Francesca Albanese, the UN’s “Special Rapporteur for Conditions In the Occupied Palestinian Territories,” is possibly the most famous anti-Israel official in the world. She has nothing good to say about the tiny Jewish state, that she accuses of “apartheid” at home and “genocide” abroad. And she has an unsteady grasp of history when it comes to the Jews in Arab countries, whom she now insists lived happily in those lands until Israel’s “mistreatment” of the Arabs in the Nakba (by winning the 1948 war against those who would destroy it) led the Arabs in response to turn on those Jews to whom they had been so kind. 850,000 Jews were either expelled, or fled, from Arab lands between 1948 and the mid-1950s.

Francesca Albanese, special United Nations rapporteur for the Palestinians who has a long history of making anti-Israel comments, ought to read a book after her claim that Jews have been treated only in exemplary fashion in Arab lands since the Inquisition ended in the 19th century.
“Francesca Albanese can either read history books if she wished to—obviously she doesn’t—or she can meet people like my wife,” David Harris, executive vice chair of the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy, told JNS.
Harris, who was CEO of the American Jewish Committee from 1990 to 2022, is married to Giulietta Boukhobza, whose family comes from present-day Libya. That country is Judenrein, he told JNS, using the German for “Jew-free.”
“There is not a single Jew left in Libya. No trace. No plaque. No memorial. No monument. No museum. No school book reference. Nothing,” Harris said. “No citizenship. Any business venture required a majority Arab partner. No legal recourse. The list is a long one.”
After Libya became independent in 1951, new rules made it almost impossible for Jews to remain, and later, after the Six-Day War in 1967, “mobs came to the homes of Jews, including my wife’s family, to burn down and kill the Jews—very, very similar in a way to Oct. 7,” Harris told JNS.
At a June 19 gathering of current and former U.N. staffers, Albanese, whom the global body considers an independent “expert,” said that “Jews had been discriminated in Europe, not in West Asia, not in the Arab world, where they had been in fact welcomed once they were kicked out from Spain and other parts of Europe.”
Jews were “welcomed” in the Arab world? They were tolerated, but only as dhimmis subject to a host of political, economic disabilities.
Albanese’s comments, which took place during a webinar hosted by the anti-Israel group U.N. Staff For Gaza, have not been reported previously. She made the remarks as she compared the Holocaust and what she said is a “genocide” that Israel is carrying out against the Palestinians.
Ah yes. “Genocide.” Let’s try one more time to drill into Francesca Albanese’s thick skull what “genocide” requires. To wit: “Genocide” requires “intent.” But the IDF has never intended to kill civilians, though it recognizes that, as in all wars, there will unavoidably be some casualties among non-combatants. The IDF makes tremendous efforts to minimize those civilian casualties. To that end, it has dropped millions of leaflets, sent millions of text messages, and made millions of robocalls, all in order to warn civilians away from sites about to be targeted. West Point Professor John Spencer, taking note of the IDF’s conduct, has said that “Israel is applying more measures to minimize civilian casualties than any military in history.” It is Hamas that is trying to maximize civilian casualties, by hiding its combatants and weapons in schoolhouses, mosques, and apartment buildings. But try telling that to Francesca Albanese.
As for Albanese’s hideous comparing of the Israelis to the Nazis, such a comparison is antisemitic, according to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s working definition of Jew-hatred.
Francesca Albanese should go down in Italian history together with other women of her evil ilk — Lucrezia Borgia, Giulia Tofana (who poisoned men with what became known as the “aqua tofana” that is mentioned in Nabokov’s Ada), Messalina, and Caterina de’ Medici. She hasn’t killed anyone herself, but she has supported those who, in Hamas, have tortured, raped, mutilated, and mass murdered Jews. In the unhallowed halls of the UN, she has made herself an accessory after the fact.

For the Left, facts are always optional. Having been on the Left when I was young, you know, in college and all that, I gradually came to realize, principally though not solely, by my studies of the past (and I was a history major), that modern Leftism is full of it and that modern conservatism was the liberalism of some two hundred plus years ago.
Yes, Thomas Jefferson was the liberal and Alexander Hamilton was the conservative in George Washington’s Administration. But liberalism and conservatism since the 1790s have done a “180.” Then the conservative wanted more government (e.g., Hamilton’s desire for a National Bank) and the liberal wanted less government (e.g., Jefferson’s opposition to Hamilton’s banking proposals).
Well, it’s very different now, isn’t it? And here’s what happened: the liberalism of old, the late 18th century and early 19th century variety, went slowly but inexorably into socialist mode, i.e., MORE government and not less. This began with silly nonsense like Louis Blanc’s socialistic schemes and then went on steroids with the monumental stupidities that, as George Orwell opined, could only be created by intellectuals. Chief culprit here was Karl Marx.
The West has never recovered from this 180 “flip.” And so liberalism has gotten worse and worse since around 1840 (N.B., Jefferson died in 1826) and has betrayed, utterly betrayed, the liberalism of someone like “the man from Monticello,” who really did prize liberty and why he saw government as best when it governed least.
I would close here by noting that Alexander Hamilton was the chief conservative of his time in early independent America, wanting more government, but he would be appalled, I have no doubt, were he still here to see just how much “more government” the Left wants presently. Yes, a weak American nation arguably needed more centralization, even more than Jefferson wanted while Washington’s Secretary of State, but both Hamilton and Jefferson were in accord in opposing an overwhelming tyranny by government—and the reason each equally wanted to free the American colonies from the likes of George III and Lord North.
I’ve gone on far too long. But I will leave matters with this: I am a liberal—a Jeffersonian liberal.

Many Western women are a huge problem within Western societies. Those women are a clear and present danger to all Westerners both male and female. We need to put a stop it it. In our modern era those women started with killing their babies. Now they have moved on to killing their societies.
