BREAKING: Iranian state media says it has now “no choice but to obtain the atomic bomb” to remove “the military option for the occupation and partitioning of Iran” from the table, arguing Iran must “absolutely reach nuclear deterrence” before current negotiations can be conducted…
— The Hormuz Letter (@HormuzLetter) June 28, 2026
They’ve been working toward it all along. Otherwise they never would have enriched uranium to just below weapons-grade level, far beyond what is needed for any civilian purpose. Nevertheless, they lied to the U.S. and the IAEA for years about a nonexistent fatwa from the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei forbidding nuclear weapons, and now they’re trying to frighten Trump into making yet more concessions and sealing his surrender. They would never be talking this way if they weren’t emboldened, and Trump, with his jaw-dropping concessions and endless drawing of meaningless red lines, is the one who has emboldened them.
somehistory says
When they are threatening, it’s the only time muzzlims tell the Truth.
iran has wanted the ‘bomb’ all along.
They have gotten help from russia, and turkey; they have stolen from downed aircraft. .because they are focused on the destruction of Israel; and any nation friendly to the Jews.
Ezekiel 38-39 foretold the war upon Israel from ‘the hordes out of the North.’ The ancient lands which are now russia, turkey and iran. along with their allies. such as syria….the same name as the ancient one.

By the day, Trump is looking worse and worse. I hate saying this but I presently have no choice. Perhaps, just perhaps, Trump is setting up the hideous and evil regime in Iran for its termination but I don’t see this any longer. No I do not. Most definitely want to be wrong here.
OLD GUY says
My fear is that these Iran leaders will purchase the Atomic bomb from one of their business and supporting countries. The only answer is destruction of the radical leaders.
Taffy says
60% U-235 is not “weapons grade” if you define “weapons grade” at 90% or more. But it will make a fission bomb, just not as efficient or compact as a 90% U-235 bomb would be. Little Boy, the Hiroshima bomb was comprised of 64 kg. of 89% U‑235 and some at about 50% U‑235 for an average enrichment of just under 80%. It was an inefficient bomb with less than 1 kg actually undergoing fission.
The 90% number is important to the IRGC, because enrichment levels below 90% greatly add to the weight of a functional device, and delivery by ballistic missile could not then be achieved. Smuggling a 60% weapon into southern Lebanon by truck, and detonating it on Israel’s border is something that Israel needed to guard against, but now Israel controls up to the Litani River, precluding that option.
I hope that Trump now sees that he will have to utterly destroy the present Iranian regime, or at least defeat them sufficiently to allow its Iranian citizen victims finish the job. If the war becomes unpopular in the US, Israel without US can finish the job.
Josh says
“I hope that Trump now sees that he will have to utterly destroy the present Iranian regime, or at least defeat them sufficiently to allow its Iranian citizen victims finish the job.”
That’s never going to happen. Not ever. That was never going to happen. Trump and his cohorts became involved with this “war” because he wanted the headlines, the credit and to scare the Iranians into coming to the negotiating table and making a deal. Because he’s that much of a fucking idiot. Really.
“If the war becomes unpopular in the US, Israel without US can finish the job.”
The “war” (it’s not a war, it was a series of extremely limited, targeted air strikes) is extremely unpopular in the US. Polls have consistently shown, across the board, across demographics, that 80%+ or more of Americans disapprove of the so called “Iran War” (rather pathetic display to call it a “war”).
Israel is not capable of taking down the Iranian totalitarian mullah regime by themselves. The IDF and Mossad don’t have such capabilities, munitions or manpower. Hell, the IDF hasn’t even decisively defeated Hamas (which controls about ~36% of Gaza) or Hezbollah (which is de facto a state within a state that controls Southern Lebanon and has influence over the rest of Lebanon). Israel hasn’t been able to close even a single warfront so they can focus on the other pressing war fronts/ war theaters. Not a single decisive victory. Hamas and Hezbollah remain.
I should also mention that in under 2 months of the Iran war, the United States Armed Forces (USAF) burned through and depleted their conventional munitions and all of their advanced weaponry. CENTCOM also ran out of fuel and one of their navy carriers had to return home due to plumbing issues.
Trump doesn’t have anything left to defeat the mullah regime, absent resorting to nuclear weapons (or other WMD’s if the US illegally posseses chemical and/or biological weaponry).
The Russian Federation and the United States have been fully exposed to the entire world and put on display as 20th century has beens. The Chinese Communist Party has nothing to worry about. Chairman Xi Jinping got to see, in his lifetime, the demotion of the United States from “superpower” to “regional power”. He already saw that with the pathetic shadow of a “superpower” the Russian Federation became after the dissolution of the USSR.

Chinas no joke though. They have unlimited capacity to make weapons if they just make the choice one day. Entire factories capable of producing cruise missiles with the lights off and zero workers.
Our defense contractors are interested in profit, not production. Ukraine makes a better missile than the tomahawk at 10 percent of the cost, and 2-3x the range, and it is 10 times quicker to manufacture. I believe it is called the dolphin?
They want to keep making complicated and useless stuff like the tomahawk. It’s just a over priced over complicated, antiquated missile.
Edward Brennan says
You sound extremely “happy” about all of this.
If the “leaders” of the free world, weren’t so cowardly, and terrified of the muslims they have allowed to enter and infect their own countries, and had stood with the U.S. and Israel, then the IRGC would be no more.
The IRGC will destroy the world, if they are let go nuclear.

Israel should go ahead and clandestinely finish the job, w/o sharing anything that they are doing w/ US. Just like it was during Biden. Do what they can to enable Pahlavi & his transition team to move in, and resume sabotaging IRGC assets all over while making it clear that it’s being done by Iranians, not Mossad
Since nothing that Trump says during a conflict can be taken at face value – since he’s on record as saying that he wants to confound the enemy, I’ve made it a point to just ignore any of his truths or public statements. Same w/ Vance or Rubio. Just make it look like the break w/ Israel is public – regardless of whether or not it actually is – and let Israel act accordingly
Beans🫘 says
Israel won’t finish anything. There’s nothing they can do. They would have done it by now if there was.

Sadly, the US has been pressuring Israel to give Iran a free pass for murdering her people. Really shameful.

Graven Image,
I am in a minority of knowledgeable people in believing the USA has a complicated relationship with Iran.
In that I mean Islamic controlled Iran has benefits to American global power in many ways. I won’t make this too long but I can if you need me to explain.
Just think about a couple things. During the Iran iraq war, we sent them a TON of weapons, during the iraq war with Isis, the American Air Force actually provided air cover for IRGC terrorists. They were fighting together with us, and it was not informal. Actual communication. And of course, the war with the Taliban. The United States actually had IRGC troops and advisors inside of our bases, coordinating war.
Also, this deal is so favorable to Iran it is suspicious for even myself…. Trump is about to sell them a bunch of Boeing jets? Yes! And also Iranian oil is already headed here…. HERE.
So yes I do believe there is more going on than we are lead to believe. I would only say, we do not want them to have a nuke. But we do want them to be a menace to the region. That’s a bold statement, but I stand behind it.
That is just to make a point.

Graven image,
Also may I add, from my studies, America will never allow Israel to have a clean victory. We always have and always seemingly will save the Muslims from totally losing a war.
Look how Sinai was given back. Every time Israel is close, we make sure they stay in their place, and everyone else stays in their place as well.
So there definitely is something to what you are observing yourself. If there was a decisive moment where Israel could have done something we are not privy to, I guarantee you we did something to stop them. Me and you would not be surprised.

With all respect, Beans, I don’t think that Iran controlled by the bloody Mullahs–and holding American diplomats hostage fore oever a year–benefits either the US of most of the Iranian people.
Beans🫘 says
The hostages mean nothing in the strategic sense. In fact it’s a positive.
It shows the region that Iran is a menace and willing to do dangeous things. Such as foment revolution all over the Middle East, attack.
Once the region realizes the danger of Iran, we become valuable and we come into the region. There were almost no bases in the Middle East prior to this hostage crisis. This gave us reason to come into, and have effective control of the Hormuz, and effectively control oil flow…

Forget the US: even Israel doesn’t want to partition Iran. Also, there are 3 Red lines that the Iranian people have made clear that they won’t tolerate. One is continuation of Iran as even a muslim, let alone islamic, country, a second is a Leftist takeover, like the Mojahideen Khalq. But a third, often overlooked abroad one in the West, is their insistence on the unity & integrity of their country – something reinforced by King Reza Pahlavi
I have heard this point being made by several Iranians – Armin Navabi, Goldie Ghamari, Mahyar Tousi, Elika le Bon…. They’ve pointed out how the uprisings against the islamic regime have happened in all 31 provinces in Iran, and among all ethnic groups – Farsis, Arabs, Balochis, Azeris & Kurds. The murder of Mahsa Amini by the IRGC a few years ago was what set of nationwide protests, and she was a Kurdish woman. Had there been ethnic divisions like in Iraq, the non Kurdish population would not have cared
It’s worth noting that none of the minority ethnic groups in Iran have secessionist tendencies. I have seen a video of an Iranian Kurdish influencer (for want of a better term here) translating a statement from the Iraqi Kurdish leader Barzani condoling the death of Ali Khamenei when it happened, pointing out that it flew in the face of what Iranian Kurds felt about that event – unmitigated joy. They are opposed to having anything to do w/ Kurdistan, which would be there in Iraq, Syria & maybe Turkey. Similarly, the Arabs of Khuzestan do not want to be in the same boat as their brothers across the border in Basra province: they’ve experienced the islamic regime firsthand, and even though they too are imamiyeh shi’a, they have no interest in being in an islamic, as opposed to a secular, state. Similarly, there has been nothing in Iran about Balochis wanting to join their brothers across the border in Pakistan. Nor do West or East Azerbaijan want to come under the control of Baku
That’s inside Iran. Outside, a disintegrated Iran would continue to be dangerous for Israel, since the breakaway provinces could be under influences that make them more anti-Israel. Like if the Arabs were to then unite w/ Iraq, or the Azeris got influenced by Ankara rather than Baku. There may be a secular Persia, but it would be surrounded by still islamic entities once the Tehran hold is gone. Not to mention, Turkic and Arab neighbors of theirs might relish the opportunity of carving Iran up again if the template for a post regime Iran was a partitioned Iran
No, the best thing for US Infidels to do, while supporting the Iranians, is to unconditionally support their other aspirations, once it’s established that they want to become a non-muslim country and normalize relations w/ most of the world. Especially their desire for Iran to remain a single united country even after this regime falls, no matter what the similarities may be b/w some of their people and their neighbors
commonsense says
Infidel: All you have written here is probably completely unknown to those in our government involved with the military and foreign policy. Trump’s disastrous decision to align with Turkey, Qatar, and Pakistan puts paid to the idea that he has any understanding of the primacy of jihad. A quarter century after 9-11 has passed, and those in authority have clearly learned nothing.

Thank you
Like I said above, I’m ignoring anything Trump says, and just observing what is happening within Iran itself. Hopefully this regime falls: having neutralized the ayatollahs, I don’t think they’ll tolerate the IRGC gaining permanent control of the country
gravenimage says
I have never heard Israel threaten to partition Iran. They just want the Mullahs to stop attacking their people.
Beans🫘 says
Sounds like a great plan. One problem. Trump sold out the Kurds, and they lost all trust and simply stole all of trumps weapons.
He traded the Kurds as friends for AlWaeda leader, a proven terrorist Al-Shara…. The weapons must flow through them to foment the revolution mainly. But they say fuck you and simply take it.
Option 2- Pakistan floods the ethnic minorities in the east. That won’t happen because Pakistan knows it will spill over and this would backfire.
In any case, Iran will simply blow up everything on the Hormuz, and the global economy falters. Sensitive irreplaceable petroleum infrastructure. They’re terrorists. They’ll have zero to lose at that point. A large core of Iran will stay still Iran and menace the world economy, possibly into depression.

Iran says we have no choice but to have nuclear weapons. Israel hopefully says oh, I see, well we have no choice but to wipe you scum of the earth off planet earth and they do it. It would greatly improve the human race.
Walter Sieruk says
The State media of the belligerent Islamic regime has revealed that it rulers have firmly decided that they have “No choice but to obtain an atomic bomb.” In one sense to do have “no choice ” because that keeping within their hostile warrior death inflecting jihad violent and vicious Quran based mentality.
For the very foundation of that aggressive and combative Islamic regime is death and destruction of “disbelievers “and their countries , the United State, Israel and all other western nations , even Muslim nations that are not practicing Shiite Islam. Those despots of Iran’s Shiite tyranny cannot change and will not change.
Therefore it should be made known and clear that if the founder of the current Islamic tyranny ,Ayatollah Khomeini would still be alive today ,he would spit on those Westerners who say that “Islam is a non-violent religion.”
If Ayatollah Khomeini had clearly announced that “Those who know nothing about Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war….There are hundreds psalms and hadiths urging of Muslims to value war and to fight. …I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim.” [1] So if he was alive today who would spit on those Westerners who say that “Islam is a non-violent religion.” [1]
There are also many places in the Qu ‘ran that instruct in violence and killing for the cause of Islam. As found in ,for example Surah 2:191. 4:89.. 5:33. 9:5, 111,112 ,123. 47:4.

its very strange if not outright absurd that someone as intelligent Donald Trump appears to be beguiled, as in deceived, by those liars of the dangerous and hostile Islamic regime of Iran, who are liars and have no intention of keeping any of the promise that might make. At best they might in the very beginning, for a time ,they keep some of their promises to look good the view the nations of the world Nevertheless, in time. they will break even those few promises when it happens to fit their jihad agenda .
It’s very odd that Trump doesn’t understand that any document for “peace” which those despots of that tyranny will sign isn’t worth the paper that It’s printed on
Linda Goudsmit says
It is all word perversion founded on taqiyya lies––simply Orwellian. You can’t make a deal with a Nazi (ask Chamberlain), and you can’t make a deal with an Islamist (ask Israel). Why is this so? Because Nazis and Islamists NEVER keep their end of the bargain. Why is this so? Because Nazis and Islamists operate from an ideological base that is doctrinally antithetical and hostile to the West. It would be laughable if it weren’t so dangerous for POTUS/Kushner/Witkoff to make policy based on business deals with Islamists––POTUS should have learned from historically catastrophic deals made with Hitler ––but greed is blinding.
The same principle was operational in 1971 when Nixon/Kissinger opened trade with China. Greedy corporate globalists were sure they would exploit China’s cheap labor––and they did in the short run. But China was playing chess and built its power and fortune on Western greed and lucrative business deals. Now China threatens US sovereignty and independence. Similarly, wealthy Qatari rulers with business acumen have exploited Western greed and bought staggering power and influence in the United States. The current red/green axis is incrementally collapsing America from within, and their power and influence was purchased in business deals with greedy Westerners––from military equipment to educational curricula––power is money and money buys power. The current POTUS/Kushner/Witkoff deal is no exception, the difference is that President Trump was elected to clear the swamp, not to jump in and start swimming in it. Whoever is driving his bus now, it is most definitely NOT his most rational, presidential, America 1st self. This will not end well for America.

Iranian state media: ‘No choice but to obtain the atomic bomb’
………………………………………….
So…Iran needs the bomb because oher nations dod not want her to wipe them out–as Iran has threatened–when it got the bomb. Backwards “logic”.
