When you are sentenced to six months in prison for displaying a banner that says “Stop Islamization” as “incitement to hatred,” be certain: the Caliphate has arrived….
Such a sentence was handed down in 2021 to four members of the anti-Islamic group Voorpost in Brussels.
When you can no longer organize museum tributes to massacred cartoonists, be certain: the Caliphate has arrived.
Museums are afraid of a possible violent reaction from Muslims, who might vandalize their building and its permanent collection, and harm their personnel, if they were to display a tribute to the 12 Charlie Hebdo cartoonists murdered by Muslims. Can you blame them?
When you can no longer go into the largest bookstore and order a book critical of multiculturalism, be certain: the Caliphate has arrived.
The book in question is Multiculturalism: The Political Theory of Diversity Today by Andrew Shorten. You won’t find it in many bookstores, but it can be ordered online.
When Jews abandon certain neighborhoods and cities, be certain: the Caliphate has arrived.
Muslims have attacked Jews on the streets of London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Vienna, Amsterdam, Toulouse, Liège, New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. Dozens of synagogues have been subject to arson; vandals have attacked, and in some cases set fire to, kosher restaurants in Paris, Montreal, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Houston, and Berkeley.
When you can no longer walk around wearing a kippah, be certain: the Caliphate has arrived.
Jewish men and boys throughout western Europe have been covering their kippahs with baseball caps, having been advised for safety’s sake to do so. Jewish students have been urged not to wear kippahs while traveling to and from school. This has been deemed especially necessary in Berlin, Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Malmö, Copenhagen, Brussels, Amsterdam, and London, all cities where Jews wearing kippahs have been subject to violent attacks.
Meotti’s list is alarming. But is it true? Throughout western Europe, there are signs that the resistance to Islamization is rising, inexorably. Ten years ago, the Alternative für Deutschland, the German party that wants to end Muslim immigration, would not have been leading in the national polls, or won control of a state, as it has just now in Saxony-Anhalt. Nor would the National Rally in France, another party that inveighs against any further Muslim migration, have been in first place in the polls ten years ago, as it is today. Giorgia Meloni’s Fratelli d’Italia, which has now been in power longer than any Italian party since 1946, has quietly managed to slash the number of Muslim migrants landing at Lampedusa and on the Italian mainland. In the UK, crowds have gathered on the cliffs at Dover and Portsmouth, calling for the boats bringing migrants across the Channel to be destroyed: “Burn the boats.” They are waving Union Jacks and the Cross of St. George. Across Britain, people are protesting outside hotels where migrants are being housed. And both the Reform Party and the Restore Britain Party that want to halt Muslim migration are rising in the polls.
I present those facts by way of suggesting, or hoping, that Meotti’s mournful refrain that “the Caliphate has arrived” is too pessimistic. He may be right. I hope he’s wrong. Yet it must also be admitted that many Europeans oppose the parties that are trying to save Europe, and despise them for portraying Muslims as “the other.” They do not seem to realize that Islam itself has always had its own “other’’ — that is, all non-Muslims, whom they are commanded to hate, and to wage jihad against, and to subjugate, until the entire world is under Islamic domination. Muslims defined themselves in stark contrast to the Infidels. They curse the kuffar 17 times every day in their prayers. They read a Qur’an which contains more than 100 verses calling for fighting the Infidels, of striking terror in their hearts, of smiting at their necks, of cutting off their fingertips. They hew to the doctrine of Al-wala’ wa-l-bara’, loving and hating for the sake of Allah, which calls for loyalty to fellow Muslims, and hatred toward the Infidels. The Qur’an told the Muslims that they should not take Christians or Jews as friends. They were told that they were the “best of peoples” (3:110), while the Infidels were described as “the most vile of creatures” (98:6). Once you learn all that, you know exactly who’s been creating “the other,” and treating that “other” with permanent contempt and hatred. And it’s not the Europeans.
