On Tuesday, President Donald Trump addressed the United Nations General Assembly with his characteristic directness and forthrightness, which had a particular impact in that hall of evasion, diversion, obfuscation and lies. He made it abundantly clear that the time for temporizing regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran is over, and he said that both he and the leaders of the Islamic Republic faced a stark choice.
Trump confronted head-on the claims that he is fighting an unnecessary war, noting the threat from the Islamic Republic has been longstanding, but that his predecessors preferred to appease the mullahs — or just ignore them altogether and hope that the “Death to America!”-chanting hordes would simply melt away.
Iran, Trump noted, posed an immense and immediate threat. “Just imagine,” Trump said, if “such a vile regime were ever empowered to carry out large-scale terror attacks from behind a nuclear shield. This was the reality we had to confront — a reality that far too many preferred to ignore. They all ignored it. Many presidents and many others just wanted to ignore it. They were unwilling to do anything about it, but they knew the problem.”
They knew it, but they did nothing, or even worse, sent billions over to Tehran, thereby financing the Islamic Republic’s jihad against Israel and the rest of the free world. Trump pointed out that he had given the Iranian leadership every chance to come to some kind of negotiated agreement: “After giving Iran every chance for a deal, I took action to ensure that neither the United States nor any nation in this hall would ever have to face such a nightmare, such a catastrophic problem.”
Although the Islamic Republic continues to insist that it has achieved a tremendous victory over the Great Satan, Trump came to the UN with the details: “As a result of Operation Epic Fury,” he said, “all 159 ships of their navy are now lying at the bottom of the sea. Likewise, their air force is gone. Their radar is gone. Their anti-aircraft equipment is gone. Their missile and drone manufacturing capacity is almost gone. Their economy is gone. The only thing that isn’t gone is inflation, which is destroying their country and is now well over 300 percent.” That inflation could be what finally does in the Islamic Republic from within.
Trump also reminded the hostile gang of alleged diplomats that he had bent over backwards to make peace with the murderous mullahs: “Yet even after we agreed to a ceasefire for nuclear discussions, Iran promptly violated it with brazen acts of terrorism against civilian ships from other countries.”

The portion of Trump’s speech to the UN, where he addressed Iran, is reminiscent of Moses’ speech to the Israelites in Deuteronomy 30:19: “ I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”
Iran’s leadership needs to unconditionally surrender, and Trump cannot compromise on this. The US needs an occupation force, just as we did when Japan surrendered after WWII. After Iran agrees to this, the actual details will fall into place.
If Iran chooses death, there will be no turning back.
I wonder if Iran’s leadership still believes that Allah will bail them out of their current predicament. If so, where was Allah when the US destroyed their navy, air farce, air defense radar, Fordo, and most of their drone manufacturing ability?

One thing that I liked about Trump’s speech was his reference to the current regime in Iran as the islamic republic. I liked that subtle shift in rhetoric, and hope that in future, the term “Iran” and “Iranian” is used exclusively to refer to the Iranian people, the opposition, the anti-islamic Iranians or the Pahlavi opposition
I also think it’s high time that Trump took a page out of Bush (I can’t believe I am saying this) and just like Bush had Hamid Karzai manage a transition before helping him get elected, Trump play a more limited role alongside Israel in supporting the Pahlavi plan. Help completely topple the islamic regime, have the Pahlavi transition team move in, and then let them do the job of writing a new constitution, voting on it, having a referendum on monarchy/republic and finally elections. Essentially, regime change done right

That said, nobody owes Trump blind, unconditional support, and it is legitimate to criticize him if one disagrees w/ his policies. Whether it’s Tucker Carlson who’s against regime change, or someone like a Laura Loomer who’s for it

I don’t blindly support Trump. His personality may be acerbic to many, but he has put the security interests of the U.S. Israel and even much of the world at the forefront over politics. In a historical review his presidency will be seen as strong and unique working against existential threats. Trump’s speech to the UN yesterday should be reviewed by many and often. Gratitude is in order for enduring what he has and attempting to better the U.S. and others.
