Another Islamophobe Is Spotted

This hate-filled clown dares to suggest that Islam is incompatible with Western values.

Oh, the Islamophobia! Haven’t we learned anything since Muslims were so cruelly victimized after a gaggle of misunderstanders of Islam hijacked the Religion of Peace on September 11, 2001? Haven’t we tired of the MAGA hat-wearing yahoos snatching the hijabs off meek, pious Muslim women who are simply trying to get through another hellish day in this racist, bigoted country? Haven’t we grown weary of the hate, the chauvinism, the prejudice, the lies that Islam is any more violent than Christianity, even as Christian nationalists threaten to destroy our freedoms and transform our green and pleasant land into a jackbooted fascist state complete with cross-wearing stormtroopers?

Apparently we have not. For recently, some nakedly defiant political undesirable, some right-wing remnant of the days when Bull Connor and George Corley Wallace stalked the earth, siccing their vicious, slavering German shepherds upon innocent schoolgirls, some Islamophobic stooge of the all-powerful forces of hatred and division, dared to suggest that Muslims should not see themselves as belonging to the “Western civilizational project.”

This knuckle-dragging hatemonger, high out of his skull on ignorance and bigotry, claimed that Islam was its own “civilizational project,” and that this meant not only that Muslims should reject Western civilization, but should see it as an alien enemy.

The fascist white supremacist, according to MEMRI, “elaborated that Islam is not merely in a ‘parallel’ category, but must define Muslims’ religion, nation, politics, and ‘everything’ about them.” Not content with playing into the worst and most paranoid claims of Islamophobes in the U.S. and around the globe, he went on to assert that Islam is “totally exclusive and hegemonic over every aspect of your life,” and that this put it into opposition to Western values, as “Western culture originates from the Enlightenment and Christendom. Therefore, he said, there is ‘no reason’ for the Islamic world of ideas and the Western world of ideas to coincide, even for Muslims who live in the West.”

Now, as you may already have guessed, all of the above is sarcastic, although the quotations from the alleged Islamophobe and MEMRI’s descriptions of his statements are altogether accurate. The “Islamophobe” is an Islamic scholar and “content creator” named Abu Ibrahim, who currently, despite his disdain for and open opposition to Western civilization, lives in Canada.

Abu Ibrahim is forthright about the nature of Islamic law and its contradictions with Western values in a way that should make non-Muslim leftists in the West nervous. After all, they have insisted for decades now that Islam is completely and entirely benign and compatible with Western pluralistic societies, and that only venomous “Islamophobes” would dare to suggest otherwise.

Islamic jihad terrorism? That’s merely a reaction to Western colonialism and imperialism, and is entirely the fault of the non-Muslim West. If we would simply cease our aid to Israel and adventurism in the Middle East, it would cease.

That’s the leftist line, anyway, and many patriots hold to variants of it as well. Yet here is a Muslim saying essentially the same thing that people have been excoriated “racists” and “Islamophobes” for saying. Is Abu Ibrahim racist and “Islamophobic”?

Also, why do Western countries feel any obligation to welcome and shelter those who believe that their “civilizational project” is wrong in itself and should be rejected? Abu Ibrahim isn’t in Canada as a grateful refugee, much less as an immigrant who understands that he has an obligation to his gracious hosts to assimilate and adopt the values of his new land.

If anything, Abu Ibrahim, and many others like him, are in the West in order to make it over, and to replace its values, derived from, as he says, Christianity and the Enlightenment, with the values of Islam. Allah promises a reward to those who engage in such an endeavor: “Whoever emigrates for the sake of Allah will find much refuge and abundance in the earth, and whoever forsakes his home, a refugee for Allah and his messenger, and death overtakes him, his reward is then obligatory upon Allah. Allah is always forgiving, merciful.” (Qur’an 4:100)

Emigrating for the sake of Allah means bringing Islam to the new land. Yet no European or North American authorities have ever shown any public indication of being aware that some Muslim migrants come with this agenda. Abu Ibrahim is talking to Muslims only, and many will heed his words. But will Canadian authorities do so? Not a chance.
