Despite being a majority-Muslim country, Burkina Faso is a declared secular state under its Transitional Charter. Its interim President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has ruled out Sharia law, and “has sharply escalated his confrontation with influential Muslim scholars,” declaring that “radical Islam” has no place in his country.
The country ranks 16th on the Open Doors USA Christian persecution World Watch List.
According to Christian Daily:
Burkina Faso’s military government appears to have strengthened its commitment to religious freedom and the country’s secular identity following the adoption of a new law regulating religious practice.
Traoré has also said: “They are coming back to implement Sharia here…Not one of them has learned a profession or trade.”
Here he gives insight into the priorities and backwardness of Sharia supremacists. Unlike what many in the West have been indoctrinated to believe, the Sharia extends far beyond its benign practices of prayer and giving to charity.
“Burkina Faso ruler Traore declares ‘battle’ against Muslim scholars,” New Arab, July 25, 2026:
Burkina Faso’s military ruler Ibrahim Traore has declared that “the battle has begun” against what he described as “radical Islam”, marking the latest escalation in a growing confrontation with influential Muslim scholars following the arrests of prominent imams and the passage of a controversial religious law.
Addressing Muslim scholars, Traore warned that those promoting what he characterised as extremist interpretations of Islam would face state action.
“If this is your Islam, we will fight it. Extremists must change. If they do not, the battle has begun,” he said.
He also defended the government’s Religious Freedoms Law, arguing that it reinforces Burkina Faso’s secular character, and warned that imams using sermons to spread “extremist” ideas could be suspended.
At the same time, he pledged state support for scholars advocating what he described as a peaceful interpretation of Islam, while accusing foreign powers of exploiting religion to destabilise the country.
The remarks come amid an increasingly strained relationship between the junta and sections of Burkina Faso’s Muslim community.
In late May, authorities arrested Imam Mohamed Ishaq Kindo, one of the country’s most prominent Sunni scholars, after he criticised the draft Religious Freedoms Law. Worshippers subsequently gathered to demand his release before authorities closed the largest Sunni mosque in the capital, Ouagadougou, citing public order concerns.
According to AFP, around 100 of Kindo’s supporters were transferred to a military camp for what officials described as “civic training”.
Kindo’s arrest followed the detention of Imam Mahmoud Barro in the city of Bobo-Dioulasso in mid-April under similar circumstances….

‘Radical Islam’.
Those are the words being used to distract us from the truth about Islam. There is no ‘radical Islam’. Islam is Islam. What would have us believe is that all the violence, death and sorry is caused by a ‘radical’ or ‘fringe’ element of Islamic believers. These people aren’t ‘radical’. In truth, they just being ‘orthodox’ and are only doing what the Quran and the hadith say to do. The Quran states that all Muslims must take part in ‘jihad’ in some way.
Qur’an (4:5) “Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward.” Allah distinguishes Muslims from one another based on their willingness to fight and die in Holy War. Non-violent Muslims will not receive the same reward as the Jihadis.
Qur’an (8: 15-16) “O ye who believe! when ye meet the Unbelievers in hostile array, never turn your backs to them. If any do turn his back to them on such a day – unless it be in a stratagem of war, or to retreat to a troop (of his own)- he draws on himself the wrath of Allah, and his abode is Hell,- an evil refuge (indeed)!” Not only does Muhammad lay down the principle that a Muslim can serve time in Hell, but they may find themselves there for neglecting to kill unbelievers when directed to do so.
These type of verses can be found throughout the Qur’an, if you want to look for them.
According to Muhammad, the only sure path to paradise is through Jihad.
Although Muslims are to face the Last Day, where their time in hell is to be determined (with sins weighed against good deeds) Muhammad laid down an exception for martyrs – those who are slain in the cause of Allah – at a time when he conveniently needed them.
In 2015, Jamaican cleric, Abdullah al-Faisal, told his followers that killing is the only sure way for sinning Muslims to avoid Hell: “Some people are so sinful, after living in Dar ul-Harb (the West) for many years, the only way they can go to Paradise is for them to die on the battlefield fighting for Allah. When you go to the battlefield and you kill the kuffar (non-Muslims), they shall take your place in the hellfire.”

All so true. Islam is truly a satanic death cult that Satan designed to brainwash its followers into thinking what they do is good when everything it really does is evil.

That’s good that Captain Traore is putting the stop on Radical Islam. However, there’s No such thing as a ‘Peaceful Interpretation of Islam’ and he is only fooling himself if he believes that this can be the case.

With the nation being muzzie majority, he’s between a rock and hard place so probably feels that he must endorse a *kinder* islime.
If he is a muzzlim perhaps he is like Zhudi jasser and thinks islime can be ‘kind.’
And it’s a good thing that he wants to keep full blown islime ways….beatings, stoning, amputations, etc. from becoming the law of the land.
There is no good in islime…not even a small bit of the tiniest inkling.

Islam destroys every country where it gains a foothold. We need to deport or convert all Muslims, all DSA members and all Communists. All are evil Political systems that brainwash their followers into believing they can win by conquest and live slovenly lives and still
Succeed.

Convert Muslims? And then have that pedo inbred gene pool in my country? No thanks my man, you keep the Muslims to yourself.

Some of the strongest Anti-Jihadists are ex-Muslims like Ayaan Hirsi Ali and artist Bosch Fawstin, author of Pigman, who worked with Robert Spencer here.
Your idea that pedophilia is a race is mistaken.

I wish this leader well even though the term “radical Islam” is a redundant term. I particularly wish well the some 25% of Burkina Faso which is Christian since being a Christian in many African nations comes with perils aplenty. And I will still be putting on hold for the time being my vacation plans to Ouagadougou.
James Lincoln says
The problem with the term “radical islam” implies that there is another kind of islam that is not radical.
The truth: there is only one islam.
It’s muslim followers range from MINO (muslim in name only) to very devout.
And islamic countries differ only in their degree of enforcement of sharia.
But there is only one sharia.

Those that we call ‘radical’ are being ‘orthodox’ in the way they follow Islam. They are just following what the Qur’an and hadith say they should do.
The idea of ‘radical Islam’ has always been about distraction to say that Islam is a ‘peaceful religion’ or cult.

Well, good. But my guess is that the main thing he doesn’t like about “radical Islam” is that it presents a threat to his government. This is not “radical Islam”. but orthodox Islam. Still, I wish him well.
