Jason Arday’s tissue — a whole Kleenex box — of lies has now been exposed. He plagiarized his Ph.D. thesis. He claimed to have published books that never existed. He claimed to have taught at four universities in the UK and South Africa where he never set foot. His CV became the object of much mockery in the UK, as did the faculty members at Cambridge University who had chosen him to be a professor.
Arday has now resigned from Cambridge after falsely claiming to have published a book. And there were many more lies in his fantastical CV that have now been revealed to the world. More on the events surrounding his resignation can be found here: “Jason Arday resigns after Telegraph reveals his false book claims,” by Albert Tait, Telegraph,
Prof Jason Arday has resigned from the University of Cambridge after The Telegraph revealed he falsely claimed to have published a book.
In a statement on Wednesday evening, Prof Arday said he was stepping down “with immediate effect” from his position at the university and at Jesus College citing the “unrelenting level of public scrutiny”.
It came hours after the university announced it was investigating him following new information regarding his “academic qualifications and honorary appointments”.
Prof Arday, who was a professor of sociology of education, has been at the centre of a plagiarism row after The Telegraph reported accusations he had copied parts of his PhD thesis from another student.
Earlier on Wednesday, The Telegraph also revealed that Prof Arday had repeatedly claimed that he was the author of a book called Being Young, Black and Male: Challenging the Dominant Discourse.
The book was listed in his biography description in published essays as well as in promotional material for speaking events, and was attributed to the Palgrave Macmillan publishing house.
There is no evidence that any book was written or published.
The revelation raised questions over Prof Arday’s employment at the University of Cambridge. To apply for a professorship at Cambridge, applicants need to submit an extensive portfolio of work, which includes a complete bibliography of essays, journals and book chapters….
In 2019, Prof Arday published Cool Britannia and Multi-Ethnic Britain: Uncorking the Champagne Supernova, which examined 1990s British culture through the lens of ethnic minority experiences.
In the first few pages of the book, a section called “about the author” states that Prof Arday is “the author of the following titles”, before listing Being Young, Black and Male: Challenging the Dominant Discourse (Palgrave)….
He told LBC: “[The university] had already done, I think, two investigations and found there was no problem here or that the allegations were unfounded. And so [the letter] was about essentially saying that people of colour, particularly in society, can sometimes be held by higher standards.”
Ah yes. Of course. ”Racism,” Jason Arday suggests, explains the investigation of his many claims that he is now facing. Most observers would claim that the opposite is true: Non-whites in academia are often held to lower standards. Think only of the serial plagiarist Pauline Gay, who became president of Harvard despite her thin scholarship. Or of Cornel West, with his hip hop cd, his many canceled classes, his grade inflation that was prompted by the desire to get good reviews from his students on “Rate My Professors.”
Jason Arday is now unemployed and unemployable. A fitting end to this mythomane’s spectacular rise and even more spectacular fall.
The Left is the problem says
Surely Jason Arday is the perfect candidate to be preselected for the Left Wing UK Labour Party.

Truly a good person, did not do these things for a resume. We waited, and we were denied from all of the top schools. Mind you, we had to shell out a lot of money just to apply. We could not help but feel there was a bias against our rural background. I have not been able to recover from these rejections personally, and I sometimes think maybe we did something wrong. She was sure she would be accepted at a top notch school, this was the type of student that really was built for a challenging academic school. She ended up going to an average school, but it did something to her. She ain’t the same. Not the same.
The people running these schools do not want conservatives unless you are a Trump or a Bush, an oil company kid. Our kids can’t go there anymore. How do these Muslims do it, a lot of these phony black students like this guy. It’s simply bias and it’s a political agenda to further push the school to the left. The more radical you are, the more they want you. The students there are shockingly stupid and ignorant my girl says. That is why she felt so comfortable in believing she’d be accepted.
Other parents who are goign to apply their kids to a great school. You should work on covering up certain things such as Churches, and certain groups your child participated in such as the fishing club. Things like this. I would advise your children to pretend they’re leftists and talk about how they’re rebels against their conservative parents. Otherwise don’t waste your money, unless you are really a somebody. Your odds are slimmer than you think.

Well the usual stuff.
The left will start crying and pulling the victimhood cards.
That’s just BAU.
Defund the NGO’s and Universities who support this scam.

Reminds me of the fraud who became superintendent of des Moines schools. He’s black therefore no need to do a thorough background check because they never lie and, frankly, it would be racist. White liberals are such suckers

Good to hear!
Of course he is whining–as though it is fine for White people to claim fake credentials. Just risible.

One thing no one is talking about is that the left chose this guy as a top dog among blacks. That is quite the insult.
gravenimage says
Yes–this is an insult to Blacks who *genuinely* are achievers.
Phil Copson says
Ex-acker-ly. To a white liberal – one black person is pretty much the same as another.
(Of course, if a REAL black academic had applied for the job – a Walter Williams or a Thomas Sowell – they wouldn’t have stood an earthly: Because if there’s one thing that a white liberal woman hates more than a white working-class man – it’s a black conservative.)
tgusa says
This also brings in to question every black that has been elevated to a position of power or influence by the left. The left really are that dumb.
tgusa says
This also brings in to question the credibility of their white leftist enablers as well. They dropped a bomb on themselves.
DiMatteo says
The white people put up Lori lightweight and Brandon Johnson in Chicago. And they’ll put a worse one next time. This loser would be perfect.
They could even pick a Muslim like that Ilam Omar from Minneapolis. Under Ilam Omar they stole billions. Maybe that’s the next step of suicide for the white voters here.

Unemployable ? I think you’re being too optimistic, here. Don’t underestimate the capaity of people like Arday to bounce back and don’t underestimate the capacity of loony leftists to do all they can to support him !

Grimly, you are probably correct…

This is what happens when people are afraid to question someones qualifications just because of their ethnicity. If there is solid proof qualifications are fake, there should be no backlash for presenting the proof.

arday seem to have a problem telling any truth. Ya might think he’s a moslem politician.
Phil Copson says
Cambridge Uni must have been in on the whole scam. They must know who their opposite numbers are at other universities, and if Arday had rocked-up for an interview claiming to be – or to have been – the Sociology Professor at Glasgow and other establishments, the obvious answers would have been “No – you’re not. It’s Matt Dawson” or at the very least – “You must know such-and-such.” etc.
You wouldn’t land a job like that on the strength of one interview – yet we are asked to believe that not a single person noticed that he was busking it? Or that when he claimed to have written various papers, the assembled board didn’t look at each other and say “Sorry – I’ve never heard of it? Anyone?” or when told that he was a published author, they didn’t say “Excellent! Did you bring a copy?”
This whole thing stinks – was he ever actually interviewed at all?
Cambridge – like any employer – had a clear duty to the university / his colleagues / his students / and to the other applicants – to have checked-out his references before offering him the post. The fact that they didn’t – leads any sensible person to conclude that they knew perfectly well that Arday was a fraud.
