Mass kidnappings in Nigeria actually show growing unrest, which isn’t favorable to a government that is busy promoting a global image flattering to itself. The country downplays its political crises and promotes reports flattering to the Tinubu regime.
Five months ago, the Nigerian government rejected media reports that it paid a “huge” ransom to Boko Haram in exchange for the release of over “200 pupils and staff abducted from a Catholic boarding school in November.”
Nigeria has a poor human rights record, which includes extreme persecution of Christians and media crackdowns to deceive the world. The latest news about the release and rescue of students whom “Muslim militants in Nigeria’s Oyo state” abducted in May is questionable. There is no information about numbers returned, or anything about the abductors. What is noteworthy, however, is that “the abductions in the southern state of Oyo had represented an escalation of the country’s security crisis.”
This is not an image that Nigeria wants to convey to the world, particularly since Trump has sternly warned Nigeria about its persecution of Christians (which has been characterized as a genocide). Nigeria has maintained its pattern of denial, as it now issues reports about rescues without any evidence.
“Students abducted in May by Muslim militants in Nigeria are rescued, government says,” Associated Press, July 10, 2026:
ABUJA, Nigeria — A group of students abducted in May by Muslim militants in Nigeria’s southwestern Oyo state have been rescued, the government said Friday.
Government spokesman Bayo Onanuga did not specify the total number of students rescued but authorities said at the time of the abductions from two secondary schools on May 15 that more than 40 people had been abducted.
Eight militants were arrested as part of the operation, Onanuga said….

The government is made up of muzzlims, and muzzlims are pathological liars. muzzlims say whatever they think will spread the evils of islime.
The Truth may be that all of the students are dead. It may be that they are alive, but still held. We can not know for sure unless a non-muzzlim group gets the real story and makes it known.
