It is always interesting, and sometimes surprising, to find out which celebrities declare their support for the embattled Jewish state, and which ones instead malign it. Just now, the musician Boy George has stood up publicly for Israel with a song, “We Will Dance Again,” a reference to the Nova Music Festival that was attacked on October 7, 2023. As a consequence of his song, he’s had to withdraw from a gig acting as Herod in a London production of “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Not, you understand, because the people putting on the show were trying to punish him, but because his agent feared that if Boy George appeared on stage now, the monstrous regiment of Israel-haters in the audience would cause a ruckus, with catcalls and boos and threats to beat him up. To avoid that disruption, Boy George agreed to make way for another actor to take over the role of Herod. Boy George has pulled out of the “Jesus Christ Superstar” production at the London Palladium after facing backlash for his new pro-Israel song “We Will Dance Again,” the singer’s manager announced on Thursday on social media.
Paul Kemsley said a statement that “after careful consideration,” he decided the Culture Club singer, 65, would no longer appear in the in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. “The decision has been made with the utmost respect for the producers, the creative team and the entire company,” he wrote. “We are grateful for the professionalism and understanding they have shown throughout and sincerely wish everyone involved every success with the production.”…
Earlier this week, Boy George released a pro-Israel song on social media with a Hebrew title that translates to “We Will Dance Again.” On the track, he sings: “You say genocide, I say war / When you’re attacked, that’s what the army’s for / Does it get ugly? You bet it does / When I know you wanna kill every last one of us.” In the chorus he sings: “We will dance again / And there will be no war / But if you’re ever confused / I stand with the Jews / I don’t feel brave, I just need to behave like a human.”…
“When I say ‘they want to kill every last one of us’ I am also talking about us queers not just the Jewish community. When will you wake up? Regardless of which side you take, I am disgusted by anyone who posts hatred against anyone but refuses to show their face. If you have something powerful to say then you should have the guts to show the world who you are but most, if not all of you, are unwilling to show your faces and the only reason is self interest.”
Boy George is referring to those people who show up for anti-Israel demonstrations wearing balaclavas (cagoules, ski masks) to hide their faces, for fear that if they are identified, they might lose their jobs, for not everyone, thank god, shares their anti-Israel animus.
Boy George didn’t take back anything he sang about Israel. He understood that the antisemites in the audience would indeed scream bloody murder at his appearance on stage as Herod, and was perfectly prepared for the sake of the production to pull out. Meanwhile, because of this contretemps, and his stepping aside, the defiant words he sang in support of Israel have received far more attention than they would otherwise have done. And that’s good.

I was never a fan of his music, but he’s great. Does he still live in Britain? If so, it’s particularly courageous of him to do what he did. At any rate, Londonabad is the last place he ought to be doing any of his gigs: he might as well travel to Gaza or Basra or Lahore to do them

He went to the exhibition that depicts the horrifying jihadi assault on the Nova Festival. He looked, listened, thought, asked questions, and paid due attention… he took it seriously… he listened, really listened, to one of the female survivors who was there giving her testimony. And then, shortly after, at white heat, he wrote his song.
And it has made a distinct impression.
What strikes me, is the basic commonsense he has exhibited – “You call it genocide, I call it war/ When you’re attacked, that’s what the army’s for!”

I hope he digs in his toes and stands firm. And I hope he writes more songs! More songs like this one! Some really good songs that stick in people’s brains and go viral across the internets might stand a chance of cutting through all the propaganda fog.
But I also hope he’s got some serious bodyguards… He’s got a target painted on his chest, now, exactly like Asma Bint Marwan, back in the day.

Boy George was raised Irish Catholic but obviously thinks for himself. He may have faced discrimination in his life, so would be more open to researching which group is the more tolerant. He knows that Israelis are very tolerant and Islamic countries hunt you down if you are gay. He knows that Israelis don’t butcher innocents.
He’s not one of the useful idiots that believe the duplicitous Muslims who march for LGBT.. rights and trans and women’s rights and the environment Islam believes in eradicating those rights as soon as Sharia law is imposable.
