Having served his seven-year sentence for raping as 14-year-old English school girl, Karam Majdi is fighting the British government’s move to deport him back to his country of origin, Egypt. A failed asylum seeker who raped a schoolgirl has claimed he cannot be deported back to Egypt because he is bisexual.
Karam Majdi was jailed for seven years in May 2018 after being convicted of raping the 14-year-old following a six-day trial at Brighton Crown Court.
Majdi, a student who was living at an address in Seafield Road, Hove, at the time of his arrest in 2017, met the schoolgirl at East Croydon station before travelling to a nearby hostel, where he raped her.
Now, the 27-year-old has told a tribunal he cannot be deported after claiming his sexuality would lead to him being persecuted in Egypt.
At a deportation tribunal on Thursday, it was heard he was deemed “high risk to children” during his imprisonment, reports MailOnline.
Representing the Home Office, George Mavrantonis, said: “Since 2021 he claimed to be bisexual. It is an embellishment, a fabrication for the asylum claim….
Of course it’s nonsense. In 2019, he reported having “dated girls”; he makes no mention of being attracted to men. And the Home Office is clearly not about to believe Karam’s transparently false claim. Never since he was first arrested in 2018 did he ever suggest he was “bisexual.” It is only now, when he faces deportation, that he suddenly remembers that he swings both ways.
Majdi allegedly lied to officials, claiming he was an unaccompanied child from Syria who had been fighting in Aleppo when he arrived in the UK by small boat in 2016.
At the time he arrived by boat in 2016, it made sense for this Egyptian to claim he was from Syria. At the time that country was racked by civil war, and Karam Majdi claimed to have been fighting with the rebels, and needed asylum in Britain in order to avoid being killed by Assad’s army. He gave no reason why he needed to be admitted to Great Britain, when millions of Syrian refugees from the civil war violence had found asylum in such nearby Muslim countries as Turkey and Lebanon. We know why Karam Majdi wanted to be granted asylum in the UK. He wanted all the benefits he generous welfare state provides to those who are granted asylum, including free housing, free medical care, free education, and weekly allowances for food, clothing, and other needs.
However, the Home Office rejected his application for asylum after disputing his claims to be from Syria.
Majdi had lied about being from Syria when he arrived in the UK, according to immigration authorities….
He wasn’t a very good liar. His Egyptian accent no doubt gave him away.
Majdi “refused to be open” about his alleged sexuality and told the court he previously had relationships with two men.
Strange that back in 2018, at his trial, he never once mentioned those so-called relationships with men, nor did he ever mention them to the prison authorities during his seven years behind bars. Nor has anyone, whether prisoner or prison guard, suggested he ever showed the slightest evidence of harboring homosexual desires, much less acting on them.
However, he could not provide any evidence for these relationships, claiming any photos or texts were lost after he misplaced his iPhone SIM card.
How convenient. The dog ate my homework. My SIM card has been lost.
No sooner was Majdi out of jail than he began to engage in criminal behavior, possessing cocaine as either a consumer, or a dealer, or both, and driving — how could he afford a car? — without a license.
This is Karam Majdi’s last desperate attempt not to be deported to Egypt, by claiming to be “bisexual.” He has not produced a shred of evidence to support this claim. And he will soon, one hopes, be forcibly flown back to his wretched life in Egypt. La commedia è finita.

Britain and (other?) European countries need to get rid of laws that prevent them from deporting criminals who’d have their lives endangered if returned to their countries of origin. It’s fine to have that consideration for innocent refugees, who have not broken any laws in their host countries. But once they do, they forfeit that right of consideration, and should be deported, regardless of whether the threats to their lives back home – real or imagined – can be legally proven

Why did he leave Egypt in the first place ? Because Egypt would not be an unsafe country for an Egyptian national, now, surely ?.
Could he possibly have left Egypt because he may have had raped a woman or a child of one of his muslim neighbors ? Did he possibly make it unsafe to stay there by his own actions ?
Why else would an undocumented Egyptian claim to be bisexual in order not to be sent home ?
Maybe this guy is just an “overall” rapist and he had to flee Egypt because of it…
