It ain’t just the Taliban.
Turkey’s directorate of religious affairs (Diyanet) said in January 2018 that under Islamic law, girls as young as nine can marry.

There is no minimum age for marriage and that girls can be married “even if they are in the cradle.” — Dr. Salih bin Fawzan, prominent cleric and member of Saudi Arabia’s highest religious council
“Islam does not forbid marriage of young children.” — Pakistan’s Council of Islamic Ideology
And where did they all get this idea? From Muhammad’s marriage to six-year-old Aisha, consummated when he was 54 and she was nine, and abundantly attested in Islamic tradition, as we have documented here many times. Islamic apologists in the West often try to claim that Islamic tradition really holds that Aisha was older, but if that were true, they can’t explain why so many Muslims are following Muhammad’s example by having sex with children or saying that there is no Islamic barrier to doing so.

A teenage girl has spent nearly two years in a Taliban prison, at times suffering torture, after she refused to marry an elderly local commander.
Bibi Sediqa has spent the last 21 months in a harsh Taliban jail for refusing to marry 70-year-old Mawlawi Khodainazar, an influential commander in Afghanistan’s Badghis province, according to the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA).
Rukhshana, an independent Afghan media organisation, reported that Khodainazar forced Bibi to move into his home when she was 12 in order to settle a debt her father owed the commander.
Khodainazar is said to have used armed intimidation tactics to try and force Bibi’s father to consent to the marriage. But even under duress, she denied his request.
Though a Taliban court initially ruled in the girl’s favour, Khodainazar reportedly lobbied a judge in Badghis to have the case moved to a more advantageous court.
It was there that a judge imprisoned the young girl under a judgment that her family considers unjust.
Bibi, who was jailed at the age of 14 and is now 17 according to Rukhshana, was sentenced to five years in prison.
During her imprisonment, she has been subject to torture in an effort to wear her down. This treatment, as well as the lack of access to justice, has reportedly left Bibi with severe psychological trauma.
Her mother has also suffered serious health problems as a result of her daughter’s imprisonment….

My wife and I met a woman in a tavern in Connecticut earlier this week. We were all sitting at the bar and got to talking. Long story short, she was a total lib and what I am about to convey is no joke, to wit and get this, that at the turn of the century (c.1900) Afghan women had more freedoms than did American women. At first I thought I had not heard her right—but I had. And when I as diplomatically as possible disputed her claim by pointing out such things as women in western states like Wyoming and Utah getting the vote decades before the 19th Amendment made the female franchise nationwide or that Islamic law condones the hitting of women (e.g., Sura 4:34), it made no difference. She was convinced I had no idea what I was talking about and looked at me with that liberal smirk that I long ago came to recognize.
My wife and I left saying to each other what we have both known for many years now and that is for those on the Left facts are optional. Ideology is paramount.

Wow, to think that anyone could believe that Afghanistan was a better place for women to be in than America around 1900 (or ever) takes a stretch of stupidity and ignorance that is beyond measurement. This same woman manifested utter disgust with how repressive America remains to women’s rights, even to this day. Talk about clueless, but this is in keeping with what I call “Leftthink,” which bodes ill for America and all the West if it continues to prevail. Alas, it’s still continuing to prevail.

I had a similar conversation with a libtard woman from Toronto but we were in San Fransicko. Basically her argument was that western civilization is a “gradual as she says, and that it was actually Islam all along that gave us every thing. I was trying to be very polite because I am very well read.
Interestingly, she was not that interested up until I had to pay my bill and I pulled out a fresh rack of 10,000 usd…. Her body twitched , I swear to god. Her whole demeanor changed. No thanks bitch!

Mo, since the US pulled out there is nothing–and stuff almost as bad went on even when we *were* there. Most women in prison in Afghanistan were running away from forced marriages and got caught. Things have just gotten worse since then.

The entire population of Afghanistan is Muslim: there are hardly any non-muslims left, especially after the Taliban takeover version 2. Why can’t these parents marry off their daughters to boys somewhat older than them, say 18? If they must marry off their 9 year olds, marry them off to someone who’s at most in his 20s, where both would share most of their lives together. Instead, for cases like these, this 14 year old will probably be married for 15 years, assuming that the 70 year old hubby dies at 85, and will be widowed from the age of 30. If she has kids from him, the father will hardly have the energy to play his role adequately in the family
Afghanistan is not like say, like Iran, where the elderly population is muslim but the younger population is murtad. The entire population is practically muslim, so they could just encourage younger men, or even boys, to marry those young girls if they wanna get rid of them (which is the main idea behind child marriage)

What happened to that 14 year old girl was tragic . She was the innocent one because nobody who is decent would or expect her to marry that old man. Compared to her age , he was a very old man’.
That the Taliban imprisoned and tortured for refusing to marry that senior citizen exposes how wickedly warped the cognition that Islam is able to make in the minds and hearts of its followers.

The reason muslims wait to marry girls until certain age is caused by Muhammad who married Aisha at 6 but consumated her at eight (nine if using the lunar year). It defies allah who says in Quran 65:4 that muslims can marry and have sex with prepubescent girls.
We should at least thank Muhammad for that for his bravery to help the prepubescent girls, and let muslims know that Muhammad is the perfect example of how to marry children, and allah is the bad guy even for Muhammad.
I think many muslim are calling to kill any one who offend Muhammad, but not allah. So I should be safe form the muslims and the left too, because I am praising Muhammad, right?

As one scholar on Islam, Robert Spencer, wrote that the Islamic tradition records that Muhammad consummated his marriage with (i.e., raped) Aisha when she was nine, and the resultant fact that child marriage is accepted in wide swaths of the Islamic world. Child marriage has abundant attestation in Islamic tradition and law.”
Muslims view their Prophet Muhammad and their take him as the perfect module to follow as an example of how to live their own lives.
Furthermore, another scholar of Islam, Brigitte Gabriel, in her book, which is entitled “They Must Be Stopped” which on pages 171, that exposes that “Control of behavior and disregard for human life are key elements in Islamic ideology.” Very obviously, this control extends even to the evilest Islamic extent of control over young girls.
