Many will insist that there is nothing amiss here. There are always movements of peoples and demographic changes. There are also, in the lives of nations, sometimes large-scale changes of religion. England and Wales were Roman Catholic half a millennium ago, until a king decided that he wanted a divorce, and now Roman Catholics comprise around eight percent of the population of those lands. So if the UK now has a large and rapidly growing Muslim population, it’s just another one of those shifts in its overall character, but the nation itself will go one as it always has. There will always be an England.
Well, maybe there will. But within another fifty years, the most popular baby name is most likely still to be Muhammad, and the transformation of British society will have been profound, to the extent that by then, everyone will take for granted that in the first quarter of the twenty-first century, Britain underwent a massive societal change, although very few people noticed it was happening at the time, and most of those who did notice it were rewarded for their noticing with stigmatization as “racists,” “bigots,” and “Islamophobes.”
The fact is, however, that the transition from “Noah,” the previous most popular name for baby boys, to “Muhammad” is not at all like the shift from “John” to “Paul.” The rapid growth of the Muslim population will have implications for Britain in virtually every aspect of society. Soon those implications will be obvious and unmistakeable.

For the third year in a row, Muhammad is the most popular name for baby boys born in 2025 in England and Wales.
In 2025, 5,957 boys were named ‘Muhammad’, while ‘Noah’ was the second most popular, according to official figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). ‘Leo’ moved up two spots to third place, passing ‘Oliver’ and ‘Arthur’.
This spelling of the Prophet’s name (PBUH) has been among the top 10 most popular names for baby boys in England and Wales since 2016.
Although ‘Muhammad’ by itself did not lead the rankings before 2023, when you add other spellings of the name, it has been at the top of the charts for more than ten years.
Two other spellings of the name are also in the top 100 for 2024 — ‘Mohammed’ (20) and ‘Mohammad’ (55)….
The ONS counts each spelling of a name separately and has said that combining similar spellings would make things confusing, since it would require making a ‘subjective decision’ about names.
“So to make a fair comparison either all names should be treated separately or all names on the list should be combined with names that have a similar spelling,” it said in a blog in 2016….

There are instances of Middle East christians with the name Muhammad, as well as other Islamic names. I have seen a Christian born Muhammad from a levant nation.
I doubt it is popular any longer, if at all. It was more of a product of Arabism, and older customs.

Yea. This was more common pre 1979, before islamism took more power within the Middle East.
Arabism was rife? And Christians were Arabized, tensions were much less commonplace. Oddballs were in fact named Muhammad but it was not common for Christians.
1979 1980 was such an interesting time in history for the MENA region if you look. The Lebanon war, Iran revolution, Iran Iraq war, the rise of Islamic terror, afghan. Soviet war, the mosque was taken in Mecca by early radical salafists. I read an amazing book, mainly concerning the pathetic Carter, the key figure in the rise of radical Islam.

Kesha, there is a great book on a guy who did just what you said.
He was some kind of radical Islamist and did some attacks. But then the French intelligence flipped him to an asset. He ended up being sent to Bin Laden’s camps in Afghanistan. When there he found an American spy inside the camp and told the American to get out because he had a flaw that would be soon discovered.
Very interesting book, not too long. Morocco Muslim man.

Well, nature hasn’t changed sex ratios since humans have been present so there are almost as many “Fatmas” as new “Muhammads” subject to some reduction by modern, “sand burying”, which can happen much sooner after sex identification in the womb. We’d like to think that doesn’t happen, anymore.
Anyway, almost double the males to get a more accurate idea of the reproduction rates.
Some of these women will be smart enough to leave the fold and marry outside of Islam. Let’s hope, many.

Muhammad in various iterations is the first, twenty-first, and fifty-third most popular name for a male baby in the UK. Yusuf coimes in at sixty-seventh; but may also be borne by Copts, Syriacs, and some Pakistani and Indian Chrstians. Remember that Billy Graham’s Indian associate was named Abdul Haqq (his father apostasized from Islam). All the rest of the top seventy-five names for male babies in the UK are non-Muslim.
Still,I pray for the re-Chritianization of Britain. May God revive his churches there.

Muhammad is subsidized by Noah, so the new Noah Jr can’t be born because it’s too expensive.
Britain wants more Mohammad and less Noah, thus they structure their society to crush Noah. Rent is not affordable and the tax on income is too high. Muhammad’s father receives free rent, and is rewarded with a bigger home the more children he has they need rooms. The State moves them into proper houses when the family becomes large.

By coincidence, I happened to just start reading the “Pax Britannia” trilogy by James Morris. The first volume chronicles the rise of the great Victorian British Empire.
It opens with a quote from James Thomson’s “Rule Britannia”:
“ When Britain first, at Heaven’s command
Arose from out the azure main;
This was the charter of the land,
And guardian angels sung this strain:
“Rule, Britannia! rule the waves:
“Britons never will be slaves.”
I draw your attention to that last line, and contrast it with Robert’s often used phrase – which could form the epitaph on Britain’s grave: “Shattered, staggering dhimmi Britain”!
And so Britons WILL be slaves, victims of their (or perhaps primarily their leaders’) imperative to make up for their Imperial past. Death by expiation! Very sad indeed.
