Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand’s call to boycott all “commercial activities linked to Israeli settlements” emerges from a country that has been dubbed a global leader of antisemitism. The Canadian government backs Anand’s call in its official threatening statement HERE.
The Canadian government crackdown on Israel, with a dire warning to Canadian businesses, demonstrates its increasing hostility toward Israel. The Canadian government justifies its position by aligning with the longstanding UN bias against Israel, which the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) drives. Western leftist-governed nations of the red-green alliance actively support and uphold this so-called “international law” perspective .
This is where previous Liberal foreign affairs minister, Melanie Joly, stood on Israel vis-à-vis the Palestinian cause:

According to Genesis 15:18, eons before the beginnings of Islam, God promised Abraham and his descendants the territory “from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates.” This boundary includes parts of modern-day Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq. Even if one does not accept any idea of Jews having a God-given right to the land, this text is testimony to their presence there going back to ancient times. Today, what Israel claims is much less. But Islam has claimed the entire region, including Israel, on the basis of Islamic theology, which virtually the entire world ignores.

It’s just an advisory, it’s not a law. Canada is of course far from alone in taking this “dim view” of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, but I rather doubt that any country anywhere is impressed by quotes from the Bible about the proprietorship of that piece of property. They just take the shortest possible historical view that, because Israel took the West Bank in war in 1967 and has occupied it ever since, it must somehow belong to someone else. The Palestinians, perhaps? In 1947 when the U.N. attempted to allocate the West Bank (and much else of the region) to that people and the Jews who were about to become the Israelis recognized and accepted that decision, the Palestinians said to hell with it and used bloodletting to stop it from happening. Which would be why the West Bank had been occupied by Jordan for 19 years when the Israelis were forced at the point of a gun to assume control over it. They would not be in control of it otherwise.
Time was, though, when the Palestinians could have had the West Bank for absolutely nothing and they didn’t want it. Jordan’s occupation of it was not recognized by any Arab country, and it changed hands when it had to – in defensive war. There is no collective ownership of the West Bank today, and the Israelis are in violation of nothing when they build on it – as long as they are not actually stealing owned property, and that has been outlawed by the Israeli Supreme Court with more than one decision.

I am a Hindu, so Biblical citations are the least persuasive argument w/ me, so obviously, I avoid using them at all when arguing for Israel. Like Robert Spencer, I support Israel b’cos of international law & historical conventions
1. Jews, or Hebrews, are the original inhabitants of that land. The only people who preceded them were the Canaanites, but the “Palestinians” are not their descendants: they are Arabs. The Samaritans are indigenous too, and they have full rights in Israel. If one supports people on the basis that they were the original inhabitants (or close to it), as I do, then the Hebrews/Jews are the people who should have Israel
2. If one accepts the “might is right” principle and supports, say, Chinese occupation of Tibet, Turkish & Arab occupation of Kurdistan and so on, then Israel too rightfully owns everything it owns as a result of war. Putin is one of the leading critics of Israel: well, let’s see him return Kaliningrad to Germany, and let it become Königsburg once again. Although here, I will concede that I have double standards: I support Israel’s annexation of Golan, and would support them annexing Judea, Samaria, Gaza, South Lebanon and even if it one day came to that, Sinai. But otoh, I do support Tibet and Kurdistan (not out of Iran, though)
3. If one goes by history, what exactly is the basis of supporting “Palestine”? Historically, that area was under the control/rule of the Hebrews, the Macedonians, the Romans, the Byzantines, the Arabs, the Crusaders, the Ottomans, the Brits and finally Israel. If one supports the deletion of Israel, which currently claims its historical legitimacy as the original homeland of the Jews, then on what basis does one support the Arab or Ottoman precedent over, say, the Greek or Roman rule over those lands? Either the earliest precedent (the Hebrews) or the latest (Israel) would make sense, but not any random regime in b/w
4. If one goes by ground realities, Israel is the nation in control of all those territories. Just like one can’t pretend that Tibet is an independent country or that Crimea is under Ukrainian control, one can’t pretend that “Palestine” is the entire area b/w the “river and the sea”. In Ukraine’s case, they’ve turned the war around this year, forced the Black Sea Fleet out of Sevastopol and are in a good position to slowly recover all of their lost territory, and maybe more. Once Ukraine gets it all back, it’ll be theirs once again, and maps showing Crimea as a part of Russia will no longer be valid. Heck, they could even capture Rostov and Belgorod, if they wanted, as compensation
5, If one claims that the Jews are not the original inhabitants of the land b’cos they came from Ur, which is now in Iraq, then will Iraq cede that territory to Israel? I doubt it: it’s pretty much all that’s left of shi’a islam, since Iran has pretty much apostatized (its floundering regime notwithstanding), and neither Azerbaijan nor Bahrein is in particular a home of shi’a islam: it’s Southern Iraq. So will Ali Zaidi hand over Ur and its surroundings to the Jews?
6. In the other cases, like Kurdistan or Tibet, if they got their independence, they would not be a threat to Iran or the rest of Iraq, Syria or Turkey. That’s not the case w/ Israel, as Gaza showed. In fact, even w/ Sinai, Egypt has remilitarized the peninsula, ostensibly in the name of combating ISIS, but if a future Egyptian regime resumes Nasserite policies of war w/ Israel, despite the Camp David agreement requiring that the Sinai be demilitarized and a de-facto buffer b/w Israel and Egypt, Israel would be completely justified in reconquering Sinai
Once Israel is established as the land of the Hebrews, they have every right to have whatever naturalization or citizenship laws they want. They decided to be a melting pot of Jews of all ethnicities, not just Hebrews, and that’s their right. Just like Arab countries have the rights to naturalize only Arabs, and so on
So yeah, while Christian and Jewish supporters of Israel may cite the Bible, the above 4 arguments are the strongest arguments one can make to justify not just its existence but also its presence of Israel in Judea, Samaria, Gaza and Golan

You make some good logical points there infidel. But maybe too logical. It isn’t about reasoning at all, it is just about supporting the expansion of the Islamic world. The citizens of the west such as Canada, Australia, Europe etc aren’t interested in your logic because it is heavily working against Islamic expansion.
They want Islamic expansion over Israel, and also places like Nigeria as well. If Islam has ever had a presence in an area, the view of the average western citizen is it belongs to Islam and all arguments are void. The holy land is Islamic for the average European, and they don’t like Israel because it won’t bow to Islam, it fights tooth and nail.
Infidel, I must of missed the sanctions on the Islamic expansion states such as in Nigeria, Congo, Iran, etc. If islam is winning, they have no issue with anything. Only Israel holds the line, and that is a problem for the western citizenry. They want Islam to take Israel, and then they’ll be no sanctions.

Canada has its problems now that it failed to reach a settlement with the Trump Administration concerning its goods imported into the US. The US imposed a 50% tariff as a result.
If I were Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand, I would be extremely concerned about the 50% tariff that the US just slapped on Canadian goods, considering that almost 3/4 of Canadian exports are to the US. I would be unconcerned about the false narrative concerning Israel’s settlements in Judea and Samaria that doesn’t even concern Canada.
The National Council of Canadian Muslims seems to be driving Canada’s actions. This group is steerign Canada in the wrong direction

Carney says he’ll stop exports of Nickel ore if the US tariffs remain. Recently the Congress has considered withdrawing the nickel coin. Canada’s nickel imports could be avoided for years by calling in the nickel coin, which since 1946 has been 25% nickel. Easily there are more than 500 billion nickels which can be recovered, about 3.58 billion pounds of nickel, current value, $27.6 Billion.
It costs much less to separate the nickel metal from a nickel than to mine and process ore. The world is getting low on Nickel deposits so the nickel coin is also a US strategic reserve.
We can easily live without Canadian nickel.

Not just that. Like islamic countries, Canada is guilty of projection when it comes to Israel. It’s they who live on “stolen land” (something for which they grovel until they burrow, and make white guilt the central attribute of their population). Jews otoh are native to Judea and Samaria, which was more central to Jewish civilization than even Negev or Galilee.
Yeah, they may cede territories like Nunavat to those “indigenous peoples”, but then, why not go all the way and invite them to secede and form their own new country, capital & all, and become an independent member of the world community, like countries such as Moldova and Kosovo?

Well because North American Indians built using wood (which disintegrated over time and became part of the soil) and they left no written historical record we only have their word that they were always the “indigenous peoples” of the land. I have to assume that North American Indians up there were no different than North American Indians down here. One tribe took the land from another tribe (through violence) who took the land from another tribe and on and on throughout time. We may just be getting the word from the most recent and surviving land thieves. I believe that without an archeologist we can never know the truth and even with archeologists some things can never be determined.

It would be interesting to conduct a genealogy screening of all paleostinians. The result would very likely be that none of them are indigenous to that land. The result would be that they all came from other islamic places and none of those islamic places want them back. Why should Israelis have to keep them? They shouldn’t.
