I visited Manhattan a few months ago w/ my son, only b’cos that was a place he really wanted to visit. I was going to take the train from NJ, except that a one-way ticket to Penn Station would have been close to $40, meaning $160 round trip for both of us, plus parking at that NJ station, so I drove instead. Driving in NYC was worse than driving in Calcutta: the traffic in the latter city is a lot less clogged. It was hard to find a BK or McD that stood alone w/ its own parking: one had to park on a main road w/ metered parking. After finishing lunch there, I just got out of there
I just don’t get the appeal that the youth have for that city. Even when I was in my 20s, I still didn’t like places like NYC or SF, where one had to struggle just to find parking. Even if I were a business owner, NYC is one of the last places I’d want to open a shop

I have visited NYC a couple of times–the second not long after 9/11. I actually love the city–but it is intense and I’m not sure I’d want to live there–it would be exhausting.
