This should have been priority #1 from the beginning. Trump goofed by not doing this and stating this. It should have been a Ulysses S. Unless Trump is doing major things behind the scenes to replace the Iranian regime and this is deception stuff (and frankly, I don’t think so), all so far, diplomatically speaking and even militarily speaking, has been an exercise in futility. At the very least, Trump should stop talking as he has because he is quickly, if not already there, coming into self-parody territory.
Is there no one in the Trump Administration to tell Trump to shut up? Are all—Hegseth, Rubio, Vance, et al. utterly clueless about the necessity of completely replacing the Iranian regime rather than in any manner dealing with it? If there is anyone out there more positive than I am at present about Trump’s stance on the ongoing war with Iran, I would welcome hearing from such a person.

The original war objectives may have been limited in nature (ie remove the threat of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons), but whatever they were, they should now be expanded to seek the unconditional surrender of Iran and the complete replacement of the Iranian regime.
To think in the first place that non-Muslims, or even non-Shia Muslims, could enter into good faith negotiations with dogmatic, fanatical Jihadis, was the height of foolishness in the first place.
The Iranian regime will just manipulate any deal, as they did with the inadequate JCPOA.
Trump’s team now needs to consider how best to break Iranian will.
This could be achieved through a number of coordinated actions.
1. Attrit the regime. Continue to reduce Iran’s capability to defend itself and strike back. This requires ongoing compilation of targeting intelligence to strike remnant command, control, communications, Cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR). Iran should be functionally blind by now. Iran’s ability to monitor the regions seas, air or land should be nullified. It should not be able to predict or prevent a strike.
2. Enable resistance. Build up resistance capacity. Hopefully over the last number of months a Iranian resistance network has been able to be extracted to be trained outside Iran and reinserted, or the more risky WW2 SOE option of inserting a US cadre to lead and guide the resistance from within Iran. The resistance will need substantial C4ISR of their own. The localised intelligence reporting and sabotage efforts by the Iranian resistance should support the overall effort to weaken the will of the Iranian regime. The Iranian resistance, if given the means to do so, can conduct localised attacks on Iranian regime targets, transport links, key economic nodes, or targets designed to cause maximum disruption.
3. Economicly hamstring Iran. Iran is vulnerable to economic warfare. Some of this has occurred. But the US should use the threat of the complete destruction of Iran’s economy to force regime surrender. Kharg Island has several dozen crucial targets related to oil storage and export. Destroy one target a day via standoff attack. If after 50 attacks on crucial storage or loading facilities, Iran hasn’t surrendered, continue with the iterative economic destruction of Iran’s economy. The regime won’t care about the impact on the people of Iran. But sooner or later the regime supporters will be unable to feed their families and will lose faith in the regime. The economic destruction of Iran should be substantial and widespread. Any assistance with future reconstruction would be reliant upon unconditional surrender and removal of the regime. Attacks on Iran’s oil production that reduce oil supply should be coordinated with increased production by UAE, Saudi Arabia or elsewhere.
4. Hit and run. No permanent boots on the ground should be considered. But that doesn’t preclude hit and run raids. For example, the islands in the Gulf can be raided; great destruction caused; followed by extraction. No permanent US forces should be left, but the US could consider “gifting” the island to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, or the Gulf State, as compensation for the destruction Iran has caused, and letting them occupy the islands.
5. Improve Gulf Defences. The US should consider cooperative arrangements with Oman and UAE to site Gulf defences on the southern side of the Gulf. Such defences could include early warning, such as radar, and response measures to shoot down incoming Iranian missiles, planes or drones. The US could also help UAE and Oman to develop a counter mining fleet. The US could also consider demanding that no Iranian habitation is permitted within 100km of the Iranian coastline.
Wars are won by the side with more will. The US should start showing it.

In a scenario such as as this. It’s total war for Iran, and it will have zero to lose. Simply put, every single American military base in the region would be annilahted, it would take a few months.
Also , most of the oil facilities would pretty quickly be disposed of by Iran in the region. They have a massive arsenal of ballistic missiles and drones. They only have to deplete what’s left of the Patriot and THAAD (the only thing can defend vs ballistic missile) stockpile. Eventually, you will drop to zero from 770 (now), and pre war was about 2300.
Iran would be destroyed. It would have no effect on the missile and drone cities. Also, no special bombing run would damage these cities. Crossing this line by going to total war, Irgc would be unchained to fire away at anything valuable, without restriction.
Trump doesn’t want that because the likely hood is that destroying Irans energy oil etc, will only make things worse not better. It would be the end of American presence in the Middle East if we don’t win in 3 months. Every base will be open to ballistic attacks, eventually leveled and not usable. We would be pushed out, and have to do long bombing runs, wearing down most of the aircraft, the bombing runs will be smaller and smaller.
The missile cities will simply stand and fire away. No magic bombing run Trump is holding back on will change this. We were not prepared for a war with Iran.
We required 1,000 MOP bunker busters to possibly break these bunkers and their nuclear stuff. There is only a dozen left. And it wasn’t taken seriously to build them.
Safe bet for Patriots is about 7,000 needed to expend in a war with Iran. Possibly even 10,000. We have 770 left, 2300 before war. Also THAAD would be nice to have.
If we had those large bunker busters, Iran would be crippled militarily right now. We don’t have them, we never did. They were ordered very sparingly. Basically, we are stupid. We are saving what few MOP we have remaining. They do work. But you need a lot.
Another factor. The north east Iran, it has missile cities that have not been activated. And we haven’t bothered them. We don’t know why, but there not using them. So we haven’t bombed them. It could be a reserve missile force.

The number of Iranian ballistic missiles is a finite number at any time, albeit a number that can be altered, subject to manufacturing and supply factors.
The precise number of the remaining Iranian inventory is uncertain, but their pre-war holdings were clearly underestimated, something the JPCOA failed to address.
What is also unclear is how quickly the Iranians can replace or replenish expended inventory with either indigenous manufacturered replacements, or via replacement capability provided by Russia, China or someone else. Such questions should be a high priority for the intelligence community. Also the intra-theatre supply chain question is a key priority – the supply chain of each component to manufacturing nodes, and thereon to the dispersed deployment – are all of interest.
Deterrence should be used as a factor by the US. For every Iranian strike, there should be a serious retaliatory strike, including interdiction of internal supply chains. If the point of origin of an Iranian missile or drone is known, all enabling bridges, enabling transport, enabling power sources and communications sources in that vicinity should be targeted.
The use of missiles or drones from Russia, China or elsewhere should result in retaliatory strikes on internal Iran distribution chains. Why haven’t all road links, rail links, inland ports or airfields used by Iran to receive or suspected of being used to receive munitions from other nations, been destroyed already?
And if Iran wants fire away at anything valuable, without restriction, it needs to be aware that it also has valuable, irreplaceable assets, it would not want to be destroyed.
The US should consider offering the Iranian people with a reward for any intelligence provided that will assist in the eradication of the regime, regime capability or regime supply lines.
Just as well the Allies didn’t have pessimists when fighting the German National Socialists or Imperial Japanese during WW2 otherwise the Allies would have just conceded.
Wars are won by the side with the will to win, not just the will to give up.

It is common knowledge Iran is building ballistic missiles right now as we speak. In large number. They have recovered very well and have 80 percent of what they had before the war.
Also. They moved on to solid fuel missiles now due to the lack and complexity of liquid. They are building 100 plus ballistic missiles a month. The stockpiles in the east of the country hidden in the mountains, that has not even been opened yet for conflict. And we haven’t bombed then there. Those missile cities , we don’t know what numbers are there. These missiles have been build for 50 years, and maintained, updated all over.
Drones. You can assume that’s an infinite supply. Same goes for the Houthi barbarian, they have a steady supply of drones coming in via many methods. It’s possible, kind of possible to degrade their abilities, the Houthis. But it would take months. Same concept. Their stuff is hidden in thousands of caves. Smaller caves. They also have bunkers, not as advanced.
The Houthis gave us trouble alone few months ago. Forget Iran.
All this is not worth talking about really. Once the Patriot missiles are gone. The war will end.
America has no answer for the missile cities. They must be taken out for us to call it a win. Or we can play pretend, sign a bad deal they’ll never follow and high tail it out of there.

Destroying their economy is a possibility talked about. But it won’t happen. Iran holds the leverage not us. That plan was going to be used if all of Irans missile cities were destroyed and their capability limited, and if they sat there and refused to give up their nuclear program or open the strait.
That is meaningless now because they have the upper hand even in that case. They can destroy the entire energy system in the Middle East, capable of drawing every single air defense missile (90 percent of Middle East Allies ballistic missile defense is already used up), and obliterate every single American base. There is not a single analyst who takes this seriously that thinks this is going well. Sure Iran lost a bunch of stuff. But only these missile cities matter. That’s their leverage not only over the energy of the world, but over the USA. They are wisely holding back, but giving us small peak previews of the damage they are capable of. Like in Egypt, an American gas facility was attacked. Very easy. Just a matter of an order being given.
Iran will simply destroy world energy supplies if a threshold is crossed they don’t like. The missile cities, we need abori 7 years to reorganize our military seriously to prepare for those missile cities. You need large amounts of deep bunker busters. You have to take them out slowly with B2 bombers. We do not have MOP bombs in sufficient numbers, because our military system is broken.

1. Missile cities
2. Patriot and THAAD missile defense
3. MOP bunker busters.
4. 1/3 of world energy in region

It sounds like a good idea and it is. To enact that plan, you must have knocked out their massive missile cities under ground so when you do wipe them out, their retaliation on the world energy supplies is limited. But that is not how things played out. The missile cities still stand, and Iran still produces ballistic missiles freely.
If you decide to do it anyway, you risk two things. You risk all the oil gas fields and refineries being picked apart, the world economy would collapse. Thing two. American bases and forwarding bases would be rendered uninhabitable after all air defense missiles are used up. They’re already damaged pretty hard but usable, that’s with good air defense. Imagine no air defense.
Trump isn’t a fool. Everybody is afraid including USA. My hope is that the moderates inside Iran can get these IRGC maniacs and talk some sense into them. But the war is going so well for them. (Irgc) and these Islamist maniacs, they want a complete victory. They just now told Trump to shove his deal. No deal. They are daring him to take out their energy and oil. They want an excuse to obliterate the region. They are aware their missile cities are safe. They live there in comfort, and can hold out for years. In these cities, the missiles and drones and trucks expand, they replace them.
Trump so kind of stuck in mud in reality. They’re mocking his threats, and they say we will negotiate and then don’t show up and blow up another ship. Whatever we end up bombing, well it’s not the missile city so the irgc does not care. They don’t care about an air defense site or a radar station. Or whatever else you find. Their main asset is untouchable.
I hope they are not as crazy as they may be to want to actually welcome an attack on Iranian electric and energy infrastructure so it gives them an excuse to take the world economy down, this inanity is in their radical Islamic belief system. Maybe there are some more reasonable people still alive in Irgc. We killed most of them who have something to lose, like corruption.
It leaves more radical people with less to lose. True believers. True believers are dangerous with massive missiles cities at their finger tips.
I also suspect these Irgc radicals sabotaged the last agreement, not Iran, they attacked ships to scuttle the deal and put the pressure on everybody and aim for total victory. They’re holed up all over the country in these missile cities and other bunkers with boats and drones. At any moment a radical can scuttle a deal and hit a ship.

I agree with the comments here. All this negotiation with Islam/Iran will not work. The Iranian regime has to be knocked flat. Trump’s attempts to avoid a loss of human life is noble but is useless with a culture that states it values death as much as Christians value life. They mean what they say when they chant Death to America. Islam only understands force. The demonrats accuse Trump of getting the U.S. into a forever war. That is gaslighting. Iran/Islam wants the war to drag on and on until all is for Allah. Jews, Christians and assorted Infidels cannot allow this to happen. The deal is totally fake . He knows it. The deal will be for public consumption, Iran will continue to pursue their objectives. He will need to accept the Hormuz will never be like it was. That will be in the deal. Irans will control it.
Part of the deal is that Iran doesn’t follow the deal. The most dangerous time of the deal will be the early part! Why? Because this is when we will be weakest. Rebuilding our defensive inventory. They know we can’t touch them. They may acquire nukes right then and there. And we may have to sit by and pretend they’re not doing it.
The deal is gonna be a sham.

Iranians should stop waiting for Trump to do anything. Also, Reza Pahlavi needs to start becoming more active now. For starters, he should move from Maryland to Tel Aviv, and from there, start coordinating w/ Mossad to disable every layer of IRGC leadership, and blow up all police stations in Iran, which are just IRGC torture chambers. Also work on arming Iranian dissidents so that they can achieve victories on the streets against Basij and IRGC, so that ultimately the regime falls

I keep hearing that this is just a tactic, or necessary pause for reupping, but I don’t buy it. I think Trump is delusional and a simpleton. He pauses because he’s insecure and unsure about what to do. The IRGC is playing a clever game by keeping up their offensive, as they must know that increases in violence cause Trump and the Republicans to lose popularity. If the IRGC can keep it up until the midterms and beyond, the and the Democrats take control, they will probably be home free.

I am afraid that the Iranians will make some serious incident, possibly even on US soil to crush republicans one Election Day. You could see multiple attacks, it pull look like the Tet offensive. It would paint Trump as not making America safe. And the war will keep simmering, gas prices high, and our oil emptying out.
Democrats will get in, and end the attacks on Iran. I didn’t say it would end the war. Iran could keep attacking, while we tie Trumps hands to react with the courts and the votes in the Congress. The democrats will surrender everything to Iran de facto by taking the war powers away.
