There is no compassion, much less forgiveness, in Islam. Muslims are to be “ruthless” to the unbeliever and merciful to one another (48:29), but when a Muslim transgresses against a Sharia provision, that mercy is seldom, if ever, in evidence. The fear that ensures obedience must be kept alive.

Four people were whipped a hundred times each for adultery under Sharia law in Indonesia, in a caning so severe even the flogger was seen offering support to one woman.
The four were among 11 people publicly punished at Bustanul Salatin Park in Banda Aceh, the capital of Indonesia’s deeply conservative Aceh province, on Thursday.
They had been found guilty of zina, or illicit sexual intercourse, under the province’s Qanun Jinayat Islamic criminal code and were each sentenced to one hundred lashes.
Some in the crowd, which included children, shouted ‘harder’ as the cane came down repeatedly.
Pictures from the brutal punishment show one woman enduring the repeated blows as she knelt on a platform in front of officials.
At one point, the algojo, the name given to the person who carries out canings, leant towards the woman and appeared to offer her words of support.
Other images showed the woman crying as she was comforted by an official and offered water following the punishment.
Further footage shows a male convict grimacing in pain as the cane struck his back.
A total of 11 people convicted of violating Aceh’s Islamic criminal code underwent caning at the park on Thursday, including the four sentenced to one hundred lashes for adultery.
Four other people received 22 lashes each at Thursday’s flogging for the lesser crime of ‘physical intimacy’, which can mean hugging and kissing….

Public funding is a privilege that should not be granted to organizations that are against the US Constitution. Islam is against the US Constitution for Muslim funding, teaching, and promoting discrimination, hatred, segregation, violence, and terrorism. Allah in Qur’an 4:74 says, “So let those who purchase the world’s life for the hereafter engage in war for the sake of Allah. And whoever engages in war for the sake of Allah, whether he is killed or victorious, so we will give him a great wage.”

Actually, if true to typical fundamentalist thought, they don’t care about about any country and are an outlier in Indonesia, likely only allowed to have their portion of Indonesia out of fear of war. It’s Aceh’s rules. Fundamentalists ruin life for everyone, including other Muslims.
Aceh is a semi-autonomous province on the upper end of Indonesia. We would expect that word “semi” represents much tension with the rest of Indonesia, the better place where they don’t cane people.

Deuteronomy 25:3 in the Bible specifies that a judge may have a guilty person beaten with a number of lashes matching their crime, “but the judge must not impose more than forty lashes” so that the person is not degraded or humiliated. To ensure they never accidentally broke this commandment by miscounting, later Jewish traditional law capped the physical punishment at 39 lashes (often referred to as “forty lashes minus one”). The Apostle Paul mentions receiving this exact reduced punishment in 2 Corinthians 11:24, where he states that he received “the forty lashes minus one.”
Apparently, the muzzies don’t care if they beat the person to death or cause permanent physical damage in meting out the punishment.

This is totally uncommon in most of Indonesia. It is a radical Islamic enclave. And this is mostly ceremonial to humiliate the subjects, not painful from what I have seen.
There is an old YouTube video about this radical enclave, I don’t recall the name of the place. But it was heavily influenced by a prominent Islamist scholar from India, Bakir Naik. Bakir was banned in many countries, possibly India being one.
