Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker’s most pointed defense of banning political Islam is reflected in her view that “where believers and non-believers are treated differently, where men and women do not have equal rights, and where our institutions, authorities, and courts are not respected, that freedom ends.”
He’s absolutely correct on every level. These inequities between Muslims and non-Muslims are blatantly reflected in the Muslim demands that Western societies allow for the blaring of the Islamic call to prayer at the crack of dawn, waking up neighborhoods to accommodate Muslims, when no call to prayer blasted over loudspeakers is necessary, since cell phones exist. Also there are demands to wear the niqab in any public setting, preventing any identification of who is under that cloth. Unreasonable Muslim demands for the niqab have turned up even in court in Canada. Jihadists could be hiding weapons under niqabs anywhere. Chad banned the Islamic face veil after suicide bombings in 2015; explosives were hidden under niqabs. As for airports, the niqab should be strictly forbidden there. The Qur’an also states about full coverings:
“And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest, and to display of their adornment only what is apparent, and to draw their veils over their bosoms, and not to reveal their adornment except to their own husbands or fathers or husbands’ fathers, or their sons or their husbands’ sons, or their brothers or their brothers’ sons or sisters’ sons, or their women, or their slaves, or male attendants who lack desire, or children who know nothing of women’s nakedness. And do not let them stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And turn to Allah together, O believers, so that you may succeed.” (Quran 24:31)
If a woman does not cover, she is fair game to be assaulted:
“O prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their veils close around them. That will be better, so that they may be recognized and not molested. Allah is always forgiving, merciful.” (Quran 33:59)
This is not equal rights for women. The Sharia, which encompasses “political Islam,” has no place in Western countries whenever any one of its tenets collide with Western freedoms, or undermines Western history and culture. Muslim countries do not tolerate any infringement on their culture or religion.
Muslim religious rights should not trump the individual rights of Westerners. Muslim advocacy groups have been extremely exploitative of Western laws, while their water-carrying leftists have aided and abetted them.
Western constitutions should be able to stand on their own to allow for bans on “political Islam.” For instance, Western countries should never allow restrictions on speech that is deemed insulting to Islam. People in free societies are allowed to criticize any and all doctrines. Christians do not threaten widespread violence when Christianity or Jesus is insulted and even mocked. No one has ever raised concerns about insults to Christianity.
A constitutional ban would perhaps make clearer the obvious for Austrians, and Stocker’s efforts will be groundbreaking for the West. One hopes that it will set a precedent to be followed.

Austria’s government is beginning to work on a proposal to constitutionally ban “political Islam,” after Chancellor Christian Stocker called for the legislation and Integration and Europe Minister Claudia Bauer said she would draw up a proposal for the coalition partners.
ORF first reported on August 30 that Bauer is preparing the proposal and intends to send an outline to SPÖ and NEOS. This was then confirmed by Bauer on social media.
Stocker first raised the possible legislation in an interview with Heute on August 28. The chancellor expressed his intention to implement a constitutional law on political Islam, which he called “incompatible with democracy and Western values.”
In a statement, Stocker said, “I do not want our children and grandchildren to grow up in an Islamic state.”
