The Southern Poverty Law Center’s Criminality, Hate and CAIR Connections Are Evident in Canada Too

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is corrupt to the core, yet so far, despite a series of extraordinarily damaging revelations, keeps its doors open. What many are unaware of is the fact that it has replicated itself north of the American border, in Canada, with the organization the Anti-Hate Network mirroring its mission. Some of the latest updates are significant for Canada as well as the U.S.

For years, the Southern Poverty Law Center has been the gold standard that Democrat politicians and prominent leftist organizations upheld in trust, assuming its assessments of individuals and groups was correct and unimpeachable. Now, however, the U.S. Department of Justice has just filed a superseding indictment alleging that a former SPLC official directed more than $1 million in donor funds to her lover, “a neo-Nazi informant with whom she was romantically involved.” That woman is Heidi Beirich — former director of the SPLC’s Intelligence Project and a co-founder of the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism. While receiving SPLC donor funds, Beirich’s lover allegedly fundraised for the neo-Nazi group, National Alliance, and helped it “carry out its extremist activities.” In turn, the lover “apparently gave the SPLC some return on their investment.” This is where it turns uglier. According to The Blaze, William White Williams, National Alliance’s chairman, stated: “I knew it was that fat, ugly hog Heidi Beirich…..I think some of those cluckers wanted to get out of the movement, and they went to the SPLC for help. But instead of helping them, [the SPLC] said, ‘Why don’t you stay in and get paid?’”

On a personal note, I was a Harper-era Canadian government appointee. Here’s an excerpt from a Toronto Star article that included Beirich, discussing how the Trudeau government fired me as a Governor in Council appointee: “Board member of anti-racism agency fired amid accusations of Islamophobic commentary,” Toronto Star, December 21, 2017:

…Extremism researchers like Amarasingam say Jihad Watch is one of the leading platforms in the “counter jihad” movement, which has been described as a loose international network based on the belief that Islam is at war with the West and Muslim immigration is a conscious effort to spread Sharia law. “For a lot of commentators on the site, the only way for a Muslim to be less violent is to be less Muslim,” he says. “The common assumption of most writers on the site is that Muslims are secretly planning a takeover of the Western countries through a slow erosion of western culture. This is why they also have pretty wild views against immigration and letting refugees into Western countries.”

Heidi Beirich, director of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Project, said Douglass-Williams has been “on the anti-Muslim circuit for some time” and has written hundreds of articles for Jihad Watch since 2012….

Heidi Beirich, a disgraceful woman who judged me and Jihad Watch — an organization that defends victims of jihad and victims of Islamic supremacy — could now face justice. The accusation against Beirich is part of the U.S. Department of Justice indictment against the SPLC, accusing it of funneling over $3 million to members of white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups. This total includes raising millions of dollars to secretly pay leaders of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) and other hate groups for inside information. And so, the SPLC is charged with “11 counts of wire fraud, false statements to a federally insured bank, and conspiracy to commit concealment money laundering.”

It should come as no surprise that the unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas funding case, the Council on American Islamic Relations, stood “in solidarity with the SPLC” and condemned the April DOJ indictment as an “attack on rule of law.” CAIR has been declared a terrorist entity in the states of Texas and Florida.

Likewise in Canada, CAIR-CAN (an offshoot of CAIR), which changed its name to the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) for better branding, collaborates with the SPLC’s northern sister group, the Anti-Hate Network. Bernie Farber who is Jewish, is the Anti-Hate Network’s co-founder and founding chair emeritus. Farber has used stories of the Holocaust to highlight himself as a Jewish authority on “hate” as he pursues his DEI objectives in collaboration with the NCCM. In so doing, he has compared “Islamophobia” to antisemitism.

Following the April DOJ indictment, JUNO news in Canada uncovered the fact that the SPLC helped kickstart Bernie Farber’s Anti-Hate Network. See the JUNO article, “Canadian Anti-Hate Network followed criminally-charged SPLC’s blueprint.” The Network was deemed Canada’s own version of the SPLC smear group. Even the CBC noted that the Anti-Hate Network “takes its inspiration from the Southern Poverty Law Center in the U.S., which tracks hate groups south of the border in a ‘hate map’ and through a blog called ‘hate watch.’”

The Anti-Hate Network has bled taxpayers of funds to drive its radical left agenda, even in schools, while targeting anyone as an “Islamophobe” who warned about Canada’s jihad problem. In fact, in 2022, the Department of Heritage, together with the Anti-Hate Network, launched its “tool-kit” for kids. It was a shocking booklet entitled Confronting and Preventing Hate in Canadian Schools. Slated for government distribution all across Canada, the “tool-kit” was nothing more than a step toward turning publicly-funded schools into leftist indoctrination camps. It openly warned against Canada’s Conservative Party, as well as against Donald Trump and against the freedom of speech itself. You can read the “tool-kit” HERE.

Meanwhile, in 2025, the Liberals paid over $128,000 to monitor social media posts of pro-Israel Canadians. Where was the government and its Anti-Hate Network cronies when government-funded Muslim senior consultant Laith Marouf posted on social media: “Life is too short for shoes with laces, or for entertaining Jewish White Supremacists with anything but a bullet to the head”?

Yet Canada is now faced with the likes of “white supremacist hunters” Amarnath Amarasingam, also of the Anti-Hate Network, and Farber joining forces with the government of Canada as it reconvenes an “expert advisory group on online safety” — its handpicked speech police, who will launch its fascist spying tactics on Canadians for online speech that offends the red-green alliance and DEI cultists. A similar modus operandi to that of the SPLC.

The SPLC, as well as its Canadian counterpart, the Anti-Hate Network, has existed to demonize the right, and did so with roaring success, because hate-filled leftists believed this scam of an organization. Take the following Jihad Watch headlines as just a few examples:

Key revelations about the SPLC were not enough to budge the moral compasses of those who counted on the SPLC as their gold standard in determining “hate,” including black leftists who supported the SPLC while it collaborated with KKK and established a “systemic culture of racism and sexism” within. The SPLC worked closely with the Biden administration to take down the right. According to testimony before the Committee on the Judiciary United States House of Representatives in May: “Despite the SPLC’s many scandals, President Joe Biden’s administration welcomed this morally bankrupt smear factory with open arms.”

In 2023, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley  and Oklahoma Senator James Lankford demanded that the FBI stop using biased non-profits as sources for their investigations, with particular reference to the SPLC.

The Family Research Council is now demanding restitution from the SPLC after the DOJ’s indictment of the Center in April. It argues that the group’s “’hate map’ helped inspire the 2012 terror attack on its D.C. headquarters.”

It is high time that other groups and organizations also launch lawsuits against the corrupt SPLC. At least those groups that have any money left after the SPLC smeared them should do so.
