With Iran’s economy in crisis due to the war with the U.S., Iran’s membership in BRICS is a reprieve for the regime, and a blow to America:
Ehsan Khandouzi, Iran’s Finance and Economic Affairs Minister, expressed hope for global engagement and for increased trade opportunities with BRICS countries, despite US sanctions.
The China-led BRICS aims to increase trade using national currencies, which aligns with Iran’s goal to bypass the U.S. dollar in energy markets. BRICS also seeks to lessen the impact of U.S. sanctions. Iran attained full membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in July 2022, when the Biden administration was in power and the world realigned against America.
Now Iran is mocking Trump:

Trump has warmed BRICS nations against creating a unified alternative currency, using tariff threats. The heat will turn up.
“Iran to become member of BRICS Bank, increasing economic cooperation, trade – report,” by Esther Davis, Jerusalem Post, August 12, 2026:
Iran is going to become a member of the BRICS Bank, Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Abdolnaser Hemmati said, state media reported on Tuesday evening.
BRICS is an organization made up of eleven countries: Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. It is an economic and geopolitical bloc that focuses on trade and development.
The New Development Bank (BRICS Bank) is a “multilateral development bank established by BRICS with the purpose of mobilizing resources for infrastructure and sustainable development projects in emerging markets and developing countries,” its website explains….

This must be a recipe for destruction of the present order and they are preparing for WWIII. Little do they know that the Islamic states by any name want civilizational war with the West. Interestingly, the West is at its weakest right now. May be US is much better placed to see through all the evil designs of Iran and its ilk.

Trump’s tariff threats are empty: China took the 100+% tariffs that Trump imposed, and kept doing its own thing. Tariffs can work on India, though. Not sure about Brazil or South Africa
But I doubt that either Russia or Iran will remain a part of Beijing’s orbit much longer. In Moscow, people have started openly demonstrating against Vladimir Putin, and some are even mocking him, alleging that he’s fled to Siberia to escape – was last seen at Novosibirsk. Ukraine has been hitting targets deep into Siberia, and has even been penetrating Moscow’s 3-layered air defense. Earlier today, I was watching a Ukrainian commentator observe how the myth of Russia being a superpower has been comprehensively destroyed by Ukraine, since Russia can’t defend anything, and that the strategic depth that served them so well during Napoleon’s & Hitler’s invasions no longer seem to work. On top of those demonstrations, Moscow’s mayor, who’s thought to be a potential successor to Putin, has openly opposed his calls for militarizing the economy. It’s now much harder for Putin to maintain control, and it’s not clear that even the military or FSB can grab all the spoils. In fact, if Ukraine wanted, they could conceivably control all of Russia, rather than the other way around
Similarly, in Iran, even assuming that we do nothing and the Israelis do nothing, the islamic regime now has 2 internal enemies. One is 80% of the Iranian people, who have now opposed them for years but gotten crushed every time. But the other 20% too are now turning on them, now that the islamic regime can no longer subsidize gas, and has seen it go up from 10k to 87k Rials. The one reason the regime has been making belligerent statements at the negotiations and attacking Arab countries has been to shore up its support w/ that 20% of its supporters, but now, it no longer has even that! Now all sorts of conspiracy theories are ruling their airwaves – not the usual anti-Zionist ones, but ones accusing Pezeshkian – their president – of being a Zionist. Since he’s friends w/ Azerbaijan’s president Aliyev, who in turn is an ally of Israel. On top of that, Hashd ash-Shabi too is getting attacked & destroyed by the Iraqi and US troops, so they too are no longer able to supply reinforcements to the islamic regime. Also in Balochistan-Sistan, the Fakiroun – the Afghan shi’a militias serving the islamic regime – have seen a lot of their commanders getting assassinated. It’s not certain whether that’s by Balochi separatists or Iranian resistance fighters or MEK agents
In fact, for 2 major oil exporting countries, both Russia and Iran now have problems providing fuel for even their own people. In Russia’s case, Ukraine has severely damaged, if not destroyed, their top 10 oil refineries, and is busy bombing their Wildberry Warehouses (the Russian version of Amazon). While in Iran, inflation is at historic highs. The idea of either Iran or even Russia, under their current regimes, being a major contributor in any geopolitical alliance, is a joke. Maybe after Pahlavi in Iran and someone sane in Russia takes over, but certainly not the way it is today
