Drones have come into their own in the last several years. The Ukrainians have used them with great effect against Russia, and the Islamic Republic has made them its weapon of choice, which it employs in attacks against the Gulf Arab states, American bases in the region, and Israel. They are cheap to make, and the missiles used to intercept them cost ten to 100 times as much. But now Israeli weapons scientists have come up with a way to “blind” those drones both by jamming and spoofing their GPS systems, so that they cannot hit their targets.
More on this latest spectacular advance in anti-drone technology can be found here: “IAI’s new ‘HYPNOSIS’ system aims to blind enemy drones in flight,” by Moshe Gerstley, Jerusalem Post, July 19, 2026:
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has unveiled a new counter unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) called HYPNOSIS, a new high‑power navigation warfare (NAVWAR) air‑defense system designed to disrupt and neutralize aerial threats that rely on satellite‑based navigation. The system adds a dedicated soft‑kill layer to existing air‑defense architectures, aiming to counter the growing use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) deployed in large numbers.
The new capability aims to resolve a threat that has disrupted hundreds of flights across flight corridors around conflict zones and dramatically disrupted shipping in the Strait of Hormuz since the start of the war with Iran.
Modern aerial platforms-especially drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles-depend on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) for precise positioning and timing data. By jamming or spoofing these signals, HYPNOSIS prevents hostile systems from accurately navigating to their targets.
Spoofing and jamming have emerged as powerful tools for disrupting GPS signals, with military forces long using these methods in electronic warfare.
Jamming is the more straightforward of the two. It involves overwhelming GPS receivers with noise or interference on the same frequency used by satellites. Because GPS signals are extremely weak, by the time they reach earth, even low-powered jamming devices can block them entirely….
When the United States provides aid to Israel, much of that aid is used to support a cadre of brilliant weapons scientists in the Jewish state. Their revolutionary advances in weapons technology are then immediately shared with the Americans. American aid to Israel is the best foreign investment that the Pentagon has ever made. That record didn’t keep 103 Democratic Congressmen and a single Republican, the antisemitic Tom Massie, from voting to end that aid, apparently oblivious to how American national security benefits so greatly from Israeli advances in weaponry. Fortunately, those 103 Democratic Congressmen could not even a muster a majority in their own party; 109 Congressional Democrats refused to vote to end that aid, and so it will continue, to fund the new weaponry that helps keep Israel, and the United States, safe.

There needs to be an operation called BOOMERANG where the drone returns to bomb the location it was launched from.

Yes indeed! 🙂

Count on the God Bless Them Jews to invent this–if they haven’t already done so.

Comparing the cost of the drone with the cost of killing it is incorrect. The correct comparison is the cost of the damage the drone can do with the cost of killing the drone. If a cheap drone carrying a nuclear weapon could destroy mots of a city and kill thousands of people, what is it worth to kill it before it can strike? From Cost Accounting.

Good points, Frank. The main point is the damage a drone can do–which often far outweighs its cost.

Another common example from Ukraine. A drone costing a few thousand dollars drops a grenade or mortar shell in the hatch of a Russian tank costing millions, killing the crew. What’s stopping the drone worth?

I am amazed at how Ukraine has turned the tables on Russia, particularly by blowing up their Wildberries warehouses. Even more than that, them hitting spots not just near Moscow and St Petersburg, but all over European Russia. They’ve done a good job taking advantage of how busy the US is in Iran by just working w/ the Europeans, and themselves, and taking the war to Russia – something they could have done even earlier
Last I looked, they were completely softening up Belgorod Oblast, making it unusable for fresh waves of Russian troops. At this rate, I can easily see Russia lose that war, and their humiliation will be unparalleled in history, even more than the Russo-Japanese war of 1905

I am amazed and disappointed how FEW people see a parallel in history with the present war in Ukraine and the American Revolution 250 years ago. Watching the movie 1776 shows the kind of gutless doubt that many “experts” have today for people who have seen millions slaughtered by Russians. More people were murdered in 18 months of the Holodomor than in all the Holocaust.

Agreed, Infidel and Frank.

I’m sorry and apologize to anyone who is offended by my observation that Retired General Blaine Holt (Newsmax) is so out of touch with history that if he were advising the Continental Congress and they accepted his advice WE would still be paying UK taxes and signing Hail to the King. The American Revolution was just as big a mismatch of NUMBERS as Ukraine vs Russia. But numbers can be overcome by WILL. Ukraine has seen many times including the present the EVIL that Russia represents. General Holt has been brainwashed by his training.

The article did not state when (if) the anti-drone technology is available. I hope it is immediate. The article ought to go to the 103 Democrats with a request for feedback comments.

Hopefully, this is immediately applicable and can help in the war with Iran and its proxies.
The world will use this technology while demonizing Israel.

As always, Israel, please don’t tell us what you can do. Just surprise your enemies: that would be more useful in future deterrance
