Remember this the next time you hear Hamas claiming that Israel targeted civilians in Gaza, or that the U.S. hit civilians in Iran. This is just a tactic from the jihadi playbook, so as to gain victimhood status and adulation from the international media. That doesn’t mean that Pakistan didn’t hit civilians, but it was essentially inevitable that the Afghans would claim that it did, no matter what the Pakistanis actually hit.
In any case, this strike was revenge for the recent jihad attack at a mosque in Pakistan, and an attempt to end the jihadis’ ability to strike in Pakistan. The Pakistani government sponsors jihad activity against India, but when its own ox is gored, it starts striking jihad training camps. The Afghan jihadis want to topple the Pakistani government for not giving way to a caliphate and total Sharia rule. The Pakistani government is also committed to expanding the hegemony of Islam, but on its own terms.

The Afghan border provinces of Kunar and Paktika were struck overnight. Pakistan said 28 militants were killed, Afghanistan said three civilians died. This follows soon after an attack on police in Kohat, Pakistan.
Pakistan conducted airstrikes on northeastern Afghanistan on Monday on what Pakistan’s Ministry of Information described as suicide bomber training facilities.
It was the first Pakistani strike of its kind on Afghan territory since June, and followed soon after an attack targeting Pakistani police across the border in Kohat….
Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting claimed online that the attacks had targeted terrorist training sites in Afghanistan with “precision and accuracy.”
“Three targets were destroyed with precision including a Suicide Bombers training markaz [station], killing 28 terrorists alongside multiple suicide bombers. Large quantities of weapons and ammunition … were also destroyed,” the Ministry said.
The Taliban government in Kabul, meanwhile, claimed that three people were killed as it accused Pakistan of bombarding “civilian homes.”…
The reported strikes come after a suicide bombing and a 20-hour gun battle between militants and police on Friday, which took place at a district police headquarters compound in the Pakistani city of Kohat, situated near the Afghan border.
At least 31 people, including 16 police officers, were killed in the attack.

The Taliban has dismissed the allegations, saying that militancy in Pakistan is an internal problem.
