How might leftists even attempt to debate UK Islamic scholar Haitham Al-Haddad, who is also chair of the Fatwa Committee for the Islamic Council of Europe? They couldn’t. Al-Haddad declared the truth regarding what Jihad Watch has been warning about for decades: that Islam does indeed aim to become a superpower. And not only a superpower, but THE global superpower, in the form of a global caliphate.
Haitham Al-Haddad is also surprisingly candid in admitting that an Islamic superpower means “oppression.” Islamic law is founded and sustained upon oppression — i.e., violence and abuse of anyone who opposes it. Infidels are viewed as opposing it as a matter of course; if they didn’t, they wouldn’t be infidels.

In a July 24, 2026 episode of the Islam 21c Podcast, UK Islamic scholar Haitham Al-Haddad, who serves as chair of the Fatwa Committee for the Islamic Council of Europe, said that “Islam aims to become a superpower.” He added that being a superpower is one of the aims of Muslims, but said it would not be a superpower like America, which he associated with oppression.
Al-Haddad said that historically, when Islam was a superpower, “atrocities like we see now” were not taking place, and that this is why Muslims should be a superpower. He quoted a verse from the Quran according to which Muslims are “the best nation” raised from mankind because they enjoin good and forbid evil. He elaborated that this is not because they are a passive nation, but because they are an active nation.
Haitham Al-Haddad: “I am clear that Islam aims to become a superpower. And this is the history of Islam. Yes. I’m not shying away from this. It is a fact, yeah.”
Interviewer: “Can we frame it like this? If you mean by ‘Islam aims to be a superpower’ meaning if we do what we should do as a Muslim community, Allah will gift us the power.”

I wouldn’t exactly call it being a “superpower”: rather, I’d call it the biggest geopolitical ideological threat to the world since Nazism & Communism. In fact, Nazism was just restricted to Germany, Italy, Spain and Japan (and some sympathizing countries in Latin America), while communism was the Soviet Union, China, Eastern Europe, random countries in Africa (Ethiopia, Angola, Mozambique,….)
islam, otoh, is a more solid, somewhat contiguous bloc – from Gambia continuous to Pakistan, and then skipping India, Burma & Thailand, there’s Bangladesh, Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia.
