Muslim Migrants in Austria Find the Living Is Easy

And Austrian authorities are determined to get them off the welfare rolls, where too many of them are happy to remain for years. It’s not hard to see why. The Austrian government lavishes so many benefits upon them: free or greatly subsidized housing, free medical care, free language tuition, free vocational training, free education, family allowances, unemployment benefits even without a record of employment, minimum-income payments, and much more. If they feel the need to supplement those benefits, some turn to crime. Street robberies house burglaries, shoplifting, pickpocketing all add to their monthly take.

Three-quarters of households in Vienna connected to migrants from popular asylum-origin countries are unable to support themselves without government benefits, according to figures analyzed by Statistics Austria.

The analysis, cited by Kronen Zeitung, covered approximately 103,000 households across Austria containing at least one recognized refugee, asylum-seeker, or person granted subsidiary protection from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Somalia, or Chechnya in the Russian Federation.

Note that these all six of these countries are Muslim lands.

Vienna recorded by far the highest rate of welfare dependence. About 75 percent of the households examined in the capital relied on minimum-income payments or comparable state support, meaning only one in four was considered economically self-sufficient.

Nationwide, 47 percent of the households included in the study could not support themselves independently, according to Exxpress.

Almost 50 percent of these Muslim-migrant households are still not self-supporting after years in Austria. The welfare state breeds dependency. Besides, the Muslim recipients can justify this situation by interpreting those welfare benefits as a kind of proleptic jizyah, which the Infidel state provides. They do not feel shame for receiving all these benefits, but rather, a sense of triumph that they are managing to make the hated Infidels — “the most vile of created beings” — pay for their upkeep.

For the purposes of the analysis, a household was considered self-sufficient when its income came from employment, pensions, unemployment insurance, or sickness benefits rather than minimum-income assistance and related welfare programs.

The findings stand in sharp contrast to the figures for Austrian households without an immigrant background. Depending on the state, between 90 percent and 93 percent of those households were classified as self-sufficient. Vienna again performed worse than the rest of the country, although its rate among non-immigrant households remained approximately 86 percent.

Native Austrians feel embarrassment and shame at having to rely on welfare payments, and try to become self-sufficient as soon as they can. More than 90% of Austrian households are, in fact, self-sufficient. But half of the Muslim migrants in Austria still rely heavily on welfare benefits; they are not shamed into work. But the Austrian government now wants to make those determined deadbeats an offer they can’t refuse.

Integration Minister Claudia Bauer said the figures demonstrated the need to move welfare recipients into employment more rapidly….

The minister indicated that future policy would place greater emphasis on enforcing integration obligations. Recipients who refuse to participate in required integration measures could face reductions in taxpayer-funded benefits….

What integration measures will Muslims be required to participate in? These will undoubtedly include such things as taking courses in the following: the German language to the level of functional literacy; European history and the history of Austria; Austria’s political system, including the separation of church and state, freedom of speech, and religious freedom, meaning the freedom to change one’s religion for another or for no belief at all; the equality of the sexes, and more.

The tightening of eligibility requirements for minimum-income assistance has in Austria turned many migrant work-avoiders into work-seekers. Once that tightening was put in place, one-third of those who had been unemployed and living on welfare very quickly became employed.

Austrian citizens accounted for 359 recipients, or 28 percent of the total, despite representing the large majority of the city’s population.

And some of those counted as “Austrian citizens” on welfare in fact are the children of Muslim migrants, or are Muslim migrants who have become naturalized citizens.

What Austria is now trying to do — apply economic pressure to get its welfare-dependent migrant population to become gainfully employed — is what every country in Europe, collectively spending more than one hundred billion euros on this population, will have to do. Perhaps the most effective measure is to implement a total ban on non-citizens or new arrivals claiming state welfare or social housing for the first five years in the country. Those immigrants will either quickly find work, or better still, will try to find “asylum” in another country in Europe that is more lenient in its welfare rules, or best of all, will return to their countries of origin.
