You might be forgiven for thinking that London on August 9 had suddenly become Tehran. In the center of that city, 35,000 people staged a mass march in which a Shiite religious rally commemorating the death of Imam Hussein was simultaneously a rally, as well, in support of the current Iranian regime. Open displays of support for the Islamic Regime in Iran were seen throughout Sunday’s Arbaeen Procession in London.
The Arbaeen Procession is an annual public march held to commemorate Imam Hussain ibn Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, who was martyred in Karbala, Iraq, in 680 CE.
Arbaeen marks the 40th day after his martyrdom and is designed to remember his alleged stand against oppression and injustice. For those who cannot get to Iraq for the Karbala procession, there are many similar marches around the world.
An estimated 35,000 people attended Sunday’s Marble Arch procession, organized by Hussaini Islamic Trust UK. According to the trust, this was the largest-ever gathering in the 46 years the event has been run in the UK.
While the entire purpose of the march is to remember and commemorate Hussain’s stand against injustice and oppression, Sunday’s event saw significant support for Islamic Regime figures….
In marching in support of the Iranian ayatollahs, the marchers were also expressing their support for the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), the paramilitary group that is subordinate to the ayatollahs. On July 17, the British government designated the IRGC a proscribed terrorist organization. Why then, one wonders, did the British government not prevent that march or close it down once it had begun? Were the British authorities afraid of enforcing the law now that there are more than 1.32 million Muslims in London? Will any heads roll in the government as a result of this fiasco?

I state again that the Persian people are largely a people of sheep—or worse. And the worse are still in charge and why Trump erred from the get-go respecting two matters: 1) not indicating that the present war was first and foremost engaged in to have regime change; and 2) holding back Israel.

Agreed. The only possible solution was Regime Change where the new occupiers would be the Iranian people themselves. I would add a third error – waiting until after the rebelling citizens were murdered by the Regime. “Hold on, we’ll be there in a month”, is a reaction, not a plan.

I also agree with both of you about how President Trump has erred. I think that the reason he has done so is because he, I think, does not understand Islamic doctrine, and because he, I think, is being ill-advised by wrong people.
However, I do not think that most Iranians are sheep. As Rabbi Pesach Wolicki expressed in a video that I linked to in a comment that I posted on another article on Jihad Watch, most Iranians are well-educated, industrious, secular, and pro-Western. Regarding that, Rabbi Pesach Wolicki said that two thirds of mosques in Iran have shut down because of lack of attendance to them. I think that most Iranians want a free, secular, democratic, Iran. As Rabbi Pesach Wolicki expressed, such an Iran would be a powerful ally of the West and a strong oppositional force to Islamic Jihad.
President Trump needs to be advised by experts on Islam, such as Robert Spencer and others, who oppose Islamic Sharia and Islamic Jihad, and who understand Taqiyya.

Daniel Bielak: We keep hearing endlessly that most Iranians are secular and pro-Western, have abandoned Islam en masse, etc. Yet we see, over and over, footage of demonstrations supporting the Mullahcracy where the participants number in the tens of thousands. Can the Mullahs/IRGC possibly force that many Iranians to attend large scale curated demonstrations, those attending showing what seems to be genuine zeal and enthusiasm – chanting and shouting in unison, clearly voicing unforced support for the regime? Let us not forget, as well, that the Shah was deposed because of overwhelming public dissatisfaction, Khomeini being welcomed back to Iran to launch a new goverment based not on Western but on Islamic principles. Doubtless there are Iranians who want to see an end to their present government, but are they really in the majority? I have my doubts.

The population of Iran is over 90 million. The tens of thousands of pro-Islamic-regime demonstrators that you mentioned constitute a tiny fraction of the population of Iran. According to accounts of Iranians who have fled Iran, and according to polls of Iranians in Iran, 80 percent of Iranians consider themselves secular and oppose the Islamic regime of Iran. The Islamic regime in Iran has all the weapons. So the people of Iran are powerless, by themselves, to overthrow the Islamic regime. When many Iranians did courageously engage in huge protest demonstrations against the Islamic regime, the Islamic regime killed over 30,000 of those protesters.

Daniel is correct. We see the demonstrations that are greenlighted by IRIB – the islamic republic’s propaganda channels. But the viral videos that make it out of there to shows like Tousi TV, Armin Navabi & Ali Samani’s channels and Goldie Ghamari’s “Iran Revolution” shows – they show a completely different story. As I mentioned elsewhere, a few days ago, on Tousi TV, they showed random Iranians in differnet parts of the country burning qur’ans, and one even urinating on them
Don’t just believe the MSM videos. There’s plenty coming out of Iran itself, that paints a completely different picture

I have seen analysis by the 2 Iranians whose show I more usually watch make the point that w/ the sudden end of oil subsidies by the islamic regime to its people, coupled w/ the complete shutdown of Kharg Island, the IRGC now desperately wants to resume the war
Fighting foreign enemies is the easy part, even if they are heavily eroded in terms of arms. They can still get a percentage of the population to rally around the flag & turn the focus away from the things that are making not just the usual regime opponents continue to hate them, but also their supporters turn on them
Their analysis is that currently, only something like 5-20% of Iranians support the regime. However, in the absense of war, when things like inflation, fuel shortages, etc hit, they turn on the leaders. Also, the regime supporters are no longer united: a section of them are w/ the IRGC & opposed to negotiations, given that they’ve bought the propaganda of the regime that has the US & Israel as the Great & Little Satans. While the other section supports the negotiations and wants Iran to focus on recovering at home before re-launching adventures abroad. In that, their only difference from the Pahlavi supporters is that while the latter wants to end Iran’s hostilities w/ Israel, US and most other countries, this group of regime supporters wants a “Treaty of Hudaybiyya” style ceasefire
Another amusing thing I heard on their show: there was an attendence at the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad, the only shrine of the 12 shi’a imams that’s located in Iran and not Iraq. There, when some of the “pilgrims” there tried to shout “Death to America” and “Death to Trump”, they were hushed by the regime security personnel, who now want to do everything to avoid antagonizing the US. It’s near that shrine that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is buried, and these demonstrators were steamed that they weren’t allowed to abuse the country that killed him (granted, it was the Israelis who did, but anyway)
Previously, I actively rooted for the war to resume. But seeing now how the IRGC wants it as well so that it can deflect Iranian public attention from the failures of the regime, I’m actually fine w/ the status quo. I just hope that infighting b/w the regime supporters escalates, so that the rest of the Iranian people too can rise and overthrow that regime. At which point, the Iranian transition team should be in a position to take over

The Shi’a branch was generated because women can’t hold male authority, being inferior in Islam? So they put forward the son-in-law to succeed Muhammad, who was also a cousin of Muhammad. This questionable choice led to the assassination of Ali, a companion of Muhammad.
This serms rather strange since the daughter was the direct offspring of Muhammad and Ali, the companion of Muhammad, only married into the family. Allah made no communication to Ali and followers to cement Ali’s position as Caliph. That makes Ali a no-blood-line and his son, Hasan ibn Ali, only a half-blood line through the wife who can’t hold that authority – a contradiction. Ali, the companion of Muhammad, simply was no descendent of Muhammad.
Muhammad and Allah(one & the same?) were at fault here for not directing the means of succession which caused war. An all knowing, all seeing, being would know the future.
It looks like the Sunnis have the best claim, a “democratic?” choice for Caliph yet no Allah-directed means of succession makes all of Islam appear questionable.

There is hardly a good reason for preferring sunnis over shi’a. After all, we have a global problem w/ muslims worldwide, and the shi’a are statistically just 2% of them, if we remove the Iranians who no longer consider themselves muslim of any sect. The bulk of European rapists, or people engaging in jihad activities in Nigeria, the Indian subcontinent, Syria, muslim brotherhood, et al are sunnis. The question of who was Muhammad’s legitimate successor is tangential to this issue
After all, Ali was Muhammad’s son-in-law, but Abu Baqr and Umar were his fathers-in-law, while Uthman, the third caliph who preceded Ali, was also Muhammad’s son-in-law w/ 2 of his daughters. So even if one thinks that it’s only Muhammad’s sons-in-law who were his legitimate successors, it would seem that even by that yardstick, Uthman would still have had as legitimate a claim as Ali’s
But honestly, we shouldn’t care who that was: it’s completely irrelevant to our opposition to islam
