The president turns on his ally to attain a false peace.

Trump himself announced the betrayal on Monday:

I had a conversation with Bibi Netanyahu today, asking him not to go into a major raid of Beirut, Lebanon. He turned his Troops around. Thank you Bibi! I also had a conversation with Representatives of the Leaders of Hezbollah, and they agreed to stop shooting at Israel, and its soldiers. Likewise, Israel agreed to stop shooting at them. Let’s see how long that lasts — Hopefully it will be for ETERNITY! President DONALD J. TRUMP

This followed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s insistence that the ceasefire include Israel’s defensive actions against Hizballah. When Hizballah fired rockets into Israel anyway, which it almost certainly did upon orders from Tehran, since the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps created Hizballah and still operates it today, the Iranians broke off the negotiations that Trump wants so desperately.

In response, the president should have told the world that the Iranian government was not operating in good faith, and resumed military operations (no, not American boots on the ground) with the intention of weakening the Islamic Republic so that the long-suffering people of Iran can finally overthrow it. Instead, he turned against his own ally, Israel, ordering it to stop actions against Hizballah (which did not,  by the way, include a raid against Beirut) and, by his own account, having a “conversation” with a jihad terror group, in which they agreed, by what inducement he does not say, to stop doing what they were created to do, and which is their sole purpose in existing.

It’s easy to see why Trump has done this. Gas prices are already high, and if the war drags on as it has been doing, it will become an albatross around the necks of Republicans who are running in the midterms. And so Trump has ended it, but the ending leaves us even worse off than we were at the start. Before the conflict started, the Islamic Republic of Iran was a rogue regime that threatened the very existence of a sovereign state, and had repeatedly announced its unshakably hostile stance toward the United States while enriching uranium to just below weapons-grade level, far beyond what is needed for any civilian use.

After this conflict, all that is still true. Iran is weaker than it was before, but the Islamic regime is still in place, and now it can and will crow that it has outlasted the global superpower and bested the mighty Trump, who had up to this point given the impression that he was determined to restore America’s strength on the global stage. But now, Trump’s incessant announcements of impending doom and drawing of red lines which the Iranians then instantly crossed, and his hostility to Israel and endless accommodation of Tehran, makes the president look weak and indecisive, and even ridiculous.

Patriots used to mock Barack Obama for drawing red lines in Syria that would immediately be crossed, followed by the drawing of a new red line. Now Trump has made Barack Obama look like a strong leader. None of America’s war aims against Iran have been attained or will be attained. The Iranian leadership still has its nuclear material. It is still screaming “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.” The can has been kicked down the road yet again, and it will be up to a future president to deal with the threat of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Given Trump’s actions, that future president will likely be a Democrat who will solve the Iranian problem the way Obama and Old Joe Biden did, by sending a few billion dollars over to Tehran and hoping the money will keep the mullahs quiet until the next president is in office.

Trump himself takes umbrage at this negative talk. On Monday night, he wrote:

If Iran surrenders, admits their Navy is gone and resting at the bottom of the sea, and their Air Force is no longer with us, and if their entire Military walks out of Tehran, weapons dropped and hands held high, each shouting “I surrender, I surrender” while wildly waving the representative White Flag, and if their entire remaining Leadership signs all necessary “Documents of Surrender,” and admit their defeat to the great power and force of the magnificent U.S.A., The Failing New York Times, The China Street Journal (WSJ!), Corrupt and now Irrelevant CNN, and all other members of the Fake News Media, will headline that Iran had a Masterful and Brilliant Victory over The United States of America, it wasn’t even close. The Dumacrats and Media have totally lost their way. They have gone absolutely CRAZY!!! President DJT

Right. But Iran has not surrendered. The Islamic Republic is not going to surrender. No “Documents of Surrender” have been signed, or will be signed. Instead, the Islamic Republic has survived, and that was all it needed to do in order to claim victory. It will wage jihad again against both the U.S. and Israel. One  man has enabled the Islamic Republic to survive. The Iranian leaders should erect a statue of him in Tehran. That man is Donald J. Trump.

    • We just need to de nuclearize Iran. That’s it. I trust Trump and Netanyahu will get that part right. They are strong leaders, probably the best of our generation. There are no magic buttons to win a war. The reality on the ground is very difficult for America and Israel.

      Israeli soldiers are in big trouble I. Lebanon right now at night time. Hezbollah horde has a new nighttime weapon that is sowing chaos. Those are somebody’s children, 18 19 years old.

I feel as I do every day and today in some new keener way – the fear I had since the day a couple of months ago or less when Trump first made that decision NOT to go ahead and attack when we all thought he was seeming ready to do so. I wrote on that day: “Did Trump just lose the war?”
    And I feel a searing heat and fire on my skin and from within my organs of sadness and rage for the boys and girls who were murdered as they gave their very lives for this fights against Nazi-Arab barbarism.
    May Heaven forgive us.
    No “peace in our time.”

    • The assets were not in position at the time of the uprising, if that’s what you mean. We could have hit them but not that hard as we did when we did.

      Israel on the other hand was ready to go. Israel is always ready.

  6. I am not fond of quoting Mrs. Clinton, but she did note that “hope is not a strategy.” As with many quotes attributed to her, she is not the progenitor. More accurately, as attributed to James Cameron, “Hope is not a strategy, luck is not a factor, fear is not an option.” Mr. Trump, please take heed when dealing with Iran or its proxies.

  7. President Trump has to stop with negotiation after negotiation. Drawing lines in the sand over and over. Islam only understands force. Force must be used. The West must face reality and defend itself. The longer the West keeps stepping back, then the deeper the hole the West will be digging itself out from.

  8. Iran is not going to surrender. End of story. Regime change failed. End of story. Iran can keep the Strait of Hormuz closed for as long as they like. End of story.

    Trump has two options: 1. Nuke Iran, which will lead to WW3 2. Get the hell out of there. He has lost either way, I prefer option 2.

    There are going to be food shortages next year due to the reduced crop this is going to cause with the lack of fertilizer. All those ships just sitting there cannot be moved out at once, plus they are going to need divers to clean the seaweed & barnacles off them before they move. There is going to be a world wide economic crash because of this. The only country in the world who wants this war to continue is Israel. Is it sinking in yet what a disaster this war has been?

    • You totally understand the reality on the ground. This is all true. People think Trump is holding back some magic powers or that he is weak or attacking Israel. That is so foolish. Iran has USA and the world by the balls, but not Israel.

      It is time to make a deal. But you have to wonder, these Iranians are playing games in negotiations. It’s not that simple. They want to keep nuclear and cheat. That’s the issue. They hold all the cards. We have one card left. To destroy their infrastructure, which will be a decade long shut down of the Hormuz.

      People think there’s some magic regime change button trump is not pushing lol. Or what about the magic “me win war” button. No the world don’t work like that. War is hard to win, the smaller nations win 90 percent of the time. It is not easy.

      I won’t sit here and pretend I didn’t support this, I did. And so what. I did and it didn’t work it was worth a shot. Hopefully we can get the nuclear surrender. That’s good enough for me. I don’t care about Israel and Irans missile stockpile. I care about here.

        Iran is far away. And nothing really Israel can do but bomb here and there. They don’t have the aerial refueling to do serious work.

        Also very dangerous for Israeli cities. Iran wiped out American radars, worth billions, that provide early warning.

        They’ve also fought Hezbollah, in a 20 year ground invasion. And were forced to retreat. The same result will happen now.

        Best is to make a deal. Israeli equipment is at threat of exhaustion.

        That is patently false. We saw it in October 2024 during Biden, when Israel sent hundreds of bombers into Iran and decimated their air forces. In February 28th this year, it was Israeli bombers that destroyed Khamenei’s hideout and killed him. As outgoing/former DNI Director Tulsi Gabbard pointed out, while the job of the US troops there remains to destroy the islamic regime’s military capabilities, Israel’s mission was completely different – decimating the instruments of the regime itself, including the IRGC and Basij. In fact, the US and Israel have almost mutually exclusive targets

        The only reason Israel “struggles” against Hamas is that they fight w/ one hand tied behind their back: they go out of their way to not hurt “civilians”, in order to appease the “international community”, whatever that is. Same w/ Hizbullah. If Israel fought wars using the ethical standards of, say, the Russians, they’d have leveled Gaza, Tyre, Sidon, Dahiya, Ramallah, Sana’a in a day and sent those pilots to India for R&R

        I do think there are limits to Israeli power: if the Egyptians got involved and decided to start a war. They’ve been arming themselves to the teeth since the 80s and never fought a war. The original pretext was to protect them in the 80s from Col Gadaffi, but today, Field Marshall Haftar is their ally: they have nothing to fear from Libya. So if an Israel-Egypt war breaks out, started by Egypt, I do fear for Israel

        But other than that, Israel is the region’s superpower, despite having to fight by Marquess of Queensbury rules

        • None of these accomplishments are really worth anything for Israel but more trouble.

          Neither America or Israel can get the job done to keep Israel and the allies safe. That is to knock out the under ground storage sites and destroy them. Not DISABLE, destroy.

          Killing the leaders, I will not pretend I didn’t support this. I also thought the results would be much better than what they are. But the results were probably worse than if we went to war and let them live. IRGC terrorists with nothing to lose took over. They die , another one comes and takes the place.

          Israel must accept realty. They simply will not be safe for the next decade. These missiles and drone bases are going nowhere. Just accept a good de nuclear deal.

        • There is only one way out of this mess that trump thwarted. It may or may not be too late to do this again, regime change. Nukes is not the problem but who controls them.
          Pakistan has nukes that can reach Israel now if programed that direction. If crown prince Pahlavi starts a government, why can’t he have nukes? He. May not want them but it’s not relevant. The Islamic regime must fall and the problem is over if Pahlavi is in charge at least for a new govt setup. By day 12, Israel switched focus to just pound the IRGC to aid the people to topple the regime in a few weeks with air support. Trump said stop to save the regime.ruling junta families by day 12 were starting to leave, signalling the regime was going to fall. Hamas was almost done and trump said stop. Then trump had a big gathering in sharm El sheikh in Sinai. It was very symbolic as trumps message was end war and do peace. That sounds nice but there was the other sinister message. How did Egypt get sharm back from Israel ? Not by war but by peace. The message is by peace shrink down Israel and attack later.
          Another trump message was the board of peace new Gaza govt initial headquarters was in Kiryat Gat. Gat is where David slew Goliath of Gaza at Gat. David was the victor at Gat but this made Goliath the victor this time. Symbols tell much.
          I believe trump made his deal with the devil and all the devils minions. I think trump is humanity’s greatest most deceptive enemy since a garden in Eden. With horrid characters like Biden, Obama, etc opposing trump is how people fooled that he is good.
          I admit I follow a different bible interpretation and am post trib pre wrath resurrection of the dead (rapture) with no 7 year tribulation but just 42 months of great trib. I do not see Russia invading Israel. I see the He goat from the west or NATO backing turkey, Iran etc to invade. Will america be part of NATO then is unknown.
          I know that a free Iran with the Cyrus accords can derail and replace the Abraham accords, a direct threat to trumps goals. I trust Pahlavi almost as only one thing bothers me. Certain people make hand pyramids. It’s satanic. They are trump as the master hand pyramid maker. There is also kushner, trump jr, witkoff, tom barrack, president sissi of Egypt and president Aoun of Lebanon. Pahlavi does not do this but did for his official portrait and that’s unsettling.
          The only peace in this all is it’s going the way God planned for his purposes.

  9. I no longer respect this man: his interlocutors (in this case Israel, but in other cases, others like Taiwan, India, et al) should lie to him but just continue going about their business. The only thing he knows to do is tariff but SCOTUS (wrongly, IMHO) has put the kabash on that, so he can no longer do that

    On one hand, 2028 can’t come soon enough. Otoh, I have no idea what a President JD Vance would be, but even aside from that, the MAGA movement is now fractured on this issue, which could give us our first hijab-wearing President AOC, which would be even worse for Israel than Biden was, since I can actually see her enthusiastically declaring war on Israel

    • Both of you are wrong. After Starmer’s pushback on UK bases being used, Trump indicated that the special relationship b/w UK & US was a thing of the past. Hardly indicative of someone who takes marching orders from Whitehall

      Similarly, if he was there at the beck & call of Israel (whose capital is Jerusalem, David M, not Tel Aviv), then Israel wouldn’t be getting orders to stop bombing Lebanon or Beirut or anywhere else. They’d still be conducting this war, and Trump wouldn’t be telling them a thing

In other words, it would be a “peace agreement.” that is would be bogus, a false peace, because it would be based on ta foundation of sand. It would be completely worthless, with no value mat all.

    For in strategic manual of military wisdom instructs, “We cannot enter into an alliance with neighboring princes until we are acquainted with their designs.” To rephrase and update this information for this current situation in the Middle East with those lying dictators of Iran. It may be actually said, “We cannot enter into a genuine peace agreement alliance with those still in power in that Islamic regime until we know the schemes of their real intentions.”It really should be more than obvious that the designs /schemes of those fiendish villains are.

    Therefore, it’s amazing how President Trump can be so very naive as to think that he might be able to come to some of “deal” of any worth with those disingenuous and outright lying despots of that diabolical “mullah regime’ of Iran . They their fiendish treachery, are liars and will have no intention of keeping of the promises that they might make.. In other words, any agreement they sign their names to wouldn’t be worth the paper it’s written on . It would be a farce and hoax of a deal , Trump should know better than to trust them, in any way..

  18. Trump has let everyone down and his disgraceful foul mouthed rant at Bibi shows just how egotistical he is. Bibi meanwhile has shown himself a man of dignity and grace. I would say to him: “Ignore Trump, he’s lost it, go for Iran til it can’t harm anyone else with its Hellish hatred”.
