According to state news agency IRNA, President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to depart for New York on Tuesday, September 22, to attend the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Habibollah Abbasi, Director General of Public Relations for the President’s Office, told IRNA on Monday, September 21, that Pezeshkian’s itinerary includes addressing the UN General Assembly, meeting with several world leaders and attending officials, and gathering with Iranian expatriates living in the United States.
According to the report, Pezeshkian is also slated to hold discussions with American experts and think tank members.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi began his trip a day ahead of Pezeshkian, leading a diplomatic delegation that departed Tehran for New York on Sunday evening, September 20.
Prior to traveling to New York, Araghchi will make a brief stopover in Doha to consult with Qatari officials regarding the latest regional developments….

Unfortunately it’s the natural extension of having the UN headquartered in NYC. It’s not, nor should it be, up to the US to decide who can and who cannot speak at the UN or even attend it for that matter.

Both he and Araghchi (the foreign minister) have visas, but the State Department has made it clear that they won’t be allowed to bring their family in or have entourages shop in NYC for treasures they can then take back to Iran from money looted from the Iranian people. That’s one saving grace of him being given a visa
Although if Mahmoud Abbas could be denied a visa, so should both Pezeshkian and Araghchi
