The Jews of France are not “an arrogant minority.” It is the Muslims who are arrogant, who pocket every possible benefit that the French welfare state provides, and instead of exhibiting gratitude, regard those benefits as their due, a kind of proleptic jizyah that the non-Muslims owe them as by right. The Muslims are convinced that, as the Qur’an says, they are “the best of peoples” and non-Muslims “the most vile of created beings.” Jews are instead now a fearful and tiny minority, less than 1% of the French population, and they wonder if they still have a future in France, given the inexorable rise in the country’s Muslim population. There has been a steady increase in the number of Jews leaving France and making aliyah to Israel.
In the wake of the Oct. 7 atrocities, Mélenchon and his party also issued a statement declaring the attacks “an armed offensive of Palestinian forces” as a result of continued Israeli “occupation.”…
Mélenchon and La France Insoumise did not denounce, but justified, the atrocities carried out by Hamas on Oct. 7. They were, he and his party claimed, only reacting to “occupation.” Every last Israeli had pulled out of Gaza in 2005. There was no “occupation” of Gaza. Mélenchon had not a word to say about the nature of the Hamas attacks. He described the assault on Israeli men, women, and children as an “armed offensive” — as if it were a legitimate military operation. But it was not. It was a slaughterhouse, with babies who were stabbed to death or had their heads smashed in, families who were forced to perform sex acts with one another before being murdered, girls who were gang-raped and then repeatedly stabbed in in their vaginas before they were murdered, women with their breasts sliced off, men whose genitalia were sliced off and shoved into their mouths, and both men and women who had their eyes gouged out. And that is only part of what happened that day in Israel. But none of that appears to have made the slightest impression on Jean-Luc Mélenchon, with his incantatory speeches, aggressive, marcissistic, demagoguish, that always manage to include criticism of the Jewish state and the Jewish people, speeches that remind some of Adolf Hitler.
Over the past 25 years, antisemitic acts “have never been as numerous as in the past three years,” the report said, noting a dramatic spike following the Hamas-led Oct. 7 attack.
But Jean-Luc Melenchon “knows” that there is very little overt antisemitism — please don’t try to fool him with facts — and that it is the Muslims who are the ones truly oppressed. He is sick of “those Jews” who are always feeling sorry for themselves — get over the Holocaust, will you? — when it’s the Muslims who are truly oppressed, the Muslims who have been made to feel unwelcome in France.
And Jean-Luc wants his rapt audiences to remember this about the Jewish community in France: “an arrogant minority that lectures to the rest.”
Jean-Luc Mélenchon is a wicked and a dangerous man. He’s an antisemite. He’s a conspiracy theorist. He believes that malignant forces wanting to make Muslims look bad have deliberately staged the Muslim attacks in France. Whom do you think he has in mind? When Mohammed Merah murdered three little Jewish children and the rabbi who was the father of two of them, just outside a Jewish school in Toulouse, Mélenchon was sure someone else was behind the murders, because they took place just before elections. And, in Mélenchon’s view, such murders naturally helped the candidacy of the center-right Macron. He also linked a Muslim’s killing of a French gendarme on the Champs-Elysées in 2017 to a political plot; according to Mélenchon, this killing also was “suspiciously timed” just before an election.

Oh no. It took the Germans a little over a month to take France in 1940. In that fight France had a larger mobilized force (5 million) than the German attackers (3.3 million). In comparison, historians estimate that over 1 million Allied troops were involved in operations in France during the liberation phase, with hundreds of thousands engaged directly in the ground campaigns from June 1944 to May 1945.
Back in the day Jean-Luc would have been a nazi collaborator. When the Allies liberated France collaborators were dealt with. When someone came upon women having their heads shaved and asked, what is going on, a Frenchman was heard to answer, they collaborated with the nazis. They are lucky, the men were shot.

As of 2026 the size of the French military is 264,000 active military personnel with 43,000 reserve personnel. France also has 155,000 National Gendarmerie but from what I have read about them they wouldn’t be much help.

That is true but the Germans had a significant technological edge in equipment. Equipment such as tanks artillery and aircraft. Using a modern comparison of the two, Poland was dial up while Germany was broadband. Hitlers Generals thought that Germany wouldn’t achieve full readiness until 1942 or 1943. Hitler over rode them and the rest is history. Had Hitler listened to his Generals things might have turned out different.

I don’t like to be result oriented. You have to judge historical decisions with what they had available.
Invading the Soviet Union was not a bad decision based on available facts. If you know you know what I mean. About the Soviet officer corps, the flawed intelligence on Soviet industry etc etc. that’s what they had available for knowledge.
But yea, Hitler should have hunkered down in fortress Europa, and gone all in on synthetic rubber synthetic fuel. He would have been totally fine because he was only at war with Britain, not a threat at all to invade and do any damage. He would have got a peace deal eventually. THEN you invade the Soviet Union. I’m sure in that case Churchill would be totally fine with Stalin wiped off the map!
