‘niggers’ who should be lynched. Islam defines unbelievers as inferior and calls them ‘Kafirs’ which in the context of verse 98:6 is a synonym for niggers. It then threatens unbelievers with torture in the afterlife as a punishment for disbelieving ant-scientific nursery rhymes. Islam is therefor a racist religion of hate speech against their victimized superiors – non-Muslims. I’m not an atheist but I trust Richard Dawkins who has correctly defined Islam as an evil religion. It follows that the existential challenge now facing humanity is how to get rid of it without shedding blood.
