The political necessity for doing something doesn’t make it more doable, sometimes it makes it impossible. Iran isn’t going to make an actual deal. And while deals are impossible with terrorists anyway, Iran’s Islamic regime is going to drag this out as long as possible to help the Dems. That’s not breaking new ground. The regime did this early on during the hostage crisis to hurt the Carter administration towards which, despite Carter’s sympathy for Islamic terrorists, it harbored a special resentment.
So any time a deal appears close, it’ll blow it up.
Iran’s politburo-like body known as the Supreme National Security Council said the Strait of Hormuz will not open until the United States “corrects its behavior,” issuing new demands that could shake up talks on a deal to manage the waterway.
Iran’s state broadcaster published the statement by the council’s secretary, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, who is also a commander in the powerful Revolutionary Guard.
The United States must never threaten Iran again, the statement said, and must permanently end the war with Iran and its armed allies in the region. The U.S. must lift the naval blockade of Iranian ports and withdraw its military from the area. It must “completely compensate” Iran for war damage, lift sanctions and “unconditionally” release frozen assets.
So no, this isn’t happening.
If the Dems were patriotic, they would get on the same page and make it clear that our enemies can’t play us against each other, instead they’re using the crisis with Iran to score political points which amounts to coordinating with our enemies.

For sure Iran would love a democratic victory. They could paralyze the military if USA and Iran would de facto take control of everything. Iran could also do small scale strikes on us troops to push them out. The democrats would not let Trump retaliate.
But democrats need to win both chambers to stop Trump from fighting with Iran. Also other reasons as well, Iran has re stocked its missile arsenal and would like to escalate the conflict to finish off the patriot stockpile. This would give them a second path in pushing us out of the region and gaining control of the water ways.
We still have about 800 patriots left, so Iran must commit to months of more war, possibly up until the election where they will strike our troops massively, trying to inflict casualties to sway the American public’s vote to their Islamist and communist allies in America.
I don’t think this negotiation will amount to anything. It’s just posturing. Iran has no reason to negotiate unless it’s getting something massive. Even if you get a deal, every person on this forum knows Iran will never stick to agreements. I know some of you democrats don’t like it, but Iran is a terror regime. A dictatorship, and no its citizens are not happy like the woke right and radical left claim.

Lockheed-Martin’s current production rate is about 600 per year, with contracts in place to step up production to 2000 per year by 2030. The U.S. cannot further deplete its current inventory on Iran because that would leave us defenseless if China should attack Taiwan or Russia starts unexpected trouble elsewhere in Europe.
The U.S. should consider buying David’s Sling, Iron Dome and Iron Beam systems from Israel as a stopgap measure so the war against Iran may continue.
I believe that anything less than regime change falls short of objectives and merely kicks the can down the street for the next administration to deal with. We cannot sit and wait while our production comes up to speed to meet demand.

The islamic republic is, at this point, no longer thinking about the Democrats or anyone else: they can’t even think about their proxies, like Hizbullah or Ansar allah or Hashd ash-Shaʿbī. At this point, they have only one goal: to keep their remaining supporters among the populace motivated enough to continue backing them. Then they can arm them from the IRGC/Basij, and use them to prevent an uprising for as long as possible
One thing to understand about the Iranians: over 47 years, and definitely over the last decade, something like 80% of the population now opposes the regime. So the 20% who still support it are the “Derkas” – the people who actually believe the propaganda about US being the great Satan and Israel being the little Satan. If one believes that, then one would indeed oppose any compromises or negotiations w/ them, and instead demand a fight to the end. If the IRGC or others agree to that, that’ll pretty much be the end of even that support as well. In fact, Ghalibaf, Araghchi and Pezeshkian are all hated even among this 20%
So while we all have our varying criticisms of Trump for his prevaricating on the war, and don’t know what the military stockpile situation is, what I have been doing is following the reactions in Iran. The 80% of the population can’t wait for this regime to be overthrown. Within the 20% of the supporters, though, there is now increasing infighting. Every day, Ali Samani – Armin’s partner here – posts “Aligrams”, or Telegram messages of regime supporters, and translates them. A lot of them are at each other’s throats, and busy bashing Ghalibaf, or endorsing Trump’s claims about the war that seem nonsensical to us. In short, they are increasingly divided
That is the biggest crisis of the islamic regime right now. Not so much the war, or the economic breakdown or the plight of the proxies or anything else. It’s that their own supporters are at each other’s throats and calling for things like the assassination of Ghalibaf (not talking about regime opponents now, mind you). This is why the islamic regime cannot make a deal: if they do, they’ll get a revolt from both their supporters as well as their opposition

The leaders of Iran are playing the American political system. They know that if they can hang on until mid-terms and the Democrats gain back the House of Representative they will WIN.

How could he do that besides nuking them, which would lead to WW3? I used to like Trump because he said he would not engage in any of these bullshit wars, but here we are. He must be feeling pretty bad he got sucked into this by Israel, now he has no recourse. Th Pentagon told him not to do it.

The US should finish Iran at the very beginning. The longer the war, the weaker the US because the US must fight from distance. There is no point to negotiate with Iran, as Iran, just like Palestine or other muslim groups, will break the truce whenever they have the chance. Iran should surrender completely just like Japan or Germany in World War II (It is two, not eleven :D)
