I think it was the John Wayne and Kirk Douglas movie War Wagon where the skill of 2 gunfighters was being compared. “I’d hate to live on the difference!” If Gore and Kerry had been in charge many of us would not be living now and Islam would have a death grip on the US. Prior to Uthman, the Quran was a collection of Christian and Judaic writings. Many of them are still in the Quran. Indeed, 1/4th of the Quran is St. Ephrem’s lectionaries; it reads word for word if you change the diacritical marks from Arabic back to Aramaic. But Uthman hijacked Islam and put the warlord stuff into the Quran that everyone hates.
For Uthman, Muhammad was Jesus Christ; so the few references to Muhammad in the Quran are referring to the Messiah which translates to Muhammad in Arabic. It was only after Uthman that Muhammad came to mean a fictional person who had a lot of issues.
2 billion people follow Uthman. A good first step is to start calling them disciples of Uthman.
Islam has an interesting story, but I don’t think it has ever been told. It should be published.
