Mamdani Accused Netanyahu of War Crimes Two Days Before a Muslim Stabbed a Jew

Two days before a Muslim screaming “Allahu akbar” stabbed a Jew in New York City.

For his address condemning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, New York City’s Marxist Twelver Shi’ite Mayor Zohran Mamdani was seated behind an imposing desk, with American and New York flags flanking him. Gone was the clumsy and unintentionally comic grandstanding of his July 4 remarks, when he chose to sit backwards at George Washington’s desk, with a gaggle of glum people who were clearly chosen to show off his commitment to “diversity” and “multiculturalism” all around him, grimly clutching small U.S. flags. Appearing alone, Mamdani was just as grim, but this time was doing everything he could to make it clear he meant business.

Despite his improving grasp of what makes for real solemnity as opposed to a comic opera parody thereof, Mamdani’s address indicting the Israeli prime minister was just more grandstanding. After leveling a large number of false and hysterical accusations against Netanyahu, Mamdani admits that he cannot legally follow through on his campaign vow to arrest Netanyahu: “My administration has reviewed every avenue available under applicable law to determine whether New York City could execute the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant if Benjamin Netanyahu came here. It is clear that we do not have the independent legal authority to enforce this warrant.”

Uh, yeah. And so those New Yorkers who are not counting the days until pure communism is implemented and the workers’ paradise dawns upon the world, or who are not marking their calendars in anticipation of the full implementation Allah’s perfect Sharia, might wonder why the mayor decided to deliver this solemn address at all. Are there no problems in New York? Does the mayor have nothing to do, to the extent that he has to try to find ways to while away the time, say, by commenting on world affairs that are far outside his jurisdiction?

What’s really going on here is most likely that Mamdani is simply not as interested in the affairs of New York City as he is in Israel and Gaza. As a Marxist Twelver Shi’ite, he holds to two ideologies that want to see Israel destroyed, as a colonial oppressor and as an insult to Islam. That issue interests him much more than questions of the safety of New Yorkers, or the cleanliness of New York streets, or whatever else may be on his desk at the moment.

Mamdani is not interested in being mayor of New York in order to improve the quality of life of New Yorkers; in fact, he wants to engulf them in misery so that the socialist Islamic system of his dreams can be implemented more quickly. In the meantime, what really interests him is the gravitas and authority that comes from being mayor of New York, which he can use, as he does here, to defame a decent man whom he hates and fears, and to push “Palestinian” propaganda.

And so Mamdani began by declaring: “Benjamin Netanyahu is a war criminal, the architect of a horrific genocide against the Palestinian people. He is responsible for the killing of more than 73,000 people.” Mamdani said nothing about the October 7 jihad massacre, or about who exactly started the conflict in which these people were killed. His 73,000 total, meanwhile, included Hamas jihadis.

Political commentator Yehuda Teitelbaum stated: “Mamdani just went on camera and counted dead Hamas terrorists as innocent victims of the Gaza war. Read that again. The mayor of New York City is publicly mourning terrorists who invaded Israel, raped women, burned families alive, kidnapped children, and have repeatedly tried to murder Jews in this city and around the world. He doesn’t distinguish between civilians and Hamas because he doesn’t want to. To him, a dead Hamas murderer is one more victim of ‘the Jews.’”

Mamdani also accused Netanyahu of “the targeting of neonatal hospitals and maternity care centers, denying newborns even the chance to live,” as well as of starving people by blocking “food and humanitarian aid from reaching them,” and more. He didn’t say anything about Hamas using hospitals as headquarters so that, if the Israelis targeted them, the strike could be used for propaganda purposes. He didn’t say anything about how Hamas withheld the aid from its own people in order to maintain its control over them.

Mamdani also said: “While we cannot end the genocide on our own, we can decide whether our silence will become another weapon, and we can examine every tool we have to defend the humanity and dignity of all people.” As high-sounding as this was, it, too, was hollow. West Point Professor John Spencer commented: “There is/was never a genocide in Gaza. The opposite actually, one side (Israel) vaccinating, feeding, helping with all services (medical, drinking water, power) while taking extraordinary steps to protect civilians in the worst urban warfare scenario arguably ever seen and the other side (Hamas) doing everything it can to get civilians killed, stealing food, targeting civilians that do not do their demands. The mayor is a liar and worse.”

Yes, he is. Will Jewish and pro-Israel New Yorkers be endangered as a result? As far as he is concerned, so much the better.
