NC high school principal shuts down Muslim valedictorian’s anti-ICE, ‘pro-Palestine’ unscripted speech

Not even students and their families on graduation day could be assured of some peace away from the Palestinian “cause” and woke insanity…

And unsurprisingly, the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) came out in support of Hijaz:

The Muslim valedictorian also had support from afar, from her home country of Lebanon:

Disruption and confrontation in many forms, no matter where and how inappropriate, are part of the “globalize the intifada” movement.

A high school valedictorian was cut off while delivering a speech at graduation, and video of the incident has been widely shared online as a familiar scene played out: a school’s attempt to silence a speaker’s unplanned message actually amplified it across the nation.

Video of Clayton High School valedictorian Leen Hijaz in Johnston County, North Carolina, just outside Raleigh, shows her wrapping up her speech with a message about her peers and onlookers using their voices.

“Before I leave the stage, I have one last thing to say. Every single person here has a voice, and we are privileged to have the freedom to use it when so many people around the world are struggling and suffering to be heard,” Hijaz said.

“Whether it’s the millions suffering in Palestine, Sudan, Congo, Afghanistan and so many other countries around the world, or the families being torn apart by (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), these are not distant issues. They are happening right now as I speak,” she said as cheers and applause could be heard from the audience. “My point is, we’re not given a voice to stay silent.”

At that point, a school official approached the podium and appeared to say something to Hijaz while guiding her away from the microphone. The official was Clayton High School Principal Melissa Moore Hubbard, reported local station WNCN.

Hijaz said in a post on social media and in comments to local news outlets she was “threatened” with the withholding of her diploma. Johnston County Public Schools didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

The school district told WNCN in a statement that Hijaz’s speech, which was a welcome message at the ceremony, departed from her approved remarks prepared in advance.

    Indeed, all these are due to Islamic tyranny and destruction of others. ALL of it… All of it, and worst of all is the inversion of the source and blaming it on others, with no accountability whatsoever. Oh, the immigration thing- yes- notice how all those immigrants who’ve degraded Europe and the US are from Muslim nations that demand the right to go emigrate. Indeed, I think the speech should be evaluated for it’s precise meaning, it’s errant conclusions and lack of responsible discussion afforded by those progressives who complain about the speech being cut off but who never allow for hard dollars and cents in depth analysis.

  4. For quite a long time the left in the USA have shouted down, drowned out, mobbed, murdered, forced cancellations of speakers, with the express desire to prevent them from sharing their opinions.     As a parent whose children attended San Juan Unified schools in Northern California, I was stunned to learn that between 2022 and 2024, the district accepted nearly $360,000 from the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

    This was not a small donation quietly placed into a general education fund. An investigative report by Defending Education found that the district’s relationship with CAIR appears to have included memoranda of understanding, ongoing communication with district staff, and programs connected to students.

    “In one of numerous emails between CAIR and the school district cited in the report, CAIR representatives told district officials they had launched a six-week leadership development program at Starr King K-8 and hoped to expand it to other schools through a memorandum of understanding with the district.
    The report also raises concerns about student privacy. According to documents cited in the report, CAIR requested student names, and district personnel provided them. San Juan Unified’s own website states: “San Juan Unified does not collect or share information about a student’s or family’s immigration status. Student records are protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and are only released with a valid court order or subpoena.”

  6. I saw a headline on this story, but didn’t read the article.
    However, the headline on the msn said nothing about the student being a muzzie, nor about what she said that got her speech cut short.

    Headlines are for luring in readers and the writer may not get to the point raised until the very end. Some never do get to the point of the lure.

    These students are seeds to get the ideas into the heads of the young who have no clue about the Truth of what is going on in the world. Plant a lie from the mouth of someone other students see as a ‘friend” who wouldn’t lie and the seeds grow.

    It’s good that she was shut down. Those graduation things are no place for politics, but esp the lies of politics. She’s full of hatred and the other students need protection from her and others like her.

  7. Well, she lied about her committment to give the pre-approved speech she had submitted to infidel officials of the school. That is very Islamic. Now there is a dishonest Valedictorian who will go on to a University which might review any offered scholarships and wonder if she can be trusted.

    Being Valedictorian does not give some license to deprive the graduates of uplifting messages for their own futures and aspirations. This was to be a time to celebrate, with parents, relatives, and school officials their passing through a major landmark of their lives. Instead it was filled with hatred by a social infant whose narcissistic rant became more important to her than all the attendees.

    Brilliance without wisdom can be unintentionally evil or destructive. Like shouting fire in an assembly this was not an excercise in free speech. It was intended to shock and divide. Her rant, unrelated to graduation, was like a rude interrupting advertisement on YouTube – “Stop What you’re doing right now!”

    There are venues where airing your personal views against certain human groups is tolerated – holding attendees hostage at graduation is not one of them.
