It is difficult for leaders of Western countries who are embracing the Palestinian Authority (PA) to accept the fact that Palestinian leaders and jihadis both fully understand and grasp what they’re doing. It’s also difficult to accept that either group has no idea what it is doing in an age where information is at anyone’s fingertips. Now the PA is boasting that most Palestinian jihad terrorists are from its ruling party, Fatah. Yet in the minds of many in the State Department establishment, only Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad are terrorists, while the Palestinian Authority and Fatah are moderates.
“Palestinian Authority boasts: Most terrorists ‘are Fatah members,’” by Ephraim D. Tepler and Itamar Marcus, Palestinian Media Watch, June 25, 2026:
The Palestinian Authority is once again boasting that most Palestinian terrorists are from its ruling party, Fatah, with the district governor of Jericho announcing on PA TV that the numbers stand at 85%. He continued by proudly noting that “most Martyrs…in the struggle against the criminals”—criminals being his term for Israelis—are also Fatah members. The PA TV host enthusiastically chimed in that terrorist Martyrs “are more honorable than all of us together,” and Hamayel echoed the sentiment without hesitation.
Jericho District Governor Hussein Hamayel: “Today, 85% of the prisoners (i.e., terrorists) are Fatah members… Most Martyrs who ascended to Heaven … in the struggle against the criminals (i.e., Israelis) are Fatah members… This does not mean that a Martyr from Fatah is different than a Martyr from other [factions].”
Official PA TV host: “They are more honorable than all of us together.”
Hamayel: “The Martyrs are more honorable than all of us together.”
[Official PA TV, June 13, 2026]
There is more to Hamayel’s gloating than pride, however. It is also a designed political statement. To understand it, one must understand the PA’s precarious political position.
Bragging rights in a terror competition….
To understand the relationship between Fatah and the PA: Fatah is the most powerful faction in The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and the PLO established the Palestinian Authority. Fatah is also the ruling political party of the Palestinian Authority and it maintains strict top-down control over PA institutions.
Fatah and the PA share one leader, Mahmoud Abbas. Abbas serves as the Chairman of Fatah and the President of the Palestinian Authority. With that understood, the PA and Fatah are the same entity ideologically and both are also jihadist entities.
While the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is legally designated as an outlawed terrorist organization, the the PA is not, despite its establishment by the PLO.
So now it should come as no surprise that the PA, which instituted a ‘pay-for-slay’ program (its monetary reward system for ‘martyrs’ and their families for the murder of Israelis) is boasting that its political faction are terrorists.
Recall in Canada, a current declaration on the Canadian government website states that “Canada enjoys positive relations with the Palestinian Authority (PA), the governmental entity in Palestine.”
Does anyone see anything wrong with this picture? Yet its Prime Minister Carney condemns antisemitism. There’s a reason why Israeli ambassador to Canada, Iddo Moed, characterized Canada as “one of the centres of antisemitism globally.” Jihadists everywhere have taken note of Canada’s “positive relations” with the PA. It has made itself the perfect soil for the “globalize the intifada”movement.

They are right. Fatah is no less a threat to average Israelis than Hamas is

They are all jihadists as is Iran. President Trump is following a dangerous path with close relations with Qatar as well, the home of the Muslim Brotherhood.
It is a betrayal of the West.
