A French woman has finally regained her freedom after allegedly spending more than 12 years in captivity at the hands of her Pakistani husband. Pakistani police rescued 54-year-old Sylvie Yasmina and her five children from a mud-brick house in Bara, in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The rescue has exposed years of alleged physical abuse, psychological torture, and isolation, while reigniting concerns about foreign women trapped in abusive marriages with Muslim men who take them to Islamic countries.
The rescue operation began when one of Yasmina’s sons slipped out of the family home and reached a nearby police station. He told officers that his mother and siblings had spent years confined inside the house and subjected to abuse. Police raided the residence and found Yasmina and the remaining children living in what is described as an “extremely dilapidated” room under distressing conditions, even by Pakistani standards.
Officers arrested Yasmina’s husband, Ahmad Khan, shortly after the raid under charges of physically and mentally abusing his wife and children while effectively imprisoning them inside the family home. District Police Chief Waqar Ahmad said investigators have launched criminal proceedings, and are examining the full extent of the alleged offenses.
In her statement to police, Yasmina described years of relentless violence and intimidation. She alleged that her husband exercised complete control over the household, prevented family members from leaving freely or interacting with others, and subjected them to almost daily abuse. She told investigators that the ordeal destroyed both her future and the future of her children.
Police also documented the family’s harsh living conditions. Officers found Yasmina and the children crowded into a deteriorating room with few basic amenities. Several family members bore visible bruises and injuries, while Yasmina had injuries on her face when officers arrived. Investigators said the physical condition of the victims and the house corroborated allegations of prolonged abuse and neglect.
According to investigators, Yasmina married Ahmad Khan in Australia in 2003, where the couple lived for several years before moving to Pakistan in 2014. Yasmina alleged that she gradually lost her freedom after the relocation and became trapped in an abusive environment from which she could not escape.
The children’s circumstances make the case even more disturbing. The two eldest children reportedly stopped attending school after the family relocated to Pakistan, while the three younger children, all born there, never received any formal education. They grew up entirely isolated from society, deprived of schooling, social interaction, and a normal childhood.
Following the rescue, officials transferred Yasmina and her children to a women’s protection facility in Peshawar, where they remain under official protection. Yasmina has expressed her desire to return to France, and Pakistani authorities have begun working with French officials and the French Embassy to facilitate the family’s repatriation.
The case has drawn strong reactions from human rights groups. Shabina Ayaz, director of Pakistan’s Aurat Foundation, condemned the alleged abuse and urged Pakistani and French authorities to provide long-term protection and rehabilitation for Yasmina and her children. Rights advocates say domestic violence remains a serious challenge in Pakistan, where many victims never report abuse because of social stigma, fear of retaliation, and limited access to legal remedies.
But Yasmina’s captivity is far from an isolated case. Over the past several decades, women from Western and other non-Islamic countries have stated that after marrying Muslim men and relocating to their husbands’ home countries, they became trapped in abusive relationships, lost control of their passports, faced restrictive custody laws, endured social isolation, or found themselves unable to leave because of threats and intimidation.
Among the best-known cases is that of Betty Mahmoody, an American woman and author of Not Without My Daughter, who traveled to Iran with her Iranian husband, Sayyed Bozorg Mahmoody, in 1984. Her husband then confiscated their travel documents, refused to let her and their daughter return to the United States, and subjected her to abuse and forced Islamic practices on her and hr daughter. After 18 months, Betty and her daughter escaped through Turkey.
India has witnessed several cross-border disputes of this kind. In 2017, Uzma Ahmed alleged that a Pakistani man, Tahir Ali, forced her to marry him at gunpoint after she traveled to Pakistan. She eventually escaped to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, and returned to India following an order from the Islamabad High Court.
Another widely known case involved Indian author Sushmita Banerjee, who married Afghan businessman Jaanbaz Khan and chronicled her experiences under Taliban rule in her memoir Kabuliwala’s Bengali Wife. In 2013, armed militants abducted her from her home and shot her multiple times, leaving her bullet-riddled body outside a madrasa. Afghan authorities blamed militants for the killing, while a Taliban splinter group later claimed responsibility.
Germany has also recorded similar allegations. In 2023, Hadia Sher Ali, a German woman of Pakistani origin, claimed that her husband lured her to Pakistan under false pretenses, confiscated her passport, and prevented her from returning to Germany until diplomatic intervention helped secure her release.
Authorities in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia have also handled numerous consular cases involving women stranded in Islamic countries after marriages broke down. Almost all of these victims reported passport confiscation, domestic abuse, child custody disputes, or legal barriers that prevented them from leaving countries such as Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan with their children. British authorities have also dealt with numerous such cases. The UK’s Forced Marriage Unit (FMU) provides consular assistance to British nationals trapped in forced marriages overseas.
The case of Sylvie Yasmina should serve as a warning to women considering marriage with men from Islamic countries. Muslim men have successfully targeted Western women who possess little understanding of Islam, their orthodox culture, and a way of life that differs sharply from the modern Western world, or whom pro-Islam groups in the West have misled, presenting a false and flattering picture of Islam while downplaying these realities.

Western females, kindly refrain from talking to, going out with, sleeping with, or marrying Muslim males. They should not be on your dance card. Years ago my very beautiful sister-in-law started to play tennis with a Pakistani graduate student. He invited her, in the friendliest way, to visit him at his family home in Peshawar. She turned him down flat and, indeed, stopped playing tennis with him. I can just imagine what might have happened.

Yeah, all too common story. If you are desperate for a man please consider the thousands of desperate and dateless groups in American churches, at least you won’t be treated like a slave or a dog.

Completely agree w/ you. Glad that your sister-in-law had the sense to sever ties w/ that guy. Given the rape saga in England and its instantiations in mainland Europe, that’s the minimum that Western women ought to do
I am actually less sympathetic to women in cases like this. Here you have secular Indians who think they’ll show the world how wonderful muslim spouses can be by marrying one. She did that and settled in Afghanistan. Then comes the Taliban and sends her to allah, or more precisely, to hell, since that’s where all muslimahs go, according to Muhammad. She thought she was being cute by writing a novel “Kabuliwala’s Bengali Wife”. Well they showed her
Incidentally, it’s not just muslims husbands who are a red flag. muslimahs too are: I have read stories about Hindu/Sikh men being the same targets of “love-jihad”: a muslimah catfishes them, initially either pretends to be Hindu, or tells them that her family has no issues w/ interfaith marriages. After marriage, they start getting coerced into converting to islam by either wife and/or family
Just avoid muslims altogether. Even if they are “ex-muslims”, nobody can say for sure when they are lying. So if an ex-muslim guy wants an Infidel girl, let him do his fishing in the world of ex-muslim girls. He’ll still have plenty of diversity from girls of other muslim nationalities who are ex-muslimahs as well

Infidel,
What muddled things up for women is for example what I’ve witnessed. Where I live there is a vibrant Iranian community. So the women here would grow up with these very secularized non Islamic Iranians, and this leaves an image of what Iranians and Muslims are to them.
The bad cases I’ve heard also, is these women end up marrying Muslims because of this being their only knowledge, and they ignored warnings.
One specific case a younger girl was left with three children, as her husband the Muslim took off most of the assets, and even loaded valuables into a container ship to ship it back home. He maxed out all credit and bought what he could to take home to Pakistan,
Effectively he abandoned them and married other women in Pakistan. But wait it gets worse. He eventually made contact with them, and he got this foolish woman to agree to send the kids to Pakistan for periods of time. They ended up being islamized, and this lead to even more trouble with these children. The Muslim husband had a much more complicated agenda than she realized. He attempted to have the teenage girl married, and he even arranged marriages for the boys in Pakistan, these marriages never went through last I heard.
I do not know what’s driving became of this wreck of a family. I imagine her parents passed away and she may have inherited a few million, and I also imagine with great certainty, that the Muslim man would like to work his way back into that money some how some way.
Point being, a secularized Muslim, or even an atheist one may be the only interaction these women have ever had with them. And the rest would be “right wing propaganda” for these women who are mostly democrats.

That story doesn’t surprise me at all. I’ve heard a ton of these same stories.
1. The movie about the American woman who escaped her Islamic husband from Iran. Not without my daughters
2. There is a famous documentary on YouTube about a ma who’s father was a Saudi prince. He was getting women pregnant and leaving them in the west. The son ended up going to look for his father. And he even got to meet his Saudi family members, but the father could not see him because he was an infidel. He was simply a win for Islam. How many siblings did he have running around the west. Who knows
3. Personally I heard similar stories vaguely. I remember as well a Pakistani and an Egyptian story. It’s a simple mission the Muslims are on. To get as many women pregnant and spread their culture. It’s a win against us. Plus it gets better for them, me and you the tax payer can pay to take care of the offspring. A major strategic victory for Islam. Too easy for them.
4. Grooming gangs all over the west, as well as prostitution rings in Europe are owned by Muslims as well. A major strategic victory when you control that many birth canals, you control the population exponentially. Plus, the white men of that given nation like America or Britain, side with the Muslims not themselves. They’ll even cover up grooming gangs, and provide them all these prostitutes to manage. Another win, the western men think it’s a win for them as well, it’s not.

The 1979 Iranian revolution made its contribution of leaving pregnant girlfriends and wives behind in the US when the Iranian university students were ordered home. How many babies went into the adoption system? The same may have happened in Europe.
Who knows what happened to the foreign women who were taken to Iran and found they were under strict Islamic control by close family, extended family, and government.

The real news in this story was Pakistani police intervening and arresting the husband. Just contrast that w/ the way their police look the other way when Paki Christian/Hindu/Sikh minor girls are kidnapped and “married” to old imams
I do blame Western education systems for not teaching islam and its practices truthfully. Had Sylvie Yasmina known what we do, she’d never have willingly dated, much less married, any muslim. She can consider herself very lucky that the police intervened on her behalf: usually, for domestic disputes, they look the other way

Infidel, I don’t just blame the Western education but the systemic death of free speech like third world countries. The will of the elites in West just seems to be lacking to expose or educate about the genocidal doctrine of Satan/islamic allah. On the brighter sight the West’s eyes are slowing opening

There’s a trashy TV show, 90 Day Fiancée, where American women become involved with Muslims from various Islamic countries. (I admit I used to watch it for its cringeworthiness, but stopped doing so a few yesrs ago – enough was enough.) In nearly all cases, the women break off the relationship due to abuse, pressure to convert, etc. The ignorance and naïveté of these women was astonishing. It was fortunate that the women were accompanied by production crews throughout to keep the Muslim men’s behavior from escalating into physical violence.
Beans🫘 says
Common sense
Yes. This is actually permissible for Muslim men to be with American women.
BUT, it is not permissible for a Muslim woman to be with an American man.
The reason is very simple. Because, Islam grows more if a Muslim impregnated an American woman , or even married one. Another man may marry the spare Islamic woman as a second wife. So you get a net increase.
Also, American white culture will totally give their daughter to a Muslim. This is very good for Islamic goals. Their culture will not give you their daughter. They’d rather do an honor killing to make sure Islam does not lose a single point.
How do you think it spread? Very easy. They protect their women, and Christians are totally open to give their children to Muslims. Even in Britain, literal children may be surrendered by the State as well as parents of Muslims to keep them happy.

Many Indonesian women who worked in Arab countries disappeared forever, or resurfaced after many years without any news, usually they returned in some health problem. Those poor women were alone inside the houses of the Arabs so when something happened, nobody knew at all.
The Indonesian government pretends to be concern, but what they do hardly reach the women. Not only the government doesn’t care, it also makes money from the poor women.
At the worst, those women borrow money for the agent fee and other cost, while actually all the cost have been paid by the future employers. Then the women must enter into a camp run by the government (they certainly pay for that). They have to fly using the national airline with the ticket cost a lot higher than normal. If they are lucky enough that they can return intact, the government put them back into the camp so that they can extort money from the women. As the camp can be nowhere, they have to pay extra to return home. And when they reach their home, they may find out their husbands have married again using the money received from the women.
Not every worker woman has the worst fate, but the number is big enough. If there are millions working in Arab countries, even 1% makes tens of thousands victims. And it is a lot more than 1%, probably tens of %.
It is the result of Islam that produces many evil people who think that they are good people.

For another lucid account of the perils of marriage to plausible mohammedans: see the redoubtable Phyllis Chesler’s two analyses of her own youthful folly, from which per miraculum she was able to awaken, and escape: “My Afghan Captivity” and “An American Bridge in Kabul”.

I was just thinking of her. A few months after 9/11, when it had become clear that leftists had become totally infatuated with Muslims, she wrote an essay in the “Chronicle of Higher Education” warning people about how sexist Muslims in general were. Back then, nothing was online, so I could not immediately see any responses to what she wrote and had to wait a couple weeks until the “Chronicle” printed formal letters responding to it. And all of them were negative. Every single one. It was hard to believe that so many people who would otherwise stick up for women being abused were so willing to ignore it if Muslims were involved.
Sadly, nothing has changed since then.

All women should watch this movie, it’s older but tells the truth: Not Without My Daughter, staring Sally Field.
All women of all ages need to stay away from Muslim men.
See a Muslim man, turn and walk away, do not engage for any reason.
Watch your surroundings and who is in the area, simply put do not be a victim.

True! Twenty years ago, I did. But given the obduracy of a lot of women in not seeing the evils of islam and insisting on proving their tolerant bona-fides, I just gloss over such stories just like I gloss over stories of traffic accidents
Particularly when those trends are overlaid w/ fourth wave feminists worldwide who otherwise treat (Infidel) men like dirt, particularly those who treat them well. The latter is looked at as simps, for a lot of the population. Such women deserve the muslims
Troybeam says
Knew a woman who married a Muslim, he was in all truth a nice person yet underlying traits came to light as time went on.
The changes started when his family moved to the same area he lived. He would drive 1 1/2 hours home, shower go to his mothers house same distance back without inviting his wife. This was a constant happening.
As far as I know he was not a wife beater but verbally he was brutal. They ended up divorced, this woman stayed away from his mother even though they had a good relationship. When his mother was dying the woman went to her & the mother stated that this is what it takes for you to see me.
Personally having Muslim neighbors and being the observer hears what I saw, women and men socialized in different rooms, men with American girlfriends well the girls were left in with the men never invited to be with women.
Ladies, this is truth is is not just a story: even if your stupid enough to submit to Islam you will never be accepted into the women circle, you will always be a foreigner. Do not in any way get involved with a Muslim be it a female or male.
John Pepple says
I too knew a woman who married a Muslim man. She was a friend of my sister’s. At some point, she realized he had a second wife whom he had kept hidden from her, and she divorced him.
