A café has just closed in sunny California, and though usually I’m on the side of small businesses, in this case I have to admit that this particular closing cheered me up. An Oakland, Calif., coffee shop that drew national scrutiny for promoting Hamas and forcibly removing Jewish patrons announced it has closed amid three separate antisemitism lawsuits.
Jerusalem Coffee House shuttered last week, citing the legal challenges brought by the Justice Department, Anti-Defamation League and the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law over its alleged harassment of two Jewish customers.
“These lawsuits represent the ongoing efforts of zionist organizations and the federal government to use the courts as a tool to repress free speech and public political commitments to Palestine,” a Substack post from the cafe said. “We’ve faced harassment, property damage, and hate messages since. Despite it all, we’ve continued building the work that matters most to us.”…
What’s that work “that matters most” to the Palestinian café owners? Apparently, it is celebrating Hamas, with a special drink called “Sweet Sinwar,” after the mastermind of the October 7, 2023 atrocities, and also kicking out any Jewish people who would like — how dare they? — to order something at the café.
I look forward, and I hope you do too, to reading about how those lawsuits turn out. Abdulharim Harara has had to close his café, but his real troubles, with the crushing embrace of the long arm — make that arms — of the law, are only just beginning.

Perhaps the next drink might be a crushed Sinwar. The drink that Hamas uses to put an end to its feckless leaders. Reader tractate Sanhedrin to decide whether the drink belongs in Stoning, Burning, Beheading or Strangulation. Which punishment should be associated with a crushed Sinwar. Better a crushed sinwar. I think strangulation … the punishment includes being encases in dung before strangulation. No kaddish for Sinwar.. look at the horrible name… it says it all. Sin and War. Wow,

Like I suggested below, I hope that some Jewish entrepreneur trademarks that name, so that even if he comes out of the lawsuit, he’ll be forced to change the name. Maybe make it al-Quds cafe or something, so that no non-muslim patrons will feel remotely attracted to that place – including maybe non-muslim antisemites
The Jerusalem name is why those Jews were attracted there in the first place

This is fantastic news. What some enterprising Jewish-American (who is more of a Dave Rubin type than a Dan Goldman type) should do is trademark and copyright that name at least, even if he doesn’t open a cafe. That way, no future Balestine supporter would be able to appropriate that name for an antisemitic business
Preferably, make it a chain of Kosher cafes
