The very first thing that Wes Streeting, Britain’s new secretary of state for defence, did when he assumed his office was to denounce Israel for how the IDF has been conducting its war in Gaza. Streeting insisted that the IDF soldiers did not “meet the same standard” that the UK military sets for itself. He’s right, but not in the way he thinks: the IDF does not meet “the same standard” as the UK military, because it goes far beyond the UK in its tremendous campaign to warn civilians away from sites about to be targeted, by, dropping millions of leaflets, sending millions of text messages, and making millions of robocalls.
More on the egregious Streeting can be found here: “Israel ‘fallen short’ of UK military standards in Gaza, new British defense chief says,” by Mathilda Heller, Jerusalem Post, July 23, 2026:
Israel has “fallen short” of the UK’s military standards during its war in Gaza, new British Defense Secretary Wes Streeting said Wednesday.Streeting, who entered the role this week, told journalists at the Farnborough International Airshow that as a “friend and ally,” Israel should be held to the same standards that the UK holds itself to.“That is the standard that I think, I fear, they’ve fallen short of,” he said. When asked to address his previous comments that “Israel is committing war crimes before our eyes,” Streeting told journalists, “I’m not going to pretend I didn’t make those comments.”
Colonel Richard Kemp, a staunch ally of Israel, disputed Streeting’s statements and wrote, “Israel exceeded what any other army could do in Gaza in fighting capabilities.”
“If he [Streeting] is talking about minimizing harm to non-combatants, they also exceeded all other armies’ precautions. I witnessed it first hand; he did not and nor did any of his staff or advisers.”…
Former British Army Major and now military historian Robert Lyman said on Thursday that he was informed that what Streeting said “is categorically not the advice he’s been given.”
“The MOD briefing document on this subject was based on Lieutenant General John McColl’s investigation,” he said.
Lyman then offered three options of what led to Streeting’s comments.
“One, he’s read the brief and disagreed with it. Two, he’s read the brief, but has ignored it for domestic political reasons. Or three, he hasn’t had time yet to read the brief, but wanted to position himself in the right place with his constituents from the get-go.”
I suspect that Streeting was determined to find fault with Israel in order to hold onto the support from millions of Muslims in the UK who are now citizens and can vote. I suggest that he did read the brief, and chose to ignore it. But with the findings of Colonel Richard Kemp, the leader of the British forces in Afghanistan, of John Spencer, the retired West Point Professor who is acknowledged as one of the world’s foremost authorities on urban warfare, of General Sir John McColl, who served in the British army for 38 years, of the military historian (and British army veteran) Robert Lyman, all of whom agree that, in John Spencer’s words, “Israel is applying more measures to minimize civilian casualties than any military in history,” Wes Streeting has some ‘splainin to do.

That’s rich, criticizing Israel on how they are fighting Hamas-holes while England sits on its hands while the ‘slimes take over their country without a shot fired in anger

Just another version of the blood libel, from the usual accusers.
It is convenient the Jew is always around to batter…he doesn’t need to tax his intellect

Just more evidence that Britain keeps descending, though by now no more evidence is really needed, now is it?
What a waste of a great civilization in Britain and why we live in, easy call here, the silliest age in history. Yes, there have been dark ages and all that, setbacks for man and all that, but I would ask what age in man’s history has been sillier than the one we are living in now? I know of none. Does anyone?

At one time I might have said the late Roman Empire, Wellington–a lot of suicidal idiocy at that time, when they could least afford it. But I think we have long since outstripped even them.

Uhh, in what recent war has the UK military shown their great military “standards”? Sending missiles, providing and loading their targeting data in the Ukraine war instead of sending soldiers? (While claiming the UK military is not a war participant)
And if Russia gives the UK a kinetic reason to understand, like Israel, that their existence is threatened would Wes Streeting’s mouth end its looseness about Israel? Let’s be honest, Streeting wants Israel gone.
The way things are going with immigration in London, two more generations and the UK might find itself gone and the Royal Family in exile.

You’re optimistic Westman. Far sooner than two generations !
Only a huge turnaround can save Great Britain.

Well, if he’s not careful, Britain could end up losing the Falklands again. In 1982, the US backed UK, while Israel was at the same time busy in Lebanon. This time, though, UK has fallen out of favor w/ the US, while Israel has found a new love for Argentina and Latin America, and would be more than happy to pick them over a country that has more often than not been hostile to either Israel, or the Jewish people

What else can you expect from a left wing homosexual.

Oh really??! The IDF has the highest and strictest standards in the world, for anybody who dares examine FACTS. But here, (on once planet earth) now on Alice and Wonderland, where up is down and down is up, facts don’t seem to matter.

The IDF are much kinder and gentler than Americans would be if ii came to war and survival.

I would not give penny for all the Labour politicians put together, they have been a disaster since winning office and the latest change of leadership does not promise much difference.

How far does Britain have to go before they realize they’ve been conquered by Islamists? This pandering to the Muslims will do no favors to what was once Britain. Here’s a thought, fix your own country before condemning another. Israel has become the climate change answer for politicians. Whatever is wrong, it’s because of climate change… or Israel. Deflection rather than responsibility is the only trick left for these politicians.
