Six Hindu women working for private companies in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, India, have approached the Amahiya police, accusing a man identified as Saif Pathan of repeatedly stalking and harassing them, and allegedly pressuring them to convert to Islam. The women submitted a complaint after, according to their allegations, Pathan continued approaching and following them, despite their repeated objections. Police subsequently registered a case and arrested Pathan, with a lower court sending him to jail.
The women work at different companies in the Samdariya area of Rewa, while Pathan’s office is reportedly located close to their workplaces. In their complaint, the women alleged that he repeatedly followed them around the workplace and surrounding areas. They also provided a detailed account of how Pathan followed them while they moved between the basement, lift, parking area, and washroom, and continued making unwanted comments despite being told to stop.
The women further claimed that Pathan repeatedly approached them, demanding that they convert to Islam. According to their account, he asked them to accompany him, marry him, and adopt his religion. One complainant told the media that he promised to keep her “like a queen” if she agreed to his demands. The women also shared that they repeatedly objected to his advances, but he continued to pursue them to a point of harassment.
The alleged harassment escalated on September 15, when Pathan entered the office of one of the women and damaged the property while she was working there. The woman also added that he made abusive or inappropriate remarks, and again pressured her to marry him and convert to Islam. Free Press Journal reported that the woman claimed Pathan had been following her for approximately 15 to 20 days before the incident at the office.
Seeing the situation getting worse and Pathan becoming more aggressive in his behavior, the women subsequently went to Amahiya police station and sought police protection. Reports initially described the matter as a complaint that police were examining. A later report published on September 26 said police had registered a case following the women’s complaints, and had arrested Pathan. Further, Rewa City Superintendent of Police Alok Verma confirmed that the women had indeed made formal complaints against Pathan at Amahiya police station, and station house officer Manoj Gautam led the police action against the accused.
As of the latest available reporting, Saif Pathan has been arrested and sent to jail following the women’s complaints, while further legal proceedings remain pending. Authorities will now examine the allegations of stalking, harassment, workplace misconduct, and pressure to convert to Islam through criminal investigation and court process.
The allegations in Rewa echo the much larger controversy surrounding the TCS Nashik workplace case, in which multiple employees alleged sexual harassment and pressure to convert to Islam. Police registered multiple FIRs in that case, while the National Commission for Women separately flagged allegations of religious discrimination and a hostile workplace environment.
The Rewa case differs in its circumstances, but the underlying concerns remain similar, with the allegations of harassment, pressure to convert Hindu women to another religion, and threats to their safety, dignity, and sense of security in and around the workplace. If Muslims in India repeatedly subject Hindu women to stalking, unwanted advances, intimidation, or pressure to change their religion, the consequences can extend well beyond the immediate incidents. Such experiences will eventually force Hindu women to alter their daily routines, avoid certain locations, seek transfers, take leave, or even consider leaving their jobs altogether. For this class of working women, who generally come from the middle class, such harassment will translate into lost income, stalled careers, and additional financial pressure.
The psychological and emotional consequences cannot be neglected, either. Persistent Muslim harassment in a country where Muslims murdering Hindu women has now become commonplace creates fear about traveling to work, using common workplace facilities, or leaving the office after working hours.
What these cases ultimately demand is stronger, religion-neutral enforcement of laws against stalking, harassment, intimidation and coercion, so that even women from Hindu community, particularly those from economically vulnerable backgrounds who are striving for financial independence and upward mobility, can pursue their careers without fear, interference or pressure over their personal faith.

The burden continues for mankind. The burden is the very existence of Islam. And it is why were every Muslim to wake up tomorrow a devout Christian, Hindu, Jew, Buddhist, et al. the world would be instantly better off—most certainly all non-Muslim women (and many Muslim women too).
